I had no experience doing an escape room; my friend did, and we both loved the Shiner Beer room--the mystery kept going and going, with lots of puzzles and clues. We had to collaborate! The room was great, the mysteries and clues excellent--and the room worked in fun local culture. We hope to go again and try the other rooms. It was just two of us on the moderate/beginner difficulty and it was a lot of fun. The proprietors are wonderful Texas locals who were a delight to chat with and guided us thru the experience and made sure we had a great time. There were kids everywhere. The place was overstimulating to say the least. The staff were really great overall and helpful. Will I return? Highly doubt it.

This place ideally works best in groups of 5, but we saw many combinations of families, friends, date nights, etc. We simply reserved online, checked in at the desk, put our stuff in a locker, scanned our wristbands, then went crazy trying all of the different game options. There is a variety of teamwork based games, competitive individual games, strategy, physical, speed, and mind games available. My personal favorites were mega grid, sequence, asteroids, and basketball. I won't give them all away though because that's part of the fun is seeing what all Activate has to offer. Overall, Activate is guaranteed to be a good time. My friend group can get competitive so we got into it for sure. My only small complaint here is that when this place gets busy, you'll have to wait for a room to open up. Come during off peak times and it's literally endless fun, enjoy!

Monster Mini Golf We…read morebought our tickets to play mini golf on Groupon, and we showed up around 3:30 on Saturday. The two teenagers working the desk told us there would be a 40‑minute wait. That would've been fine--except the 40 minutes turned into a full hour. We ended up stuck behind a large 6‑year‑old's birthday party, even though the course itself only had about four people actually playing. Instead of letting us play through or staggering groups, they just had us stand around waiting with no explanation. When we started to play golf, they handed us gaming cards for the arcade, which was very confusing why didn't they give it to us in the beginning so we had something to do, but we didn't come for the arcade, and we weren't doing anything--they just didn't manage the flow well at all. A few positives: the bathrooms were clean, and the place itself is visually fun. But be aware there's no real food available--just tiny bags of chips--and no alcohol. The only drinks for sale are canned sodas. Overall, the experience felt disorganized and not worth the hassle. If you're planning to go on a weekend, especially with a Groupon, I'd say it's not worth the discounts.
