I live in the north of Scotland but have been visiting Antwerp for about 5 days at a time at least once, but usually twice and sometimes three times a year. It has many joys - sometimes professional [although I am now long retired], always artistic, and always social. I have made enduring friendships with those who were my colleagues in international student exchanges and return to meet up with them even since we are retired now and in our 70's.
I always book accommodation close to De Kleine Opera - it is my personal and emotional centre in Antwerp. I find it such a joy. There is no fuss about anything but nothing is missed- the service is friendly laid back and warm. I remember it before Christine took over and it was fine enough but nothing special, She came and put her heart and soul into the place and it is simply refelected in an ambience that still draws me from Aberdeen area back to a wee bar just off the Roosveltplaats.
Stupid or what? -- I love it and will be back in November. Colin read more
