Again this is someone whose shirt i complimented, with whom both of us had been cordial, but could not be talked into a calm state. All of this because i leveled with him and expressed nebulously aimed frustration over a job that didn't last for the drive home, as the explanation for why i was asking for a redo. I asked him, "i mean objectively, you can understand why I would expect it to last till i reached home two miles away?". His rumination on the phrase "i felt ripped off" in response to the crashwrap beginning to peel off 0.5 miles from the facility was self-driven. That being said, why even recommend this as a temporary fix if I can't drive home with it? I would've liked it done right the first time and that's fair to express. We don't have to agree or see eye to eye and it's his right to feel I'm overly difficult. It was suggested that I should've cleaned my car first, not that they should've wiped it down the first time before applying wrap. (The car wasn't in the shop to have any crashwrap applied, so why would I have wiped it?) Ultimately I paid $104 to get an issue diagnosed and temporary tape put on the sunroof. I'm frustrated that I'm out $100 and the issue is not any closer to being fixed. The technician himself was amiable and communicative and the owner is also a pleasant man to work with. That being said this experience has burnt this spot for me. Having a disagreeable person work for you isn't a dealbreaker but maybe don't place him front of house.

A simple google search can prove that this is a huge over estimate. (Subaru later quoted $360 parts and labor). I called and expressed my concern about how the estimate was that high. The justification given was "that's what my system says, I cannot help you". They cleared my code without any mechanical fix and told me I was "ready to go". Check engine light came back on the drive home. These guys don't want to help their customers. They overcharge for labor, and prey on those not knowledgeable about their vehicles. Stay away and take your vehicle to any of the other shops along broad st.

My story: a 3-year-old problem, which involved constant overheating and sometimes stalling was caused by a damaged head-gasket, which is one of the things i was considering, but whenever i took it to a place, the mechanics kept the car overnight (so the car cooled down enough not to look like it had a problem) and these other auto-shops "found something else," which wasn't even a big deal and worked on that instead. There were four others i took it to...they all found something else, which was besides the point completely. That added up to a lot of pointless payments, money (almost) wasted. By the time i got to Lakeside Auto, it was probably too late and my engine (in a 2003 Honda Civic) had already seen enough overheating, and Lakeside Auto was the first (and last?) --we'll say the ONLY-- auto-shop that recognized or even noticed my problem and didn't deny it. They even let me drive it back and kept the car in their lot for several days and, i guess, monitored my car for me. Least expensive babysitter ever! If only i had gone to them sooner...
