When a temporary housing situation fell through, my mother and I ended up homeless. In less than two weeks I found a new job, and we opted for a duplex Debco offered. We were accepted, but the email for the move in date didn't arrive. I didn't find out until the last minute. My mom was at that point admitted unexpectedly into the hospital where she stayed for over seven weeks. Debco refuses to return the deposit, even though we offered to allow them to keep it if they would apply it to a similar rental. They declined. Apparently not getting the email, and not having access to my mother's half of the almost $900 or more, we needed to move in, isn't considered extenuating circumstances. They view it as a breach of contract, even though I had no access to my mother's funds, and only had one pay check by the time they opted for us to move in, which they delayed for cleaning, then sped up so they could charge us for more for not even half a month of living in it. If I could no star this company I would. Jessica, a leasing agent there started out as expected, nice and informational. Made an appointment to see a home, day came and I missed the appointment for unforeseen and out of my control circumstances. I even called her back to apologize. She seemed sour, which is understandable, but when I called back a few days later to make another appointment for another home, she was Still sour. Her whole tone changed when she found out who she was talking to. I feel wrongfully discriminated for my familial status, being a mother. Even though they have homes that my family and I NEED, I feel she will do everything in her power to not let us rent/buy. Horrible for Debco business and the sellers/owners, as she is costing them money. I wouldn't recommend this business to the richest person in the world, not unless they got rid of Jessica. read more

This company is unprofessional, dishonest, and will cheat you out of your deposit! I took extremely good care of my duplex during my stay there, and cleaned it throughly before moving out. The day before the move-out inspection the agent told me that they only clean between tenants if the place is "really bad." I insisted on being there for the move out inspection because of the bad Google reviews I had read. The woman told me, "You took really good care of the place, but you didn't clean the oven so I'll have to send out a cleaner and that'll be $100 out of your deposit." They could have simply told Me up front that $100 would be taken out for cleaning, $100 taken out for carpet cleaning regardless of condition, etc. Instead they LIED. The agent tried to site me for a handful of other things, but fortunately I had been very thorough during my move-in inspection. In the end I got about half of my deposit back. If I hadn't been so thorough on my paperwork I would not have even gotten that back, based on the things she tried to "get" me in. I will discourage everyone I know from coming in contact with this company. READ THEIR GOOGLE REVIEWS! My family has lived at a debco run property for over a year. We just renewed our lease. The manager has always been kind. They don't bother us, but are quick to assist us the few times I've contacted them. Only a couple of small maintenance issues since we moved in and they were taken care of promptly. I wouldn't move from our location unless it no longer existed. Great location, great neighbors, great home, and great price. read more

This is a horrible company! We have a small dog and the property does not take animals so I said we would like to see the place and if we want it we will figure out what to do with her. Instead, they insisted we do something with the dog BEFORE even being allowed to view the home. There is absolutely no need for that whatsoever. I told her the dog was our thing to be handled as necessary and we wanted to see the place before making a decision. They also wouldn't accommodate us with our busy schedule by showing us the home at the tail end of their lunch hour. Then the woman was rude and practically hung up on me when I insisted on trying to see the house today, at our convenience. Too bad for them! I'd like to cast my vote against this company. They will steal your security deposit and charge you for crazy things when you move out. Our house was left in pristine condition and you could have eaten off the the floors. We were charged an enormous cleaning fee and $330 to repair siding that was already damaged before we moved in. It essentially boils down to stealing. I would steer clear of a house if they are the property managers. They are not pleasant and they are the epitome of unprofessionalism. Not a good company. Moody receptionist. She never greets me. If I don't greet her first, all I usually get is a scowl. They charged a non-refundable cleaning deposit, but did not clean the place before we moved in, it was filthy. They have no ability to accept payments online. So have to drive and pay rent in person each month. My previous residence accepted both secure rental payments and detailed maintenance requests via their website which was extremely convenient. Bad maintenance department. The lady we have to call to get anything fixed can be quite mean. I don't think her knowledge runs too deep, and she becomes stressed easily. When a legitimate, but somewhat complex problem came up that she had no clue about, she just tried to talk it down in an attempt to get me to accept it as something that can be lived with. When I continued to press for a resolution, she started to yell and give unfounded ultimatums. I stood my ground and after making excuses that were flat out lies, she finally gave in and sent someone out who only half fixed the problem. I had to spend my own money to fix it right. I met another tenant the other day who told me he does all the small maintenance items himself to avoid dealing with Debco. That is just not right, the property should be maintained by the owner via the management company. I doubt I would ever rent from a Debco managed property again. And I most certainly would never trust them to manage any real estate I owned. There are too many better, more professional, options out there. read more

This is the absolute worst company to rent from. There are many reviews online and all of them are very similar to the experiences that I had. The employees are rude and untrustworthy. To get something fixed is near impossible, and the lady that runs the maintenance department is highly rude and we actually got in a tiff over the phone and I am not the type of person to raise my voice to someone. I agree with the persons who wrote poor reviews about Debco. My experience was not good either. When my lease was up with the duplex I rented from Debco, I wanted and assumed I would have my $500.00 "Cleaning deposit" returned. I spent almost a week deep cleaning that place. Even rented carpet cleaning equipment. It was spotless! Cleaned things like under the stove top, everything. The cabinets in the bathroom were so scratched up, I even stained them while I lived there. When the lady did the walk through with me she even commented how spotless everything was, thus I expected to receive a check for my $500. Guess what, I received a statement in the mail that they were not returning my deposit and I owed them $35. What???? My advise, this is a very corrupt company. Do not rent from them. I leased a property from Debco for 2 years. I was very pleased with not only the office staff, but the maintenance crew. They have always been very polite and friendly to me. I have not had any issues with Debo and have sent several friends to them for rental property. What people need to realize is, they are a Management Company...they do not own the rental property and must abide by what the owner of the property gives them permission to do. Management companies do not have an open billfold to repair things as a homeowner might. They are on a budget from the owner of the property. If I could put a 0 for my review I would. This is the absolute worst company to rent from. They are rude and absolute terrible people. I have never had someone treat me the way that these people did. Anyone you talk to at this company is impolite and could care less about you, you are just money in the bank for them. I have never been so angry at a group of office employees that I have cursed at them on the phone. Until today. I have never gotten so much sour attitude from someone when trying to conduct business on the phone than I have with a woman who works at Debco, named Kay. I have never been treated so poorly by a company that I have jumped on the internet and started writing up a negative review, until now. I have lived in a Debco property for nearly a year, and I have only had to call the office a handful of times. EVERY TIME I've called, I've gotten the feeling that they don't care about anything that needed to be seen about with our complex. They completely refuse to work with me on the only small request I've ever had: Don't come in my apartment when I'm not home. When I was finally tired of being disrespected enough to say something about it, I was then patronized and lied to. I had a complaint and requested to speak to a supervisor, but instead they passed me around the office and openly mocked me. I have never rented from a management company like Debco, and they have ruined me. I will only rent from small-time, respectable landlords from now on. I honestly don't know if internet reviews end up helping others make the right decision or not, but here's hoping. If you want a good relationship with your landlord, or if you just believe in good customer service and being treated like a human being, DO NOT do business with Debco. read more
