As there website intimates, Dear Green Place is a local "creative venture" aimed at providing people with the information and means to actively take part in the recycling of household and garden waste. With a nifty new website that allows you to enter your address and find the relevant recycling point for a number of goods, this really is a (buzz word warning!!) proactive initiative to involving people in recycling.
The site on Dalcross St is a den of reclaimed wood, furniture, plants (not reclaimed) herbs and other gardeny type stuff. Its kind of like an allotment that means business.
Situated in a wee street just off Byres Road and best found by taking a left directly as you exit the Kelvinhall underground (yes, around that dodgy wee alleyway) and following the hand crafted signs,
Its cool. I was quite surprised to see a large plot with cabins, plant beds and enough scrap wood and furniture to make you think you had stumbled across a secret tree product gathering, you know, the kind of thing that furniture does when you leave the room...just me eh?.
Anyway, over active imagination or not, this is an excellent oasis of green intention within a concrete city corner, well worth a visit and a bit of your support. read more
