In the middle of a two-week vacation in Scotland, we had some laundry to do. Staying at Doubletree…read moreGlasgow Central, there was supposed to be laundry service; however, they did not note that there was no service on Sunday! This laundry is only a few minutes' walk away, open seven days/week, and for £24 (cash-only), she washed, dried, folded, AND delivered our laundry to the hotel (sealed in plastic)! It was a terrific time-saver to be able to leave the laundry and spend our final day in Glasgow doing fun stuff rather than sit and wait for a wash and dry. We had one load of laundry, all washed (our choice, cold water) and dried together (10 pairs of socks, ten underwear, six t-shirts, one cotton dress).
They were very nice and accommodating. You can either wash yourself or let them do it for you. It…read moreis the same price either way.

I popped, nay limped, in here to grab a pair of heel grips for a pair of boots. Quick as you like,…read moreI'd been given a pair and handed over my money while chatting away. Sneaky man that he was though, was trying to find out what my heel grips were for! Next thing I know, he's handing me back my money and getting me to take my boots off in the middle of the shop so he can have a look at what was bothering me. Nope, heel grips weren't the answer... He explained what was causing my discomfort (complete with drawing me a diagram) and suggested putting an insert in to see if that helped. He's given me something temporary so I've to try them out and see if they work and go back to him after a few days then he'll either work out something else for me or take out the temporary ones and fix them permanently into the boots. With my boots back on, I asked how much I owed him - not a thing! Absolutely amazing service. *skips off happily...*

This place is fantastic, phoned them and the man was very polite and helpful. Exchanged a few e-mails to finalise things, good clear communications. Much cheaper than anything else I was quoted today and our previous printing company. Overall - I'll definitely be back in the very near future to do business again.

They also do watch batteries, watch strap replacements, door name plates, and passport photos - no smiling now. They sell all manner of shoe items - polish, laces, scuff repair etc. I really don't know why I bother going to shoe shops to get those sort of things when Timpson's are likely to have the same thing much cheaper. I like the guys in this shop. There's 2 in particular who have worked here for donkey's, and you get a wee bit of friendly banter from them. Not as much as from the guy in the Byres Rd branch - he's amazing with the funny chat, but still friendly and pleasant. One of them even fixed a boot for me for free once - it was just a wee bit of glue, but I really appreciated it. I love that for a tiny wee shop you can fit a surprising number of people in it, and it's always busy. It just always reminds me of those old comedy sketches where you'd see how many folk could cram into a mini or a telephone box, and I have a wee laugh to myself while I'm waiting for my keys or shoes.

In terms of these requirements they have done some stuff in the past, that I will not discuss. Lets just say, I will not buy memory or processors from them. No bare chips. I would pick up graphics cards, hard drives, maybe even a motherboard. In this area they have been pretty useful. A last minute requirement will usually direct me here. Something I would usually get from a online supplier, I can often find a suitable substitute here. This is the bigger brother of its Argyle Street sibling. I usually find that they have more selection. Especially in the graphic cards arena. They are not an overclockers or modders paradise but they sometimes can surprise you with the stock that they do have. Finally, as I said about the other store - they usually have the best prices on optical media. Buy a spindle - save yourself a bundle.

We finally realised the washing machine wasn't going to fix itself, so Graeme phoned to see when they could come around. Same day - WIN! He was a little vague with the time he gave us on the phone and said after 3.30pm which translated to arriving at 5pm but that's no big deal really. It took him about 15 minutes to diagnose and fix, and cost only £25. It's hard to rave about a repair service but when it's simple, cheap and effective then it's a 5 star rating from me. We'd definitely call these guys out again if we needed something looked at.

DO NOT USE! I put…read moremy blush coloured dress in to have a new zip put on ahead of a wedding I was going to that weekend. I was told I could collect it the next day - Great! When I went in to collect my dress not only was the zip on my blush dress white but it was catching on the lining. The chap took the dress through the back I'm not sure what he done to the dress but there was the sound of an aerosol. I was told this was unacceptable condition to be given back to me and that I could come back and collect it once the zip had been refitted the next day. Concerned the WD40 had been sprayed on my dress I left the centre feeling very concerned over the state my dress would be returned to me. So the next day I went to collect my dress to find that the zipper was still white, that it wasn't concealed as it should be an that the white zip material was visible on the blush coloured dress, which instantly made the dress look cheap and nasty. and that the zip had not been sewn the whole way down, there was an open gap at the bottom of the zip. The zip had also been had stitched on the outside of the dress leaving ugly visible stiches. I then went to pay for the repair which so that I could get the dress back to be taken elsewhere to be surprisingly told that the cost of the repair had gone up from £9 to £15. If anything the price should have gone down for the state of the repair and for the inconvenience of it not being in a returnable state when I first went to collect it.
