The crew were so patient with my kids and went above and beyond to make the bay fishing trip fun for my sons! We caught catfish, whiting, pufferfish and other fish. Everyone in our group caught atleast 5 fish each and the crew also taught us a lot about the fish. My sons said this was their "best day ever" and can't wait to come back!

    Bay fishing

Everyone on board caught multiple fish. It was our younger childrens' first time bay fishing. the captain and Hannah ensured the kids caught something and felt at ease on the boat. Very happy with this trip and would recommend!

Fish I caught on the trip.

We went with my husbands sister and brother in law. He had been before and had met on of the crew while fishing at the pier. Lloyd and Cam took great care of us, helped us catch fish while being safe. Cam was very knowledgeable and helped us to learn. I caught the biggest fish I've ever caught in my life!! With the help of Captain Jake! TY!! The boat is fairly crowded. Lines get tangled when fish are fighting but the crew helped to make sure the fish came in again while keeping everyone safe! It was a blast! Helped to catch a big ass fish.

Price is good for a 5 hour trip, but that's 2 hours out to sea, about an hour of fishing and two hours to get back to shore. Everything is provided for you, and the crew takes care of the fish caught and hands your catch back once docked. Crew is as friendly as any fishing crew can be, and the boat ain't much but a big metal fishing vessel with an indoor area but not a whole lot of seating available. For me, the bad part was the ride out to sea on super choppy waters where rides look over 10 feet tall. It was fun at first with gallons of sea water spraying on you and just a rocking motion. But as soon as the waves got higher the boat would go up, hang for a bit and then slam back down on the water. I tolerated it for about 90 minutes and boy did it become painful. But once we reach the location there were fish everywhere. Everyone caught at least two fishes, but some were too small so they had to be thrown back in the water. I ended up with two great redfishes that were yummy later that evening. I would suggest to either ask the captain or check weather reports for those choppy waters or that 2 hours will be painful!!

4th year on the 12hr trip and limited out on red snappers again. It was a rough weather trip this year and no vermilions were caught this time. My only complaint was the boat was way overloaded with people this year with lots of tangles the whole time. In the past there were only about 25 to 30 people fishing on the boat which was perfect. This time there was 52 which made fishing very challenging. 25 to 30 people is optimal, I wish they would just limit it to that. But all and all had a good time

Everyone caught their limit of Red Snapper and then we went to another location to catch shark. Which a couple of people caught some. It was alot of fun. The crew was great.

    October 17th, 2025: 60 hour tuna trip!

First long range tuna trip for me and definitely not my last. Deep sea headquarter's captain and crew worked tirelessly. The deck hands were on standby to help every moment on the 60 hour trip...hardest working men in the business. The boat caught its limit of yellowfin tuna thanks to the hard working crew! Definitely recommend DSH if you want this experience.

This was my first time deep sea fishing and I had a blast! It was a long and cold boat ride but the fishing part was so fun. The deckhands Robert and Malachi were running around helping everyone and collecting fish. Our boat had about 30 people on it and everyone limited out. Look forward to going again soon!

    Fish

The deckhands were very helpful. We did catch fish, but my daughter caught the biggest fish on the entire boat. I was not happy that we were fishing for catch and release. I could have done that a lot cheaper off the dock or on the beach.

    Fish, every time!

It was ok. Staff was nice, didn't catch anything. Was a reasonable cost and trip wasn't long, so price was ok....

The pirate crew is very engaging and get into character. The boarding process was very seamless and they provide instruction when entering and exiting the ship to keep everyone safe. The ship looks exactly like what you would expect a red pirate ship to look like. They have plenty of covered and open searing to choose from. There is an adult searing area but it does tend to fill up quickly. The ship has a bar and offers a variety of cocktails, drinks and snacks. They don't allow outside food onboard. They have a variety of activities planned for the kiddos to keep them entertained. My nephews particularly liked the treasure hunting portion where they weee able to collect hidden golden coins and other treasures like beaded necklaces throughout the ship. They also had swashbuckling, sword fighting and just the general banter to keep adults entertained. The kids all looked like they were having a blast and making new friends. We did see a few dolphins but definitely not as many as when on the dolphin cruise. There are times when the music is blasting pretty loud when you get a break from the stimulation from the interaction during activities. I wasn't sure what to expect but they did a great job keeping both adults and kids entertained through an engaging adventure. I would recommend this experience if you are in or around Port A.

We visited both morning and afternoon, and found that the selection of birds was somewhat different each time. It also made sense, for photography purposes, to visit at different times because we found quite a few beautiful migrating birds in the mulberry and willow trees, and the lighting was best there in the afternoon. There are multiple areas for birding. The entry walk has some willow and mulberry trees where birds congregate. In spring, the mulberry provides fruit for the birds and is a favorite for migrating species. Past the entry there are boardwalk to view (mostly) water birds. There are a couple of covered observation decks as well, and these provide the only shade in the boardwalk area. If you're prone to getting bitten by mosquitoes, do use repellent before visiting. The parking area nearest the entry was being enlarged during our visits, so we ended up in the overflow parking area on the other side of the water treatment facility. This is a great place to see resident and migrating shore birds, as well as inland species during migration. We saw buntings, videos, tanagers, warblers, orioles, and other migrating species during our most recent visit... a feast for the eyes!

We got to see the Pink Flamingo last week. One of the best places to see shore/water birds. There is a resident alligator that is around sometimes. Bigger parking area coming soon.
