The way it played out was that I reached out to several boat rental companies in the North Lake Tahoe area based on their Yelp profiles, and the friendliest response I got was from this team. Based purely on that, I picked up the phone and called them, and the person who spoke with me helped answer several questions in an extremely pleasant way. She also advised me that the weather was going to get better in a few days, which is why we chose not to go boating on Sunday, which was our preferred day, but instead picked Wednesday, which turned out to be exceptionally pleasant. She asked me to research the boats and pick our best option from the website. I shared a picture from the Yelp page with her through text, based on which she guided me toward their premium boat, which had the bimini top that we needed. The check-in process was extremely welcoming. It was all done over my mobile phone. The insurance packages were also surprisingly affordable. We picked the intermediate option, which was, I believe, about $50. I could not stop staring at the water while we were checking in. It felt like we were in Miami. The water was turquoise-colored, and it was a perfect day in the low 70s. Our guide was Lidia. She and her entire team were exceptionally friendly. They did not rush us at all, even though I had my 79-year-old father with me. She, along with another staff member and me, helped my elderly parents onto the boat. I really wanted them to enjoy the ride instead of waiting outside for three and a half hours. I loved how Lidia helped me get comfortable with the boat while she was on board with us. She had me go full throttle and make an aggressive turn to show me just how safe and stable the boat was. I didn't go nearly that fast or make nearly as sharp a turn later, but it was good to know just how capable the boat was. I also loved how they take you out of the crowded marina area. Once you are in open water, they use their own rubber dinghy to get back to their office while we can enjoy the lake without having to worry about maneuvering around other boats near the docks. At one point, we accidentally got close to shore because we had not seen some large boulders on the way out. We were actually a bit lost and had gotten too close to shore in the wrong area. I was pleasantly surprised to receive a text from Lidia reminding us to be careful and stay away from shore, which was great to see. This meant that they keep an eye on the boat from their office. Cellular coverage was fantastic, and we were able to use Google Maps and stream music from every part of the lake, which felt great because, if we had any questions, we could just call Lidia. When we came back, Lidia found a spot that was even more accessible for my father, which helped him get off the boat much more easily. Overall, I could not have asked for anything better, and the entire experience was just perfect. We will 100% be returning to North Lake Tahoe and renting from NLTBR again as repeat customers.

My kids chose the 2-hour Class C - 20 feet open Bow Speed Boat ($478). I thought we would have a driver with us to take us out but no.... They showed my kids how the boat operates, took us out to the open water, and let us loose! There was eight of us on board. It was beautiful out on the water, with the rocking waves, and beautiful scenery and sky. But not when you have my kids driving it like a race car on water. We were rocking like crazy and we all got wet. Especially my grandchildren sitting at the front, who were drenched! I told my kids to slow down, but they say, "he said we could floor it." OMG!! The kids had to put on life jackets and the adults were told there are emergency life jackets on board. Well, with my kids enjoying what the boat can do, I threw on my life jacket! I admit, my kids are very responsible drivers on land. They had so much fun driving the boat in the wide open lake. As scared as I was of possibly being overtaken by waves or capsizing, it was an amazing experience, and it felt so good out there. Absolutely beautiful!! I really enjoyed it, and the staff were great. They know exactly what they're doing. The water started to get kind of choppy, so we ventured back towards the shore after an hour, called them on the radio, and staff came out on a dingy to help dock the boat so that we can safely get out. I am so glad I went on this excursion. If you love the water and drifting up and down with the waves, this is a must try!

We went on the 2PM cruise today and had fantastic weather for a lake cruise. They advised us to start lining up around 1:30p, started boarding around 1:45p and were promptly cruising following key safety messages. Key things to note below: -There is available seating toward the front outside, if you appreciate some sun and a cool breeze these may be the seats for you! -Guests moved in and out throughout the cruise, we opted to stay in for most of it but had no issues moving around outside to take photos comfortably. -Snacks and drinks are available for purchase onboard. -They had comfy blankets available inside to take outside to keep warm (very nice touch and they appeared to be very clean) -They did a great job slowing down in Emerald Bay and highlighting wildlife nearby for viewing and photography. -Don't forget to bring cash to tip the well-deserving crew! -We had a cool mix of tourists and locals to chat with on the cruise. -There are padded bench style seats indoor and plastic chairs as well. The upper deck also had seating (no shade up top aside from some in the front) -There are restrooms on board, I didn't use them but they were available. Highly recommend for a relaxing and informative cruise around South Lake Tahoe & Emerald Bay. Will definitely cruise again on our next visit to South Lake Tahoe. Star employee - The gal in the ticket office helped us as our tickets printed oddly. She confirmed we were on the list and would be able to board without it. She was so friendly & set a cheerful tone for the day. :) Note, I typically never write reviews this quickly but they did an amazing job and we had a few minutes to spare before dinner nearby. :) Happy Sailing!

Looked to Yelp to help me find a tour that worked for us and happy to find Tahoe Lake Tours! Booking online was easy enough. Looking on Wednesday for a Friday morning time slot and there it was: 9:30-1:30 was perfect. The web site states exactly what will happen during the 4 hours and offers a phone number to call for questions. Parking and check in were easy and Captain Dan was ready for us. The boat was clean and well stocked with life jackets that fit for both adults and children (ages 8,6,4) as well as water bottles. Before leaving the dock we were offered water for a cooler which we didn't need but the offer was appreciated. Our 4 hours: 1. Safety information 2. Review of our preferences for the tour 3. Lots of history of the area as we toured 4. Emerald Bay & Mrs. Knights castle 5. Water tubing (first time for the grandkids) 6. Hang out time for a snack (we brought lots LOL) 7. Back to the marina Dan was very knowledgeable and great with the kids. We would definitely book with Tahoe Lake Tours again and request Captain Dan. Thank you for a great ending to our week in Tahoe!

Captain Troy was accommodating, kind, hospitable, professional and knowledgeable. He took us to breathtaking sites including Emerald Bay, Fannette Island, Vikingsholm, and Rubicon Bay. He even called in advance to accommodate a better start time to ensure we had the best weather. We could not have asked for a more perfect day. Booking was easy and he answered all my questions beforehand. We highly recommend this company.

They were definitely right, I never spilled my drink! I love that we were able to bring our own food and drinks because I am super picky about both but they had ice and everything we needed on board. The captain, Robbie, was so informative and knew a lot of about the properties and other features along the lake. I spent a lot of my time sitting on the upper deck with him learning about it all. We cruised up towards Incline Village to admire all the houses and coves from the water side. I have been here a lot but had never seen most of it from that side. There are some super cool houses along that route. The 'first mate,' Dana, was super sweet and helpful. She found us everything we needed but knew exactly when to give us space to enjoy. Wether sitting on the front of the boat on the large cushions, on the upper deck in the shade, or in the cabin, it was extremely comfortable. The nice thing about the front is the cushions are so giant multiple people can lay out in the sun, but worry not, when we got too hot we just moved inside or upstairs. I heard you can even book them for longer excursions and would love to take a custom full day trip down to Emerald Bay someday. A girl can dream!
