Very often specialist shops can have staff that think they are über cool for working there - not here, eager to help without being intrusive, and they chat to you about the product without trying to get you to buy - which is great - they provide the info and let you come to your own decision. This doesn't seem to be an exclusive to the Birmingham store - the Manchester one is similar. I'd thoroughly reccomend 10/10.

This is great for accessories and normally have a few brands of the item you are looking for so at least you have a choice. This is situated right in the heart of Lichfield but could be easily missed. Well worth going to have a look even if you do not need anything

I came in during a sale and thought the original prices were a costly but worth it and it was great to see high quality products at more reasonable prices. When visiting independently owned stores (especially outdoor specialists) I often find that the products aren't good quality and the shop is often cluttered and messy. Here it felt like they had a lot of things happening but store is very spacious and looks much more professional. Rather than piling things up on the floor, like many other stores of its kind, the staff have smartly attached items to the walls. The staff were polite as they greeted me and offered help soon after I walked in. They were also helpful by giving any information I wanted to know about the products.

However, Oswald Bailey's is much closer to a professional chain such as Millets or something similar. They've laid everything out very clearly and have a lot on show without making it confused. Most importantly, they've got great prices, more than competing with the big chains, and always have loads of deals on. I recently bought two fold up camping chairs for just £20, and they're significantly better quality than similar ones I bought from B&Q last year. Highly recommended.

Anyway recently myself and my family have been going walking a lot, a. to keep fit but b. its a great way to spend time with your family, anyway, i wanted a berghaus coat, as my son, daughter and husband all have them, and they are brilliant. Normally i would just order over internet, but since i was in town thought i'd try them out. The staff are fantastic, this great guy helped me choose out the best style for me, i went for the fleece and then the wind deflector that goes over it. Also when in there i realised they have loads of bargains, and was definatly as expensive as i originally thought. Obviously some items on high end quality products that definatly come with a price tag - but there are bargains to be had. I was also shocked of how many different things they sell, they had some great beach stuff and picnic baskets etc, and all at great prices. The store is laid out well, and is near the lifts that come down from the carpark, so great access. Staff, products, store etc are all great and i will definatly be going in there more often now.

I had a stubborn bottom bracket with mangled spline teeth on a second hand frame I had been riding…read morefor months which had developed an unsettling creaking sound. I took the bike to sprocket and asked about replacement if they could get it out. The staff were very helpful and when I said it might not be possible to save the frame, out of curiosity they put the bike straight on the shop stand to have a proper look at it. Minutes later I was walking out with a brand new bottom bracket installed. Very impressed. Reasonable prices. These guys love a challenge.

I headed down to Sprocket Cycles to get a quote on fixing my death-trap of a bike after nearly…read morehaving a stroke in Evans when they quoted me £80 to replace my brake cable and tighten my wonky wheel. Yes - I could fix it myself but I am lazy and my bike is 50 years old so figured I'd just get a quote and see if someone professional could give it a once over. Not sure who I spoke to at Sprocket but he was very helpful and quoted me £28 for the same job. What a nice guy! I'll be taking 'Star Rider' (yes) down for a service very soon! The shop is located not far from Moor Street and is next to Warehouse Cafe and the vegan shop.
