We were looking for a local florist last minute and most florists are closed on Saturday by 5pm. Online it listed this shop closes at 6pm. We arrived at 5:45 only to find out the shop was in fact closed. We called the shop and someone answered the phone. I'm sorry I didn't get her name but she was so kind and gracious to open the door and help us. She put together a beautiful arrangement of flowers. Ok. So I waited last minute to order Flowers for my mother and my mother-in-law, hey it happens..1800Flowers and Edible Arrangements didn't have any orders that could go out today so I decided to try a local florist. A few came up and OF COURSE I had to pick the one deserving of 0 Stars. Anyway. I place 2 orders and I get a missed call about an hour later. I call back and say "Hi, did you call me this is [my full name] the woman replies in TRUE SNARKY NY fashion as if I called her personal house while she was luxuriating in a bath (maybe I did judging by the level of professionalism) and she says "no" followed by "wait" then about 3 other people pick up the phone and say "hello" or "what's your name" and I am trying to be understanding as this is their busy day..finally a man comes on the phone and again with true NY snark says "we can't handle these orders".. the inflection in his voice was like I some how inconvenienced him by placing an order.. he says "imma refund you your money" so again, I am not getting angry I am like "when will the refund be made" and he says "this evening when I have the time"... I mean ok .. again, I understand he is busy but a simple "this evening" would suffice by throwing in "when I have time" is POOR customer service. Small business owners take heed... this is why companies like FTD, 800Flowers, Edible Arrangements and the like put you out of business... just because you are running a flowershop in your shed (presumably) doesn't mean you can treat your customers like crap.. Being that I yelped them and saw they had a 1 star rating and STILL placed an order.. I can only blame myself... NEVER AGAIN. read more

Depalma is the best flower shop in Long Island. Raynor has made be beautiful plant flower baskets that I have hanging in my front living room window. They look real. She takes pride in her work and business. I had no idea how to make such an arrangement. I left it to Raynor's judgment and how beautiful was the outcome. She has such a beautiful floral shop. Unfortunately, my experience with the Depalma Florist Shop was similar to Rich G's. Aside from the prompt delivery, virtually every aspect of their service was inadequate. The arrangement was sparse and unadorned, the stems were improperly cut so that the flowers drooped, the vase they used was substandard, and worst of all, the flowers began to wilt within hours of delivery. Regrettably, I disregarded their negative reviews before I placed my order and chose to give them the benefit of the doubt. Please do not make the same mistake. read more

Recently, my fiance and I had an engagement party. We held the event at a nice restaurant overlooking the water. We (My fiance) decided we wanted a simple center piece that was not too extravagant but was substantial enough to add to each table. I am sure a description like this would drive any florists nuts. Not De Palma. They worked through our vagueness and delivered on 10 beautiful center pieces that most importantly left my fiance gleaming.
