Can't speak much on the staff bc we barely interacted with them, they seemed mostly unbothered and nonchalant. We rent a screened shelter for 2 nights, Fri - Sunday. We actually got the last open shelter for the weekend, so we got lucky! We stayed in section 9. Very pretty area. Most of our fellow campers were courteous, although on our first night we heard music blaring from another part of section 9. For us to be able to hear it from where we were, they must have been LOUD so I can only imagine how their actual neighbors felt. And even though quiet hours are at 10, this music went on until probably around 11:30ish range. I also heard screaming and very loud laughing. Sounded like teenagers maybe. Remember people.... We all came out here to enjoy nature. Be courteous if you're sharing the space with other campers. Leave no trace ALSO includes noise pollution. It's ok to play some music and have a good time - I know I did! But I kept my music very low, and made sure to keep my voice down or at least not at such a volume that I could be heard across the camp ground. Anyway aside from that we had a wonderful time. The shelter was clean, the surrounding area was free of litter. We hiked, swam, made campsites, cooked, played games, rested in the grass, and had a grand time. I'd have to put this park up there on my list of top 5 parks. It's has everything! It definitely gave me *summer camp* vibes. The only thing I probably wouldn't recommend is the boat rentals. They are quite pricey. If you can swing it, bring your own!

What's really great about Tyler State Park is that it is not too far off of I-20 and the heart of downtown Tyler. It's actually kind of mesmerizing how close this preserved state park is from the city and how many people don't take that quick drive on a spring day. There's plenty of hiking to do on the almost one thousand acres of land. My girlfriend and I hiked the B Loop hiking trail, which is a little over 3 miles and was a very easy adventure for us. I wanted us to do more, but our legs were tired, so we called it there. Instead, we went to the Northside Day-Use Area to get our feet in the water and enjoy the view of the lake. The trip here was not as planned as I would normally do. We had come to Tyler for something else, but kept hearing "you gotta check out the zoo". Being from Dallas, i snobbishly thought "how could it be better than what we have in the metroplex?". I am gonna say this zoo earned my respect! I loved the design and the walk through the zoo. For some reason (maybe she - the front desk receptionist - told me it was because they were being cleaned? I can't exactly remember.). I was not able to check them out. This second time, when picking up Phoebe, a new customer came in and someone - whom I supposed was the owner of BB&B - took her right back without question. It may not be their general operating procedure, as it is with many other boarding kennels; but, I was told that we would be sent a photo of her on her first five-day visit. In fact, they offered. That didn't happen. It's not something that I expect from a kennel; but, more and more kennels are sending daily updates via a photo or two showing pets playing or just having a good time. I think it's a great way to reassure pet owners that their pets are comfortable while owners are gone. On this second visit, I reminded them that they never provided me with a photo for the first visit; and, I was assured that it would happen this time. Again, it didn't happen. I left 12 Wuffes (hip/joint supplements) for six days with instructions that she was to receive two per day. (Even left two extra just in case we didn't get back as scheduled). Out of the twelve, 10 were returned. This means that they were given to Phoebe only one day. NOT ACCEPTABLE. I was trying to really like this place. With both a five-night and a six-night visit, boarding isn't cheap. And, I certainly don't mind paying for it, but, when it comes to my pets when I'm not able to be around them, it is comforting to know that they are in a safe, comfortable place where their health needs are being met by staff, especially when provided with meds and instructions. Just reviewed my online invoice to find that I WAS CHARGED $9.90 FOR PLAYTIME THAT I DID NOT REQUEST. I had earned free pool time. I figured, as did another reviewer of BB&B, that since most kennels allow dogs to be given socialization time, that this place would work that way as well, but, apparently that is NOT the policy here. I do a lot of traveling, but afraid I'll have to find a different kennel boarding option from here on out.

This was my first time having my dogs groomed with this place and I will not return…read more The absolute worst part is that they groomed my dog's fur so incredibly short under his tail that he has HORRIFIC razor burn, to the point of it being extremely SWOLLEN and INFLAMED. He has not eaten or drank in two days since his appointment, and has been throwing up. He is flinching each time we pet and check his body, which everytime we inspect his body we see MULTIPLE other areas where his skin was cut or fur so short all you see is his irritated skin. Ended up taking him to the vet and he has an infection, was out on antibiotics and steroids.
