In my opinion, this school was an underwhelming experience that left me with underdeveloped…read morecritical thinking skills and struggling in high school. The school's French program was subpar for years after I graduated; I am unsure as to whether this has changed in recent years but when I went to the school, the teachers (we had a new one yearly) were unable to teach the material within the year. After I left the school, a friend of mine said that they were getting a new french teacher every term and that each one was just as unequipped to teach as the last. I struggled with French in high school and moved over to Spanish as a result. The school's music program caused me to develop bad habits that I only fixed in my later years of high school; my embouchure was awful (as my teacher had minimal knowledge of how to play my instrument) and the material we played was on par with "hot cross buns". They also required us to buy or rent (which was more expensive than buying in the medium term) the instrument we played; I ended up spending around $800 to play an instrument in primary school.. If I had not continued to play this instrument, this would have been a significant waste of money. The school prided itself on being a year ahead in science and two years ahead in math; this worked to my detriment as I became overconfident and barely passed math and sciences in high school. After I almost failed math and science in grade 7 (after moving to my new school), I lost all confidence and continued to do poorly. On top of this, I remember my science teacher telling us about the wonders of recycling. It has since been revealed that recycling was created by the plastics industry to give people the illusion that they had a way to avoid pollution due to plastic waste. Ever since China banned the importing of most plastics in 2017, Malaysia has taken up the burden of sorting our low-value plastics for pennies on the hour.. and this will is starting to stop as Malaysia has realized that being the world's dump is hurting their country. My point is that the teachers are uncritical and do very little research outside of creating their bare-bones curriculum. The teachers are used to children being as obedient and uncritical as them. They did not entertain any of our ideas and yelled at us when we did not fall in line. They did whatever was easiest and this included almost punishing me for allegedly pushing someone down the stairs, pinching someone on the back, and calling someone a nasty word within the span of a 30-minute lunch; I did not do any of this and if I had been more submissive, I would have been punished for actions I did not commit. When I was in high school, I posted a review similar to this one on their Facebook page. My parents told me that they were blackmailed into getting me to take the post down so I removed it. The main difference between that post and this post is that I did not claim anything to be my opinion.. (despite it being obvious that a Facebook review is an opinion). The teachers also have no problem with stealing and/or damaging the property of children (from what I saw). My friend's gummy art eraser (a $5 eraser) was thrown out because my teacher thought he had balled up his pencil shavings to create it. I had my tamogochi taken away and I only got it back when my mother yelled at the teacher the next day. These teachers do not care (in my opinion, as always); they want to do what is easiest and take home their meager salaries. This school is just a business.. nothing more. This has been an opinion piece.

My older son is doing very well in a private high school and my younger son (who joined RHMS in grade 1) just got accepted to one of the most competitive schools in Toronto for grade 7. We could not be happier with RHMS.

They also requested you to do cleaning even my shift is done, with no application and in a rude manner. They feed the kids with frozen fried food every day, doesn't have enough fruits for kids either They only have one small bowl fruits for 4 toddler in a day. During the interview the guy said there will be half an hour paid lunch, and didn't pay as well Don't work here or don't send your kids here!! -------------------------------------------- I got a threatened message right after I left the comment, and this is the school owner that you send your kids to. I agreed I can be there 15 mins early, but you said it's not enough I have to be there 30 mins before. As I only been working here for 4 days with 4 toddlers by myself most of time you only helped for an hour one day. As you read my resume, I literally only change my job once and was in my previous daycare for 2 years, its not true to say that I change my job frequently. In the end I haven't done anything that against ece and always responsible for kids. All my words above are true, and I have my right to protect the labor's rights!

Please Just I wanted to advice all parents about the Onwers of this school don't trust them…read more As result of the current pandemic, the school has been closed. However, the school owners still require all parents to pay for their children's education, despite the closure of the school. I feel that this is unjust from the perspective that the parents contracted with the school to provide educational services which they are not doing at this time. I would think that the teachers have been laid off for the duration of the COVID-19 outbreak, and are now in receipt of Employment Insurance Benefits. If this is the case, the school is profiting unjustly on "the backs of the parents" without the parents receiving any services.

