The quality of workmanship fell well below acceptable standards for a "professional" company. Several aspects of the work must be redone due to sloppy execution, poor attention to detail, and a lack of basic finishing. Materials were not installed properly, and many areas were left incomplete or hastily patched up. I am now left with a questionably built awning, leaking roof, and many unfinished cosmetic issues that require a reputable company to come out and fix. Please see pictures. In terms of professionalism, communication was often inconsistent and unclear. Attempts to address concerns were met with defensiveness rather than a willingness to resolve the issues. I expected a higher level of accountability and pride in the work being performed. Based on this and my experience I would never recommend Browns Custom Construction.

Dustin Schemmel replied almost immediately to my inquiry asking for additional information and specifics to the part I was looking for. After providing the info that he requested and explaining my difficulty in obtaining these parts closer to home, he got back to me the same day with several options. He went over the cost per part verses the value of excess order capacity, while explaining how the overall measurement and weight of the parts affect the shipping fees and freight limitations. He was very generous with his information, providing several scenarios that could possibly fit my needs, and at no time did I feel pressured to make a purchase. I approved the quote in April and was told it would be 5 weeks for installation. At the end of May…read moreI was asked if I made the initial half down payment, which a link was never sent to me Initially. Instead of recognizing their error and placing me higher on their installation list, I was placed on bottom. I did not hear from them between April and end of May, and did not hear from them as to when my fence would be installed. At the beginning of July, I emailed about my frustration with lack of communication and how long this was taking since I approved the quote in April. They responded that day and the next week, they showed up to install. Contractor said it would be two days. With no additional clarification, I assumed that day and the next. Nope, that day and another day.....no information given as to when the second day would be. We had a Kentucky board, western style fence installed to keep 2 dogs in, with two access gates. Within 10 seconds of letting my dogs out, one of them got out of the fence at the gate. Come to fine out the gage of fence used behind the Kentucky board is bendable by hand. When I contacted the owner, he said this was not a normal problem. I find that hard to believe as my dog is nothing special. We had to fix the new fence ourselves. We have had to fix several additional places where the gage of the original fence is not holding up. It's too week and I can bend it myself. Decent work, quality of the product is poor, and communication is pitiful at best. Not worth the cheaper price - you get what you pay for.......

Mr. Potter came to talk to us and was here when they began installing. The people he had do the installing were great, they worked until the fence was complete in 18 or 19 degree weather!
