If you choose to eat inside, the reduced lighting gives it style and personal feeling. While never too busy it also has enough customers to indicate it is worth visiting. The noise levels are quiet enough to easily have a conversation without trying to shout over other people. There should never be any need to book in advance. The staff are very friendly and accommodating but it is important to realise that for most of the waitresses, English is not their native language. You should keep your order simple and clear to prevent mistakes. The food can simply be summed up as excellent. They have always been very quick in bringing out soups and starters so it is worthwhile ordering those. You can expect some variation in how long it takes to get your main meal depending on how busy they are as well as how long it takes to prepare the food. Their miso soup is decent and they have a fantastic karage. Their sushi, sashami and bento boxes are of very high quality and they take a lot of extra effort in making sure it is presented beautifully. I am a big fan of their chicken teriyaki bento box as it has variety as well as tasting great. They are fully licensed and even have Japanese beers on tap. I can't comment too much on the alcohol situation as I generally don't drink alcohol at Japanese restaurants but the other people I go with say it is acceptable. The price they charge for all of this is incredible. You will be surprised when you see how low the bill is. I would consider this place exceptional value and doubt there are many other places in the Chatswood area that have food and service this good with such low prices. I would consider Izakaya Arigato a hidden gem. Absolutely worth checking out if you are in the area and have a craving for a decent Japanese meal.

From Sushi to Ramen, Bento to Donburri; across the board the food is great and price is just as good! My favourites are the grilled salmon nigiri and the katsu don! The little engine that could!…read more And this place is little. Constructed on the far left hand corner at the bottom of the escalators at Chatswood Interchange, it's difficult to miss as you can see the steam rising from Barista magic at work. It's busy, in a worker bee sense. People come and go clutching coffee, whilst 3 artisans work their craft. I rolled in here with my two elderly companions on Wednesday post lunch, and we were drawn to the little padded seats at the back, which also opens through to the other side. Ordering, then taking a seat, our talking point became the shelves in front of us with coffee and train paraphernalia. I grabbed the HONY book on display and attempted to explain the concept to the ex-journalist at my right. The book (from 2010) unfortunately contains only the images and captions, not the stories that we have all seen on Facebook, but I think she got what I meant. Soon after, the coffees arrived. Soy Latte. Flat White. Cappuccino. Our cappuccino drinker said the flavour was lovely but she wanted it "hotter". The flat white drinker remarked in earnest tones that it was wonderful. I just drank mine and smiled. Yes it was damn good. One of the best Soy Latte's I've had. No bitterness. A smooth, flavourful brew with some complexity to delight my tastebuds. Isn't "winning your loyalty" an interesting concept. When I stroll through Chatswood next I would find myself hard pressed to try another coffee place, and there are many... If I did try another coffee place, I'd feel like I was cheating on TSE. That's what winning your loyalty is all about.

