This review is bordering on four but I decided to take one star off and settle at 3.
Read my previous reviews about how difficult it is to find good solid Indian take away in Amager? Well, I recently discovered that the Vesterbro restaurant Deep opens a new place in Amagerbrogade. I know the original Deep from an Indian friend who recommended it to me.
I ordered Rogan Josh (spicy) and Vegetable Kofta (spicy) - (I like that you could choose the spiciness of different dishes when you order online) to be delivered since I wasn't in the mood for cooking. The website said it would take 60 mins, but it after 40 or something.
First impression: The container was small! Instead of the usual alu foil rectangular box that most warm food served with, these were mere square, as in much less in portion! I think that's a bit too expensive for the price they asked (Rogan Josh and Veg Kofta were both 95kr)
However the taste was amazing! It turned out I liked more the Vegetable Kofta (mm!) much more than the lamb but the lamb was also the kind that melt in your mouth kind of. In most crappy Indian take aways you could hardly tell the difference between the sauces, but here you most definitely could, both sauces were good but my favourite was clearly the Vegetable Kofta.
Another sign that convinced me that this is more of the "authentic" Indian place is that they didn't serve beef but serve lamb instead as most "real" Indian places are. I've seen too many Indian take aways that caters Danes' wishes and have beef on the menu. Nope! As much as I love beef more than lamb, that's just ain't right. Although when it comes to Indian food, the vegetarian dishes always attract me more than the meat dishes (and since I don't eat chicken...)
As I said, it should be four stars, but down to three because they're pricey and the portions were tiny. I should try to dine in to see whether their portions improve in size, though.
Another tips is to download their order app, then you save the delivery fee (which is only 20kr - probably an opening offer at the moment).
That said, it's at least nice to find a good decent solid Indian in Amager at least. read more
