The local musicians are great about supporting Begnaud House and its activities and some of the names are very well-known locally, such as Chubby Carrier. We decided to check the place out before the Friday night jam and were glad we did. Staff was friendly and extremely helpful with info on events and activities all throughout Cajun Country. They sell cookbooks, Cajun and zydeco music CDs, and other assorted gifts. We also learned that Scott LA is the Boudin Capital - who knew?? There are four spots for boudin less than a mile from Begnaud House and at lease one of those places justifies the reputation. They offer group classes on Cajun dancing, language, crawfish farming, and other activities upon request. All in all a great experience and nice to have a local with so much knowledge of area restaurants, music and businesses.

We couldn't have picked a better day to visit the area, the temperature was perfect with low humidity and no bugs - you must allow yourself plenty of time to soak in the peaceful surroundings and get out of your vehicle to get up close to the wonders of this garden. Besides the beautiful grounds and water structures there are plenty of surprises you'll discover along the way we unfortunately didn't see any alligators or deer today but there were an abundance of birds, a few turtles basking in the sun and lots of squirrels scurrying through the grounds and giant oak trees. This is a beautiful place and just one of the wonders you'll find while exploring Louisiana I've lived in Louisiana for almost half my life and I'm still amazed at the beauty this state has to offer this is just one of the many places that's preserved and protected for generations to enjoy and appreciate...

Everything was delicious. We were gifted a 3 oz container of NuNu's Cajun seasoning. 4. Fezzo's Seafood, Steakhouse & Oyster Bar in Broussard. Doc had Tabasco ice cream on her mind to try before we arrived but sadly when she entered the Country Store they told her the machine was out of order. I purposely packed a new outfit- red skirt and red and white top especially to wear to the Tabasco Museum. I should have tried it on before putting them in the suitcase. Doc was not a fan. So.., I went into the store a second time and bought a T-shirt with cartoony gators on it. There were LOTS of very loud kids on a school field trip. For sure we weren't going into the museum or tour. I did find quite a few Tabasco curios, soup mix, etc for family.
