Be very careful with PV Lock Shop. There is a scam going on that they are perfectly aware of…read more The scammer's name is David and he's Israeli. He intercepts their calls and steals the appointment for himself. He's tall, bald on the top and has a full dark brown beard. He is of medium build and looks athletic. He's not licensed and is hiding behind Google and PV Lock says they can't put any warning on their website. The know he's aggressive and had done this to several people. They also know that he does terrible work and charges an arm and a leg and that he's out of San Jose, they think. I had done business with PV LOCK before and trusted them. I didn't find out that he isn't a PV LOCK employee until I went to pay with a check and he said to make it out to his wife, Ariel ElizabethRodriguez. He passed himself as a subcontractor. The keys don't work for me and they are so sharp they cut my finger and made it bleed. I tested every single key in every single lock but it was impossible for me to open them. So he told me to have keys made up like the ones I had that have a bigger rectangular head and I was able to get more traction with them especially since I have small hands and arthritis. The number I called to make the appointment never answered when I called him back and the phone number on the digital receipt is no longer in service and when I tried to put a stop payment on the check that same day it had already been cashed. He told I could pay him in cash, check or credit card. If I had paid him with my credit card then he could've gone on a spending spree. I already filed a complaint with the Monterey County Sheriff's Department and am working on my complaint with the California Attorney General

The previous owners didn't leave a manual or user instructions so we just called Ron from out of the yellow pages. He promptly came out, explained how to use the system, checked all the connections and replaced the battery. Fortunately, we've never had any break-in issues but having the alarm has always put our minds at ease. A couple months ago some of the connections began to fail and we called Ron. He came out right away and fixed everything and replaced the battery (hadn't been replaced since we moved in). He also advised us about all the new products available - even one our three cats couldn't set off from the inside - but we decided our current technology was working for us. Ron went through the entire house checking & cleaning all the connections for us. Great guy, great service, great product!!!

Recommendation: Avoid doing business w/First Alarm. Add this one star review to all the others…read moreabout this business. I don't believe I've ever written a 1-star review before. My company paid a significant upfront sum to bring in First Alarm to handle our residential security system. From the outset, there were issues with sensors not working. Any request to get these small issues, most of which should have been addressed during the initial setup, were met with "that will cost you" responses. Eventually, we needed to sell our house. As we called each service provider (e.g. Comcast, AT&T, PG&E, Cal Water, etc.) to turn off our service, all handled it seamlessly and without charge. Except First Alarm. First Alarm charged us for more than a year of unused service (over $1K) even though we were not going to be living in the house (so there would be no cost to them) and my company had paid for all the upfront work. I called and wrote asking First Alarm to reconsider in light of the situation. They said "no" at every turn and decided yet another dissatisfied customer was worth the extra revenue. Buyer beware.

No show at first appointment I moved on to AAA for same service and never looked back.read more
