Written by my husband, Dr. Peder N. Piering, Clinical and Sport Psychologist…read more As a sport psychologist, I have worked with many different athletes pursuing athletic excellence in many different arenas. Until my involvement with JK Lee Tae Kwon Do, I have not seen an athletic endeavor where developing character is so closely intertwined with developing physical capability. Building character, discipline, respect for oneself and others, is a daily emphasis and not merely a by-product of the overall experience. Furthermore, with JK Lee Tae Kwon Do, you choose to accept a very personal challenge yet you are never alone. Not only will you receive encouraging instruction from an attentive and accomplished staff, you will also have the benefit and support of working side by side with other students as you all progress through the program, but each at your own individual pace. Finally, JK Lee's belt system of achievement lends itself perfectly to classic goal setting theory that will facilitate your motivation and commitment. You will stretch your own mental limits giving rise to greater confidence, concentration, and emotional control. You will also stretch your physical limits through Tae Kwon Do techniques and strategies that you will bring about greater speed, endurance, and agility. In the end this will provide you with the means to mastery over both your mind and your body. By making the choice to work with JK Lee Tae Kwon Do you will have taken the first step to achieving the ultimate goal--becoming a better person today, than you were yesterday. Pil-Seung!

Virginia taught the children so many valued principles and really held them to strict behavior standards. She taught on control and other virtues during my sons time there. He learned so much. My son has been at JAB for over a year and it has been an unbelievably positive experience for him…read more We have been to several different taekwondo facilities over the years and this is by far the best. The instructors are skilled, patient, attentive and caring. If your child is like mine and has authority and discipline issues, they will deal with those. If you are looking for the standard "McDdojo" experience, this is probably not for you. This isn't the belt testing assembly line I am used to seeing. If you want a fun but disciplined environment and quality instruction for a fraction of the cost, give JAB a try.

I always have a good time at hot yoga so naturally I had to bring my boyfriend with me. We loved it…read moresooo much. It's such a great way to dedicate time to yourself and get a good sweat on. He's never done this before so it was a little fast paced for him. The amazing thing is that there's now a class that's not too fast and not too slow!! I think the yin class is too slow so think the align class would be a perfect in between. I imagine bf can learn the poses and gain confidence in the align classes so that we can eventually do the hot yoga class regularly!! The instructor was great! She's very motivational and. she told us we did good at the end of class. She also said she loved hearing our giggles which made me feel better since I thought I was disturbing the practice of others by laughing.

I was blown away by this location and the experience my mom and I had! The facilities/waiting area outside the studio are incredible. The shower/locker/lounge area is MASSIVE. I know I'm used to the city locations that are pretty small, but the owner's of this one did a great job with decorating and making the space feel like and open. The showers and sinks and bathrooms are also extremely clean and well stocked with hair tools and other things that you would need to freshen up after a workout. We did a ritual yin class on Sunday morning and we had a great experience. The hands on assists weren't rushed and helped to loosen my muscles before and after the yoga (sometimes the ones I've gotten in Chicago are quick since the classes are usually packed). The yin class itself was fine - I wish there had been more challenging poses like pigeon to help open up our hips, but overall it was a relaxing class I'd definitely recommend it after a harder work out or a long week.

As requested online, I brought my own mat, and props (blocks and blankets) were available in the studio. My weekday morning class was small, about four others, but the flow ended up being just right after a stretch without any organized yoga classes for me. I have been watching their calendar for more classes that fit with my schedule.

Our first time visiting, my son was greeted by the fierce, skilled, Abigail . Abigail is young and cute and got my son suited up in no time. She answered all of our questions and welcomed him to open fencing. The people there are all ages, ranging from 10yrs to 70's, maybe even older. Everyone was just as kind as the owner and eager to help. My son made fast friends with some of the other 20yr olds and some of the older gentlemen. This place has such a good friendly vibe and I'll say it all starts with the owner. By the time we left, my son bought the entire Fencing suit; yes, they sell top-notch fencing gear here... it's a one-stop shop for all your Fencing needs, and reasonably priced. Thank you Holly for taking care of us. We can't wait to return!
