I LOVE CROSSFIT FERRUM! I was soft, weak, and torturing myself with Spanx underneath every outfit…read more I automatically handed any new jar of anything to my husband to open because I was a weakling. I joined CrossFit Ferrum because it was the only gym I could find in the area that would allow my middle school daughter and I to work out together. I had no idea how life changing this decision would be. The first few days were intimidating. I walked in knowing nothing about CF. The lingo was new, the moves were new and the members were beautiful, super friendly people. Clearly, I didn't belong. Somehow I found the nerve to keep going back, so I did. In the beginning I was so sore it was hard to sit in a chair. The coaches kept telling me the workouts would help. I thought they were crazy, but they were right. Then something magical happened. I started to get stronger, leaner and more confident. It was wild! I was always the last to finish each WOD (workout of the day), but it didn't matter. I was improving! It is now eight months later. I look forward to going to the Ferrum each day. I have never been happier in my life (hello endorphins). I am pretty good at most of the movements, so I can focus on building strength. I have more confidence than I have ever had. I feel like I can move mountains, or at least run over one (who am I kidding-I still hate to run). My middle schooler is of few words, but I can tell you she feels the same. I can also tell you exercise has proven to turn a typical, moody middle schoolers day into a happy, upbeat and thankfully even keeled afternoon (there go those fantastic endorphins again). Now even my husband is a member and we can't wait until our son is old enough to join. CrossFit Ferrum is a place where anyone can find success because of the leadership, support and detailed guidance provided by the coaches. They will hold your hand each step of the way (not just during your first box jump). They will challenge you to do things you may never have thought possible for yourself.
