American K9 Dog & Cat Grooming

(16 reviews)

LOVE American K-9! For the first time ever, my 2 dogs happily go inside a grooming salon. Even if…read moreit's just for a quick nail trim, they never hesitate. That's cuz they get cookies and lots of pets from the groomers! I just saw the previous yelp ratings for Deb and her crew. Very sorry for the pet owners involved. However in the past 3+ years, I have not had a bad experience and my dogs are FAR from easy to handle or groom. I routinely recommend American K-9 and everyone has been satisfied. Remember to always discuss the cost of services rendered up front with your groomer or your vet. Then you won't be surprised when you have to pay the bill.

Never, ever take your cat to American K9 for grooming. I have taken my ragdoll there twice in the…read morepast and they did a wonderful job, but last month I went there on a Sunday and arrived at the same time as 2 other cat owners. Julie was the only one there and I offered to bring my cat back when she was ready. "Oh, no. I schedule 3 at a time and have a production line. Works better this way." I disagree. Works better for Julie, not for my cat. When she asked if I wanted a lion cut, I replied, "No, I hate that. Absolutely not." I asked if she had notes from previous visits. She replied she bought the business 2 months ago and did have notes from previous owner, but had not read them yet. Smart. I told her I wanted a trim all over. Loved what they had done before. Looked like a stuffed animal. So cute. When I picked him up, she told me she had to give him a lion cut. Unable to do what I asked. She also told me how well behaved he was, so that wasn't the problem. I looked in the carrier and saw only his head and tail. I was not happy, but left. When I let him out of the carrier at home, I was horrified! He looked like he had been skinned. No hair at all on body. His head was still furry, but had been chopped up so bad it looked like he was deformed. Never have I seen such a terrible job. When I called back on Thursday to complain, I was told Julie had surgery and would not be back, that she was starting a new business on the side. I was told by "Julie's daughter" that they always groom cats like that. Why wasn't I told that when I arrived? Julie told me she had been grooming for 38 years and knew what I wanted. Her "daughter" was very rude and dismissive. NEVER AGAIN! A waste of $75.00.