My daughter will be graduating in June and it makes me sad to leave this wonderful community. Teachers My kids have had Miss Illuminata for a total of four years, and she is amazing. She is the most senior teacher for the graduating students, and the children love her. She is both academically strong in teaching, (phonics, to support early reading, cursive, writing, adding, subtracting, multiplying, dividing) and is compassionate and sees the whole child so each student feels valued. All of my children's teachers have been outstanding. As a secondary educator myself, I have always been happy with Great Lakes Montessori. ECEs in the classroom , Ms Franca and Ms Alinda are excellent. French Mme Rita is a retired French elementary teacher who is super qualified in her post supporting French Language. Music Ms Lee is an excellent pianist and music teacher. She plays at each graduation and event. The kids love her! Meals Fresh food prepared by the school cook always includes fresh fruits and vegetables. Excellent value. Administration Ms Shazia and Ms Tina have always been professional, receptive, accommodating, and excellent in communicating and accommodating requests to support the well-being of our children. Special Events September grandparents day event, Bagel day with coffee. Pancake day with coffee, December Holiday concert, May Mothers Day brunch, June Fathers Day brunch, June Graduation ceremony. Parents receive gifts for special holidays. In fact I just finished a Mother's Day Brunch of melons, clementines, cheese, coffee and croissants with this special gift!

Bad experience! My son (1.5 years) was at this daycare part-time for almost 1.5 months…read more From the day two, we noticed neither my son nor his teacher (Sahar) was looking forward to seeing each other in the mornings. There were many mornings I had to stay and wait at the doorstep simply because Sahar was pretending she was busy with something, turning her back to the door as soon as she could see me and my baby boy coming down the hallway. And mind you that, these are the mornings I had to rush to go to work while dropping off my baby on my way to the office! On one occasion when I dropped off my child when I walked out of the room I heard my son screaming. I immediately looked back and noticed Sahar had hit my son's head to the shelf over his high chair and had proceeded to forcibly push my son into his high chair with anger. I went back to the room and helped her putting my baby in his high chair properly. That day I thought maybe she didn't have a good day so I let it go. I also tried to put my baby in his high chair every morning since after. On another occasion , my wife witnessed Sahar not being nice to our son when my wife went to the daycare to pick him up. Sahar did not notice my wife was watching her from behind the glass door! Bottom line is Sahar's attitude towards our loved one and us never changed. I never understood what Sahar's real problem was, but the truth is she was continuously upset to see us dropping off our baby at the daycare and she couldn't hide it. My son was at this daycare for 1.5 months and we never saw Sahar's smile. We expressed our concerns about Sahar to the supervisor(Shazia) but she said my son soon to be transferred to the toddler's room, therefore, she took no actions. From the second week, we started receiving calls from the daycare supervisor expressing concerns over the fact that my son doesn't eat by himself and doesn't walk. She got us really worried so we immediately took our son to see his doctor and his doctor thoroughly examined him and expressed absolutely no concerns over my son's motor skills. We offered to bring a doctor note to the daycare but the supervisor said she was only concerned and that there was no need for the doctor's note. The truth is that daycare supervisor was just preparing the ground for her next move. Keep reading! Towards the end of the first month, the supervisor contacted my wife and said she has found legislation that prevents her from keeping my son in the infants room, and some other legislation indicating that my son can't be accepted in the toddlers room either. We were shocked to hear this as it was never communicated to us. Basically, she asked us to stop bringing our child to her daycare! When we asked for her to refer us to the legislation or show us the existence of such information in the daycare's parents' handbook, she rudely refused to do so! Just to recap, we are in the process of filing a legal complaint with the ministry of education against the daycare and taking appropriate legal actions against Sahar. To us, Sahar could be anyone, but a child caregiver and we definitely don't recommend having your baby to stay with her nor with a daycare with such an unethical management style and lack of control over staff behavior. Another great example of a high price does not necessarily mean "high quality"! The school has a warm family feel, so our children adjusted very easily. The teachers are great, and work closely with the students to help them achieve their full potential. My daughter graduated from the Casa (senior kindergarten) program in June, reading at a grade 2 level and had been introduced to grade 3 mathematics concepts. In September, she entered into a grade one French immersion program. Because Westbrook also introduces the kids to French, it has been a very easy transition for her. She took with her the drive for learning, and has progressed to reading chapter books, and writing her own stories. My son, loves Westbrook and shows a very keen interest in school. At 3, he's already recognizing short words, and enjoys books and counting. His learning style is very different from his sister's, but the teachers work with him in a way that works for him. Because it's a family oriented school, the Principal there, is very open and fair with the students and parents. As a parent, there's nothing like sending your to school knowing that they are safe and happy. My husband and I have been extremely happy with Westbrook, and always recommend it to friends and family who are looking for a great school for their children.
