Great charity fundraiser for an important cause. Gets better every year. Really good way to try the food of multiple local restaurants too!

While I've normally visited for weekend dinner visits my visit on this occasion was a mid-week happy hour. First, if you've enjoyed the setting in the past you will be happy to know it looks/feels like the same Iron Hill, spacious, clean, well lit, and plenty of TVs in the expansive bar area for watching sporting events. There is outdoor seating both on the main level and the upper level ---for this visit I sat at the bar and was immediately greeted by a welcoming bartender who walked me through the happy hour specials---half dozen food options from a soft hot pretzel to personal pan pizzas for $7....thats a bargain from my perspective. Throw in drink specials and this is a great happy hour setup. Opted for a red blend and they had a very good mid-level blend I've had other places---Pessimist red blend. Went with a personal pan pizza and asked for light sauce and extra cheese and it was prepared perfectly.....didn't even get charged for the extra cheese! There was a nice crowd for a mid week late afternoon happy hour and the place seemed well staffed and everyone I interacted with was pleasant and attentive----good place to visit or revisit while down on the Wilmington riverfront.

Happy hour means $6 well drinks, so my standard is rum and diet Coke. Good drink, single pour of Cruzan. I chose to dine at the bar because the weather was a little steamy out. But I later took my second drink out onto their riverfront patio, and sat awhile in the shade of the building. It was lovely. For snacks, I ordered the blackened filet medallions and the garlic mussels. On a skewer, four hefty pieces of excellent beef were joined with a nifty horseradish dip. I did cut the steak into several bites per piece, so it was a good sized portion. My only preference would have been some garnish (greens maybe?). The mussels normally come with bread, but I let them keep it in the kitchen to sub my own GF bread from home. The broth was thin and lightly flavored, which I enjoyed almost like a soup (but was too embarrassed to tip the bowl). The patron to my right bemoaned the loss of a thicker broth from a previous recipe, so the bartender brought him some scampi butter which helped apparently. I really loved the light broth and found it soaked into the bread quite nicely. Friendly bartender gal cashed me out at my request before I took my drink on the patio. $30 plus tip, well spent. I could be a regular here, and look forward to another visit to Wilmington next time we are in Philly.

We were greeted immediately by our server and a trainee. I ordered an old fashioned and my wife ordered a specialty cocktail. Both tasted great however, wait for the drink was excessive. The bar had an afterwork crowd and it appeared a bit understaffed. For my meal I ordered grilled octopus for a starter and I think it was one of the best I've ever had. Tender, savory with a really flavorful sauce. My wife had the Ricotta focaccia. Loved it. For dinner I had the pasta with mushroom and truffle. It was amazing. Temperature was perfect. It was hot, creamy and amazingly flavorful. My wife had the bream fish dish. She enjoyed that as well. For dessert we had the almond/chocolate tort. Very nicely warmed with a rich chocolate flavor to end the meal. I'll be back for sure.

I…read morewasn't expecting a life changing experience, but two of our four sandwiches were basically inedible without serious doctoring at home (we ordered takeout). The Ruben and chicken pesto sandwiches were fine. I wouldn't go out of my way to come to Timothy's again just for either of those, but they were at least edible. The "zesty chicken" sandwich was neither "zesty" nor actual chicken. It was a school lunch style breaded "chicken" patty (microwaved?), served on a dry bun with a tablespoon of a sauce and red cabbage mix. If we had been eating there, I would have sent it back - something I've only done a couple of times in my entire life. They also forgot an item from my order, which happens and wasn't a huge deal, but just a flag for folks to check their entire order before leaving if you do takeout. I'm not super picky. I love hole-in-the-wall places. I love basic bar food. But Timothy's really doesn't cut it. We won't be back.