Chimi churi cafè in Chatswood is the most instagrammable cafès we have come across. The owners,…read morepreviously of Local Embassy in Pyrmont have brought their game to the north. The cafè is hidden in the back streets but despite this, the cafe is very popular, which shows their food is bringing in a crowd. The cafe has a cool set up, with a number of indoor and outdoor tables, there are also a couple of communal tables. As you walk in there is a large mural painted on the wall of an interesting character, with a tweaked moustache which is a reflection of the interesting and quirky menu on offer. Then, a range of visually appealing plates started to arrive at the table for us to photograph and share. The signature being the black benedict which is a soft shell crab burger with squid ink hollandaise. The bun, a black brioche which gets its colour from charcoal. This dish is not only visually appealing, but also very tasty and unlike any burger we have tried before. For bacon lovers the 'lick my bacon' is right up your alley. A thick cut bacon steak, cue Homer Simpson drooling mmmmm bacon. This served on a freshly baked red striped croissant with a has brown and haloumi and a side 100% Canadian Maple Syrup. Need I say more? Other notable breakfast options were the Chimi Churi eggs. Poached eggs, labneh, chilli oil, Chimichuri dukkah sauce and freshly baked artisan bread. Keep an eye out for the Cola Bowl which will be a new addition to the menu. A tasty yogurt bowl served with toasted granola, fruit and for a bit of a twist a cola syrup drizzled on top. The lunch menu may not be as grammable, but tasty and had some healthy options available. The stuffed calamari with a bit of South American flair. This dish with a nice flavour combination of chicken mince, chorizo, chimichuri salsa with a tasty parsnip and beetroot cream. The seared tuna, another healthy option served with a pineapple salsa and nicely plated too. The lunch menu is not at all healthy, with Chimi Churi doing a decent mac and cheese with triple cheese pork and bacon. The fried chicken bites were also very more-ish and the seasoned chips that came with the chicken, unbelievably tasty. They also have some great options for those with a sweet tooth. The nutella french toast, nice and fluffy with fairy floss a mini jar of nutella and served with some fresh fruit. The pannacotta another beautifully plated dish, very photogenic. A nice sweet finish a textural dish with the smoothness of the pannacotta, the macadamia crumb, a airy sponge, sauced with the berry coulis. As mentioned one of the most grammable cafes we have been to. The owners are perfectionists and the menu is well balanced with something for everyone. The food is not only very photogenic, the food is also tasty. Worth travelling to Chatswood to try some cool dishes and to get some great shots for your instagram feed.

However, ignoring that, this cafe is awesome. Firstly, the coffee here is good. Not the best cafe you'll get but good enough to get a second cup. Which I did. It is a little bit lighter, so if you like a darker brew, might want to order a double shot - just a warning. The finest thing about this cafe is the food. Now, it is slightly on the 'smaller' portion side. But it is quite good. Everything we order was extremely tasty. And the staff here are extremely helpful and friendly.

Great Malaysian food in Chatswood food court? I hardly believe it myself. I would highly recommend…read moretrying this place if you are walking around Chatswood and not sure of where you would like to go. The menu has a good range of options. We opted for the following three items and enjoyed them all; 1. Penang Char Kuey Teow ($12) - classic stir fried noodle dish was very tasty. Probably 8/10 of all the variants of this dish I've tried. You would be hard pressed to find better noodles in the food court area. The spoon of Sambal on the side gives you the option of kicking up the heat. 2. Chicken Laksa ($11) - I'm a laksa snob and I've got some pretty high standards when it comes to Laksa. I can say that I was happily surprised by the great quality (9/10). I am often worried about ordering laksa from new places and doubly so in food courts. More often than not you get some bland, coconut milk slurry that disappoints. Sedap's is actually probably one of the best I've had. I appreciated the spoon of Sambal on top and the two types of noodles. 3. Kopi Tarik (ice coffee) ($2.50) - served either hot or cold this drink is poured at a height (pulled) into a decent sizes cup. The thing I should point out is that the cup size was very generous. I've eaten at other Malaysian restaurants (cough, mamak) where you finish your drink in a few minutes. This was a proper drink that was just the right amount for how spicy the food was. I'm going to comment on two items I've read about this location (from both Yelp and Urbanspoon reviewers); - they have card/EFTPOS facilities, my server pay passed my card without issue. - it's a food court setting, so don't bitch and moan about the ambiance or problems with seating. Wake up to the fact that you are in a Westfield shopping centre. Sedap means delicious in Malay and Indonesian and I can say its a clever and truthful name. I'll be going back!

Cash only as far as I can tell but its not a big deal here because its very affordable. - AUTHENTICITY/TASTE: Assam Laksa was really good (on par with Petaling Street in Haymarket). - SERVICE: Yes, if you are "dining in" they do bring the food out to you assuming you are close by. I didn't expect that but its great when you are holding on to spots in the food court. I'd most likely come back if I'm over the other side of the bridge. Another fun fact: "Sedap" means delicious in Malay. This place lives up to its name for sure.
