During this time, we've been stay here at Sharp Park Campground. Diana, Jess and Val have all been extremely welcoming and never once did our family feel that we were camping rather, we felt as if we were "home" and felt like we became part of the family there. I am so blessed to have found Sharp Park as it will also be part of our new chapter of our lives. Thank you so very much for making us feel welcomed and like family. We have since then found a place so as of October 3 we will be moving to our new place .

We were all the way at the other end of the campground and it's a pretty long walk back to the store/pool. First of all we met a guy outside who said he was "just the guy on the golf cart" but he gave off very rude vibes. Like when we asked if we can park by the pool he said "we would especially like it if you parked at your campsite".. in a very rude way. The lady showed us where we can park though, so that was nice. He also made a big deal about me getting $100 cash back and acted like he had to charge me a ton, when it was only $3. Honestly if I based this place on his attitude alone I would not come back. I really hope he is not the owner. I bought like 6 slim Jim/cheese sticks and ate maybe 5 between everyone in my campsite and realized when I got home that they were expired!! So gross! Like why not check your expiration dates?? But the pool and showers were VERY NICE for a campground. They have some very cool activities on weekends. The river access is AMAZING and the river wasn't flowing fast so we were able to use an inflatable kayak and just go up and back down the river instead of parking a car somewhere else. The porta potty is super spidery and cobwebby so that was disappointing. They need to spend more time keeping them clean!! Mini golf looked nice but costs $3 a person. That's dumb to me since it's something we assumed came with the cost! Also, you have to pay a deposit on literally everything. $10 to be able get a key fob to get back in the locked gate after hours. I think that is ridiculous. And $2 just for the code to get in the pool. Why wouldn't they just leave it unlocked?? Very strange power dynamic at this campground. It feels like they think they own you while you are camping here. I felt like a child with parents watching over me. Also, the noise ordinance is NOT enforced. I didn't mind, but some with little babies in tents might. It is VERY LOUD in tents at night. This is an extremely crowded campground, small sites. Lots of traffic throughout the day because the pool and store is such a far walk. Bathrooms are a far walk from most sites Overall, I would come here again. It's very well kept and we didn't get very dirty at all!

Too cold for canoeing in mid October but we don't usually go out for that anyway. Some very distant traffic noise that is not a problem. A very big rug might be challenging for some but I parked my 41' RV with 22' trailer attached. I took advantage of the "pay for three nights and the fourth is free" deal which makes it a great value also. Stay up top near the office for the best experience. Some sites on the river are trashy and trailers look abandoned. We'll be back.

Birds journeys that led them to be at the sanctuary. Usually you get to feed them but not today since they had a flu going around. Nice paved paths to walk on for strollers and wagons. Bathroom area to use if you need to go. Swans are so much bigger in up close viewing.

The whole sanctuary is a great place for singles, couples, families and anyone who enjoys wildlife. Young kids get a thrill out of seeing the birds. And in non COVID times can feed them too. Adding to children's enjoyment. There are some birds in captivity (usually rehabbed animals) which are common in Michigan. Then the lake and ponds are great places to see waterfowl in their natural habitat. This is a treasure in Kalamazoo county. And a place not to be missed.

Silver Creek Horseman's camp has about 80 sites offering primitive camping. 10 of the 80 sites are…read morereserved for no horses and almost all are shaded. The camp offers 320 acres of camping and trail riding on the park grounds. Since there is state land adjacent, there are many more additional miles to keep you busy for days. The camp offers pump water and pit toilets but Silver Creek also runs through the park so it easy to take the horses down to the creek to water. Some of the sites have high line poles for 3 horses but most only have poles for two (feel free to email me if you want to know which sites have three). You are definitely not allowed to tie to trees. Portable pens are allowed but they must stay in the high line area. The park is very clean and sites are checked after each person leaves. If you don't clean up your site, you will receive a fine in the mail--which I love because I get sick of people not picking up after themselves. Fees are $10 per night and reservations can be made on the website notes in this posting. There is also a day staging area and there is a trail fee of $2 per horse. There are a lot of wonderful opportunities for activities that go on at the park. WHAM puts on a judged trail ride that is a ton of fun and there is also the Cancer Ride which is a benefit ride. Sites are usually gone way in advance for the cancer ride. This is truly a wonderful place to camp and it is the best place to pass the fall, summer and spring! Say hi when you get there. My family stayed in the cabin while my husband and I stayed in our trailer at a site. Michelle, the…read moremanager, was very polite and helpful with all communication. The cabin is perfect for the price, the beach was clean and safe for my grandchildren. We even saw five swans on the lake. The rec room and bathrooms were clean. That being said, our campsite was quite a different story. We were squished between two campers, with drinking and partying going on until two a.m. If you go for the reasonably priced cottage, it is quiet and all the surrounding campers are nice. The tent sites looked quiet, although wet, as well. Steer clear of the trailer site, it is cramped and noisy.

I arrived by bike - if you go here, that statement will impress the hell outta you - along the mostly unimproved roads (though the one right outside the park is paved) and camped by tent. There was firewood for sale, and drinks & ice, and ice cream treats, but no real food (Stop at the Little Store up in nearby Fennville before hand: it's great!) The owners are friendly - even delivered firewood - and I had a decent tent spot. The facilities were very nice: clean bathrooms, and very nice showers! The lake was nice, and I enjoyed my stay, but getting there and back again was something.

There's a nice staging area just past the registration station (the only charge to enter is a…read morerequirement to have the Michigan recreation passport, which is only $11 yearly for MI. residents and a bit more for out-of-staters). The main trailhead is just across the road from the parking lot designated for staging. There's many miles of paths here, ranging from relatively easy to hilly and dodgy. Be sure to stay on the paths designated for cycling since there are a few pedestrian only trails, too. This area is incredibly beautiful in the fall. Devil's Soup Bowl is our favorite of the trails.
