One of Derbys best bars in terms of the genres of music it plays, which is a mixture of RnB, Dancehall, UK Funky and Bassline.
Was a regular in 2008 whilst in my 1st year of Uni, must say my 1st visit lead to many many more.
The door and barstaff were polite and friendly, the music was top quality none of your watered down rubbish, the interior is cheaply decorated but is still nice, there is an outdoor seated area which had 3 or 4 tables with chairs and 2 sofas, finding a seat indoors proved difficult as there were many people standing round them, however I was in a late bar and was there to dance not sit down!
Missed the place when back in my hometown and even came back once during my holidays just to go to Deez!
When returning to Uni in September started coming to Deez again and was dissapointed to see some of the doorstaff gone and replaced by the sulky imploite type, as were some of the barstaff in place of the nice friendly faces was one miserable looking bar lasy who seemed only intrested in serving males and didn't make eye contact with us even though she knew we were waiting, when she finally did serve us her skills were something you wouldn't expect very bad bar skills.
hasve been a few times this year luckily the moody one from behind the bar seems to have gone, 1 or 2 of the doorman have been replaced yet again by more friendlier ones, the bar does seem to be letting many young immature boys in who seem to be in staring competitions with one another, alot of the seating outdoors has seem to have dissapeared aswell
Deez is still a good night out it just needs to get that oomph back once more
one more thing and this really is my only major gripe, the toilets need to be checked more often as toilet roll or lack of it is a problem as are the lack of locks on toilet doors.
Reccomended if you are into urban music and don't want to sit down! read more
