I don't know where to start. I do want to say this is an incredible dance studio. My daughter has been studying ballet for about 10 years now with almost two years so far at this studio. This place really feels like a family- the kids all support each other. Anacia is sweet, professional and available when you need her. Ms April and Ms Jen are stellar in their approach to teaching ballet. The Nutcracker performance is beautiful from choreography to costumes-gorgeous! It's a professional production put out by hard working students and their teachers. Also, the studio teaches different dance art forms. And their summer intensive programs are solid! I am so grateful for this pre professional dance training studio. My daughter has been receiving excellent dance and life training. When she was little and I was looking to get her involved in an activity she would enjoy, the other studios we tried seemed like they mainly cared about making money and not the child. This studio is truly a family and reminds us it does take a village. The owner, teachers, current and former students have given my daughter a safe community that I believe she will keep in touch with for years to come. The owner lives in the Netherlands and tries to run her business on zoom with moms helping to run the studio and teachers filling in. She has never actually spent time at the studio with my daughter or ever gotten to know her. I used to think this was a wonderful safe space for students to learn to dance. It all changed this year. My daughter has made mistakes, she is a teenager and still struggling with socializing after the pandemic. Instead of trying to work through things they continually ostracized her and made her out to be the bad one. The below image is the message that was sent to my daughter from the owner. Not happy w this company at all. I signed up for a session and 2 weeks later they changed the timing of the class to start/end 15 minutes later - in which case I could not make it. This was not communicated to me properly (I don't read email blasts). I kept trying to call but couldn't reach anyone. Finally when I talked to the owner, they had already charged me ahead of time for the 2nd session but not the first. Not cool. If you change the time on someone, you should fully refund them if it doesn't work for them to attend. Period. read more

I can't say enough good things about this dance studio, the director (Anacia), and the faculty. Degas manages the rare feat of doing two things incredibly well; it is both a very warm, welcoming, friendly studio and also an incredible training facility for dance. Anacia and the faculty are very supportive and attentive to all the kids, regardless of their level. They keep a careful eye on who needs what kind of work and suggest classes accordingly. It's remarkable how well they know each kid, and everything they are dealing with both in and out of dance. They also enforce a policy of all the kids being nice to each other! Everyone applauds for everyone else, everyone thanks the teacher at the end of each class, everyone works hard and is supportive of others. My daughter has danced there for more than five years. The studio has grown along with her, so that there are always challenging classes to take and interesting things to learn. She has been given wonderful opportunities not just to perform and to compete, but also to do things like dance for children in the hospital and for seniors in a care facility. The studio is also very respectful of family time and homework time, and many of their dancers are also honors students in school. My daughter has learned not just how to dance, but how to manage her time, how to be responsible, and how to support and nurture others. If you are considering dance classes here -- you will love it. My daughter has been attending for a year and I am very impressed with Degas Dance Studio. They are fairly priced and the teachers are very good. They are friendly and professional. The level is pretty high but the girls are friendly to each other and you don't feel any animosity or competitiveness. My daughter has learned so much and she has made really good friends this past year. Also, even though she is still sometimes a little shy, I can tell she gained a lot of confidence. The only downside is that the place looks very messy. read more

Amazing studio. Like no other around. The dance abilities of the teachers and students are top notch, and if your child is a beginner they won't be for long. Go see one of their shows and you'll see for yourself. There are performance opportunities all year round. Very professional but laid back. You don't get the third degree as soon as you walk in as a matter of fact, there's no front desk. Just come in and try a class, ask for Anacia. You'll love it. The only reason I didn't give it five stars is I wish the studio was bigger, which I think they're working on. read more

Introduce your daughter to ballet, take a funky cultural or cardio class for yourself, or like my eight yr old son, take hip hop dancing. This place is so cool that even little boys love to hang out there! My son thinks the young man who teaches hip hop is "awesome" :) Anacia manages to run the studio as a dance professional in a beautiful, warm space - she's also a mother of a young child, so somehow it's a hip place to be, but feels good for kids as well. I can't believe we've been coming to Degas for 4-5 years and I've yet to write a Yelp review. I suck! Lol...Well, here goes. It's a very special place. Unique in its warmth and support. The more I hear from other dancers/parents the more I'm so thankful we found Degas when we did. My dancer son is 9, and has been dancing at Degas for 4-5 years, but just this past year he's fallen in some deep love with ballet. Now he's hard core into his training and they really accommodate that, which is wonderful. Also Degas has started a boys program - which rocks! So he has plenty of dudes to hang out with. Besides the incredible diversity of classes and insanely amazing teachers there, it just has that community feel. No drama. No attitudes by kids or parents. The director, Anacia, has created that environment and she feels super passionate about it. So... Yelper/Dancers, if you're looking for a studio, try this one out. My daughter started dancing just over a year ago and her dancing technique has improved so much, she's made great friends that I'm sure are going to last a lifetime. Incredible group of very talented teachers who are extremely supportive of each kid's abilitities and needs, needless to say they are all professional dancers and perform with top singers/dancers around the world. This is a follow-up to my original review - My son has been dancing at Degas for almost 2 years now and he still loves it as much as when he started. The studio is very relaxed and has a warm, family feel which I really appreciate. There are many classes to choose from (all different levels) and performance opportunities for the kids who dance with the company. We are considering moving to the Pasadena area and if we do, we will *still* make the trek out to Encino just so my son can continue to dance here! Great studio :-) read more

For years I have been looking for a good studio for my daughter. I FOUND IT WITH DEGAS DANCE STUDIO!!! There is no drama there and all of the teachers are top notch. If what you want is a place where your child can be challenged and developed into more then they thought they could reach, if you want a place where the focus is on teaching and not the next show, if you want a welcoming environment where the people are interesting and interested then come to Degas Dance Studio.
