Great selection of cigars and the guy working was really nice and helpful. They also have a great selection of alcohol.

This place is not open during their listed business hours. The last two times I stopped by it was around 10-11 and doors were shuttered closed..... It looks like a great little spot and I want to support a local business over a 711 but I cannot when it's 10am and it's completely chained up. Maybe only a afternoon joint. read more

A coworker of mine comes here for smokes. She says it's the cheapest place by work. The roommate normally stocks up on cigarettes, but every once in a while, I forget to grab a pack and I'm stuck buying a pack on my own. (We smoke Marlboro Smooth Menthols.) While the roommate buys by the carton, I pick up the occasional pack. Here, a pack was $6.09. The cashier was friendly and we were in and out of there quickly. Competitive pricing, fast, efficient and friendly. That's all I really need in a smoke shop. read more

PUFF ON THIS (4.5 stars) I know nothing about cigars and went cigar shopping for a Christmas gift. I guess go big or go home!!! 1) Went to a cigar shop that has a variety. Also important, how they care for the cigars. The cigar room in the back has a humidator and fan to preserve the freshness of the cigars. 2) Q&A. The two employees I've talked with here were as helpful as possible but were not very knowledgable about cigars and how to care for them after purchase or how long it can be wrapped and unsmoked without a humidator. 3) I'm told the more expensive the cigar the better. There were so many to chose from, cheap to affordable to pricy. When someone gives a gift, it should be well thought out... Because the thought that counts, is the effort that counts. I like giving gifts that matter, that are useful, and that had thought put into it. I went with the two most expensive cigars on shelf, the PADRON 1926 SERIE and the COHIBRA COMADOR. The comador is what JayZ smokes. After purchase they placed the cigars in a zip bag to try to keep it as fresh as possible. If you don't have a humidator it might be best to smoke them soon to avoid having them dry out and go bad. I did well in selecting my first cigars purchase in America!!! The one thing about Dean's I shop for; the rare find of Lava Mint cigars. I know the purest snub their noses at infused, however these cigars have been slowly infused with the delicious subtleties of gourmet mocha with select mints to develop a unique. A great price for $12.99. A zero carb delicious desert! Lost a star for the lack of knowledge and making go back to the walk-in humidor, because they never know the prices. read more

If you want to be absurdly overcharged for cigars, this is the spot. I understand the cost of living is more expensive in SF, but that does not constitute charging customers 2 times the price if their market value! I bought 3 cigars...and it equaled to 75 dollars! There is a massive cigar shop that I go to in mill valley, that carries the exact 3 cigars I bought...it would have been around $40 dollars at the most. I went here for convenience, but I will never return at those absurd prices. People don't like being scammed. You are now losing a customer...and I'm sure you will lose more. My suggestion is buy cigars online or elsewhere in San Francisco. read more

Sorry to those influenced by the previous review: If you're a cigar aficionado, this place leaves a lot to be desired. It's as if they've stocked their (questionable) humidor with those instruments most popular with their own inner circle, as opposed to doing any real research re: what interests true cigarists. Result: anemic selection (many of the rockstar-of-the-moment labels, poor menu options re: size and length). What made this all the worse was the piss-poor attitude of the asswipe behind the counter, who, upon my observation of the paucity of the humidor, proceeded to snap that "there's another cigar store down the block", and broadly indicate that I should ply my trade there. Yes, you putz, I'm aware. I shop there regularly. Against my better judgement, I purchased an (overpriced!) Cohiba from this ironically-named establishment...it'll most deliberately be my last. read more

I've never felt so overwhelmed to reply to someone's review before, Stuart. While I enjoy your view on the experience you've had, I find it highly aggressive and most probably unrealistic." The shop down the street" had to have been in reference to the sister company that they own down the block.. I cannot imagine the shop owner ever throwing business away (especially in reference to the 'inner circle' type of people they are), and that could only be to help you find a better inventory. The owner of the place (Dean, of course) has been nothing but a highly reputable source of information with any cigar I have ever bought. The knowledge of the staff and comfort of their prestige establishment has left a lasting impression on not only me, but any client that I have brought. (They've even shipped cigars to them throughout the world) I value others' opinion highly and admire you're fine taste (I explored out other reviews you have written), but challenge you to explore the option of this establishment once more. Unfortunately, what was one of the best places to get a wide range of premium cigars (not the crappy selection most SF smoke shops carry) at truly reasonable prices appears to have gone out of business due to the pandemic. For those who enjoy a good cigar it is a real loss. Thank you Dean for being the best and good luck in your future endeavors. read more

Not much of a selection and the prices were double than I can get back home (not surprised, necessarily, because it is SF and this place is centrally located on Market) but it was convenient to my hotel and it was open late'ish and it carried a couple brands that I liked. Will certainly go back IF I can't find a better cigar shop in the financial district. read more

So I know literally nothing about cigars except that my friend had a birthday coming up- and he likes cigars. The guy at Deans helped me without making me feel dumb. Nice humidor, but unfortunately no lounge to enjoy a cigar in. Pricing is quite high on some cigars that normally see better pricing, but all in all a very nice selection of good cigars. The gentleman working in here was very friendly and engaging. read more

I love this place. They have all the Wines that i like. The custmer service is great. All the workers are very nice people. They make you feel great when you walk in the store. Mellow liquor store with a walk in. Most of the staff don't generally know anything or have any training (the owner being the only exception). Good selection of Tatuaje and has some other decent cigars, including a range of Padron, Fuente, LFD. Nothing too exotic or cutting edge, but solid performers. You might want to let the humidity subside (dry box) before smoking, but that's common with B&Ms. If you want Tatuaje, Dean's is the only spot since Grant's pipe shop closed. They also stock ACC Don Cervantes, which you won't find hardly anywhere (and if you're okay dropping $30 for an old school en tubado stick). They're less 'refined' than the Humidor, up the street, who are a licensed Davidoff distributor, but also less annoying. If you want knowledgeable tobacco smokers and a nice selection, you'll have to cross over to the East Bay and hit up Piedmont. Dean's is a convenient location for out-of-towners, as it's right off Market near all the hotels and shopping. read more

Just got ripped off on a bottle of Rye. 15 bucks more expensive than across the street at Cask. Went to tell them and they said no returns and no discount. I will not be coming back. Girl at the front is nice but no knowledge of prices or selection. Don't go here. read more

Selection is not nearly as large as The Humidor, but they have much better prices, and they carry some great boutique brands - they have a surprising number of Tatuaje cigars, for example. No cigar stores in downtown San Francisco have great prices, but they are the fairest I have found. I always stop in here to buy a cigar before heading down the street to the Occidental Cigar Club! read more
