Whether it's in athletics, academics, or even discipline, there's a very obvious bias at play. It's disheartening and exhausting to watch students who work hard be overlooked, while others skate by simply because of who they are or who they're related to. Snobbery runs deep here -- among both students and staff. Instead of fostering humility and kindness, there's an unspoken hierarchy that rewards arrogance, status, and appearance. If you're a little different -- whether that's in how you think, what you wear, or what your background is -- you're treated like an outsider. There's little to no effort made to include or support students who don't conform. And let's be real -- for a school that prides itself on being Christian, the lack of genuine empathy and fairness is pretty shocking. You hear about grace and forgiveness in chapel, but that message often doesn't show up in how administration actually handles things. Decisions feel inconsistent, and it's hard to trust the system when you see double standards in action. And you also cannot forget the corrupt dean that works here. Talks badly about student after they leave to other students that our currently walking the campus. If you're a parent thinking of sending your child here, I strongly encourage you to not go here. Waste of a 17k a Year.

I consider myself extremely lucky to have gone to school here and am very thankful to all the educators and administrators who invested into me personally. I recently stopped by the Stockdale Comic Show, which is an annual comic and collector show/convention which occurs at Stockdale every year. One of my old teachers organizes it and is it cool to see folks of all ages come together in the quad I used to enjoy lunch at during my high school years.

First off, the school culture and environment isn't really the best. I faced a lot of discrimination from others for my race and culture, and I mean A LOT, which I find that there was absolutely no sense of discipline when it came to that stuff. I originally wasn't in huge favor of the place because theres just not a lot of strong school spirit or connection among others, but there was so much more that gave me a good reason to hate the place. My biggest thing was the administrative staff, specifically the counselors. The staff are extremely selective about who they tend to and actually try to help (ahem the students with wealthy parents), and they completely disregard those who are simply just trying to make it through and be successful without having any social status. They completely lied to me and my mom multiple times about classes, and never even acknowledged my schedule plans or preferences, and I had multiple different counselors mind you. I felt completely unsupported by the staff, and I genuinely mean it when I say I feel like I wouldn't have made it far if I hadn't transferred to a school who actually values their students experiences. My God daughter's participation in the choir has allowed me to see the school from a unique perspective, and I am excited to share my thoughts. Every year I'm excited to see what themed productions they will do because they never let me down. The productions are always so well done, with great attention to detail and a clear passion for the arts. You can definitely see all the hard work that is being put into it, and it's wonderful to see the students' talents being showcased. Kudos to the choir teacher for keeping the arts alive and for providing students with opportunities to develop their skills and build their confidence.

This junior high is ranked one of the top in the SW part of town and the parent club is very active. While you only attend two years it is a great transition before starting high school. He waits until too much time has passed to let me know if my daughter missed work (I know this is on my daughter but the taking too long is what irritates me) he always seems to cop an attitude when I am explaining things to him, and doesn't want to be bothered. I also don't like that he uses caps lock to make a point to my daughter in emails. They recently installed new solar panels and upgraded the classrooms. The staff in the office was always helpful and cheerful when I called in with any questions or to clear absences. The school participates in many voluntary extracurricular activities and competitions like History Day and Robotics; both of these programs have a possibility of moving on to statewide or nationwide competitions! The teachers involved in the extracurriculars are very encouraging and will go above and beyond to make sure the students have the tools they need to succeed in their chosen programs. The teachers at FJH made my daughters time here enjoyable. Special recognition to Norian, Kolb, Escobar, and Chafin for being especially helpful and encouraging. I think Fruitvale is a great school and really care about the kids! I've had more ups than downs at this school, but my son excelled attending here and that's why I rated this school 5 stars. A few things that I thought was the downside of this school is that there's not too many students who get involved with the academic programs versus the athletic programs. I think sports are important; however, I'm shocked that there wasn't more kids volunteering to get involved in Math Field, Battle of the Books and other academic activities. My son only had a bad experience with one teacher his whole time attending here and part of the problem was that he was unorganized, but when we reached out to Ms. Zaragoza (GATE language arts) she had a bad attitude. Rather than coming up with a plan, she was argumentative and we had to involve the principal. The situation was only resolved because the principal stepped in. If we did not reach out to someone above her she would have continued to act unprofessional. I believe that if you become a teacher then you should do it because you love kids, because if you don't then you'll be acting like Ms. Zaragoza and that's a shame. All in all, I think Tevis Jr High is a great school. They have a really nice staff. My son absolutely loved so many of his teachers. This school praises the kids for doing great by rewarding them and they do a lot of school spirit activities.
