I spent the night in this slightly run down old hotel, and the chef checked me in. We first had a…read morelovely talk, and after unpacking and working in my room for awhile, I came down for a glass of wine and dinner. First, the bartender was under the weather but an amazing and great guy. I was literally the only guest in the house, and it was wonderful.
The menu is limited but incredible. The 4 course meal started with a salmon appetizer that was frankly spectacular. The 2nd course was scallops that were so salivating I had to FaceTime my wife at work to rave (she loves scallops). The 3rd course was cod on a wild mushroom / couscous / sauce base accompanied by Belgian endives and apple salad...and another vegetable that I honestly cannot remember!
Incredible, amazing, wonderful perfection. The head chef stopped by on her way out and I offered to do the dishes...then the assistant chef stopped by on his way out...two chefs and a bartender all for me...I drank 5 glasses of a remarkable French Bordeaux sauvignon blanc for good measure.
I never made it to the 4th course. This place is simply phenomenal.
