After 3 years of consideration (mainly due to cost) I finally decided to take Debra Macki's Makeup Class in June 2016. When I first met Debra, I couldn't believe how kind she was. For a 'Celebrity Makeup Artist' I was not expecting her to be so genuine. Right away I liked her! There is no ego at all! She was so nice and real and I left that first class thinking how awesome she was and how happy I was to finally be following my dream! The class itself is fast pace, but the thing I loved most about it, is the fee you pay for the class doesn't only pay for the class itself, you also get a talented Mentor for life, which I truly feel is priceless since she is willing to help her students any way she can! Another thing I loved is that Debra has her own Makeup line and brushes! For an Artist just starting out in the business, her Complete Makeup Kit gave me the boost of confidence I needed to show up at my first job as a Pro MUA. I have since added a few products here and there to my kit but mostly, I still use all hers because they are awesome quality! Also, her Brush Set is a MUST HAVE! Her eyeliner brush is truly one of a kind and I use it more than any other brush I have. Since completing in July, I have been on a Makeup Retreat with Debra, and am also attending another one in March 2017. Her energy is so positive you just want to be around her, if not only for learning, then for her energy itself! Everyone wants to be around a good vibe! She is honest and available for me whenever I have questions, or to simply critique my work-she is only a text away. Despite her being so busy, she always responds to me. ***I will say to anyone debating on taking her class- TAKE IT! I took Debra's Vegas class and it was awesome! I have always been good at beauty and fashion and decided to take her class to get certified to work on others. Even though I considered myself to be good at makeup on my own without training, I learned that certain techniques that I did on a daily basis were actually wrong. I have honestly improved my looks and confidence to do makeup and am constantly asked by friends to do their makeup. She definitely gave me the confidence to work on others. Even though my profession is in radio and television, it is GREAT to be able to perform my makeup services on the side and make extra $$! You become well educated in the makeup/beauty industry and she not only teaches you the art of makeup, but the business side as well. It is great when I go to social networking events and if I happen to mention to a group of people that I am a certified makeup artist and took classes from Debra Macki. I suddenly receive more attention from people just by mentioning her because everyone knows about her and is suddenly interested in how the class went. I tell them all she is awesome! She is very attentive and caring, and even stays in touch with her students even after the course (which says a lot considering what a busy schedule she has!). Ever since I was a little girl I have had a passion for makeup. Taking Debra's makeup class was one of the best decisions of my life. She has inspired me in so many ways and i cannot even begin to thank her enough. She taught me so much in so little time. Each day of her class we learned something new. I loved the fact that her classes are small (aprox 3-6 students) because it gave that 1-on-1 feel. Debra is such an inspiration to myself, and so many other people. She is so kind, fun, and so great at what she does. She went step by step in every lesson plan and made sure that every student was on the same page. She was so patient with her students and never rushed us along, she took her time in explaining and demonstrating everything so well. i cant even begin to thank her enough! If you are serious about your career or just love makeup you MUST sign up for Debra's class. The classes are perfectly small, and therefore you feel incredibly welcomed and comfortable. I know for myself I was nervous, I didn't have a lot of make up experience, girls can be judgmental, shes a "celebrity" make up artist, blah blah. But it's not like that at all! Put any hesitations aside, you will leave confident and friends or friendly with the people in your class including Debra! If you are willing to work for it, this woman will go above and beyond to help you! That week long class still holds some of my fondest career memories. It's a fun, thorough, well balanced class for any level. FYI I'm a licensed cosmetologist, I do mostly hair some skin care and to be honest I don't really offer makeup as a service. But thanks to Debra I understand makeup--shading highlighting contours of the face the color wheel( which is also helpful as a hairdresser) the list goes on and on. And I am a better artist because of her, as a professional and just in doing my own makeup. And knowing now that I'm not pursuing a makeup career I would still do it again in a heartbeat-- I still might :) I use the things she taught me everyday! read more

I knew I always wanted to take Debra Macki's class as soon as I started pursuing my Makeup Artistry career. I took Debra's class in Miami in 2010 and it was definitely well worth it! She is not just an amazing Makeup Artist, but a wonderful person and even better teacher! I learned new techniques, tips, products that I've never even heard of before and the most important, new ways to promote myself and really what I need to do to build my career and build my clientele! Debra Macki has a true passion for doing makeup and it shows. I was grateful and lucky enough to have taken her class in Boston, and walked away feeling confident and excited to take on my career as a makeup artist. I have always loved doing makeup and taking this class has made my dream into a reality. The class itself was very fun, informative and exceeded my expectations. I have been in the field for over 20 years. Debra's local class had been booked up everytime I wanted to get in. I was so excited to get into the November 2012 class. I felt as though I needed to get refreshed and be a student again (I teach the esthetics program at NSCC). Well, Debra's class gave me all that and much more. I don't think I slept much all week because of all the excitement that was running through my head. Debra is the most down to earth inspiring make up artist I know. It's no wonder she is a celebrity herself and so sucessful. I would highly recommend this class to anyone trying to break into the field or if your just in a rut and feel that your moving forward. This class is more than make up techniques. You will have all the other tools for sucess that you need by the end of the week. I took Debra's class in Las Vegas (February 2013). Best investment I made in myself to date. Having already been certified by a different course back in 2006, I was left wanting. When I found Debra's class on Facebook, I jumped at the chance to take it. She gives an option for a payment plan that made it possible for me to take her course. The transaction was super easy! The entire week long course was a blast. I met some amazing artists and learned about face and eye shapes, color theory, anti-aging techniques and there was lots of hands on experience. The knowledge I obtained from taking Debra's class has been priceless. Debra is such a talented and humble artist who finds true joy in teaching other artists. I attended Debra's first makeup retreat back in April, and it was an awesome experience! I loved being able to hang out with her and also meeting new artists. She had several workshops you could take, but I was only able to take 2: Color Theory and Business. In color theory, she taught what colors go best with each other, which colors match best with eye colors. I was expecting for her to do an actual demonstration on a model, but it was still a learning experience. And in the business workshop, she gave a lot of helpful tips. I would've loved to learn how she made it in the business, what her big break was, but again, I still learned a lot! I wasn't able to take any of the other workshops, but from what the other girls said, they were a lot of fun! Debra is a knowledgeable, approachable teacher who cares about her students and their success as much as her own. I liked how the class was small so you really received a lot one on one attention from her. She was so willing to answer any questions we had. I took Debra's class in July of 2012. What a wonderful week I had! Debra starts from the very basics and moves into much more detailed topics later in the week. The classes are just the right size so you are always working, but Debra is able to give lots of individual attention as well. You can be a beginner or advanced makeup artist to take her class. Debra Macki's class was such a great experience! She is very detail oriented and works closely with all the students and shares all her knowledge and experiences with everyone. My class was a smaller class and we were able to have lots of one on one time with her and really learn. Debra also never forgets her students, once you are a student of hers, you are always a part of her team.
