Amazingly compassionate!!!! True family run business. Prices are good but the people are the…read morebest!!! Thank you so much for the compassion you showed my friend with the cremation of his son. I will ALWAYS recommend you!!!

My family contracted with Mr. Woods to handle the arrangements for my uncle. We had agreed upon a…read moresimple cremation, and requested copies of the death certificate, which Mr. Woods said that he could provide for us. We live in Texas, so we were much relieved to find someone local who could manage everything for us. The cremation itself was without issue as far as we could tell. As my uncle's personal representative, I traveled to Jefferson City to begin wrapping up his affairs and to retrieve his ashes. At that time, I was told the death certificate copies were "not ready yet" and would be mailed. I asked that one copy be scanned and e-mailed as a PDF, so that the process of notifying companies and agencies could begin. Mr. Woods advised me that yes, of course, this should only be a matter of a few days. Several days and multiple unanswered communications (both phone and e-mail) later, we were finally informed that the death certificates were "on my desk" by Tyler Woods, but that he was out of town and would put them in the mail to us just as soon as he was back in town, stopping only to scan the requested copy for e-mail. Several more days passed. The credit card provided had long since been billed, so it was clear that Mr. Woods had some time to complete the affairs of his business. I spoke with Mr. Woods' assistant, who advised us of a medical emergency in the family, and promised that the matter would get attention just as soon as possible. The assistant apologized for not being able to send the death certificates and receipt but explained that Mr. Woods doesn't allow the assistants to do that paperwork. Given that knowledge, we waited patiently for several more days to allow Mr. Woods to deal with his emergency. I spoke with Mr. Woods again after the wait and was promised that the 'backlog' of work was being addressed that very day and that the e-mail copy would be sent that night. No such copy arrived. After several more unanswered calls and e-mail messages with escalating language (while always respectful), Mr. Woods finally sent a photograph (made with his cell phone?) and sent that through e-mail. This was not the PDF that was needed, which is produced during a scan of a document. A photograph of the document is not valid with any of the creditors or banks and was refused, as expected. We were unable to begin the probate process and were also unable to terminate service contracts or close accounts, and had to pay additional costs/fees out of pocket. After (6) weeks of this very tiring and frustrating process, the death certificates were received. They were mailed to the wrong person in our family but we did get them. The process date was listed as just a few days prior, making it clear that they had only just been submitted and approved by the state. In other words, Mr. Woods' initial claim of having them over a month earlier was simply a stall tactic. It has now been nearly three months and even though many attempts have been made to get a receipt for the $1,200.00 cremation, none has ever been received. We had to use a copy of our bank transaction statement to include with the probate paperwork in order to provide evidence of the cremation costs. Mr. Woods has taken unconscionable advantage of the fact that we are several hundred miles away to stall and evade us. Calls have gone unanswered, e-mails ignored. Promises have been made, broken, repeated, and broken again. Left without recourse to get him to complete the contracted tasks, we are forced to consider such drastic measures as legal action and reversing the charges paid for his services if we do not receive the promised documents soon. I can respect that Mr. Woods had a family emergency, but our family is, itself, grieving its own loss that should not be compounded by his thoughtless and careless inattention to his business. Also, he could have easily delegated these tasks to someone else in his office but seems to be micromanaging all operations of his company. We do *not* recommend using the services of this business.
