We came here on a rainy Friday and there was a line of about 10 people out the door. We ended up going inside and grabbing a table as we were a group of 4 and there were seats available. We ordered a few Bossche Bols for the group and coffees. If you ever have the opportunity to come here, please do. This bakery is known for the Bossche Bol, right by the train station, on the main street as you exit toward the city. Pro tip, if there's a line outside and you have some time, check the dining area to see if there are tables! Bossche Bols are best when they're fresh!

The Bossche bol from this establishment in particular was highly recommended by our tour guide, and it did not disappoint. The whipped cream was both thick and airy (a really magical combination if you ask me), with the perfect amount of sweetness. I thought to myself: So this is what a proper Bossche bol should taste like! My only gripe was that the layer of chocolate on the outside was way too sweet. It's supposed to be dark chocolate, yet I don't know how it's so sweet. The mint tea here was also too strong for me, and the cup was quite small. If they only used a bigger cup and added a little more hot water, it would have been perfect. The service was stellar though. My boyfriend and I shared a single Bossche bol (it's huge!), and they even brought out an extra plate and set of silverware without us asking for it. Pro tip: If you grab a Bossche bol to go, it's only €3 instead of €3,60. I personally think the sit down experience is worth the extra 60 cents (especially if you can grab a table upstairs with a nice view).

A tightly packed space, all four walls filled with delicacies ranging from handmade Chocolates and Cakes to packaged Confections, staff takes an old-time approach to hospitality by greeting each guest with warm smiles before boxing each item carefully. Far more than Pancakes and Syrup Waffles, a Baba in thick Syrup as sweet as it is boozy, fans of Canele will find Holtkamp nearly as good as those in Bordeaux with a generous crunch giving way to mellow Cake with the texture of Custard. Also offering Macarons and Feuilletine, tempting but not enough to replace three Chocolates including one with Honeycomb, Dutch Tompoucen comes highly recommended thanks to all the elements of a Napoleon but more Pastry Cream.

It's a very small shop on a very busy street so it would be easy enough to miss. That would be a mistake. You'll want to ask for the Eberhardjes cookies. If there's such a thing as an official cookie of Amsterdam, these are the ones. Named for the late mayor, they're delicious and perfect to bring home because of the "XXX" baked into them, the symbol of the city. The label on the cookies translates to "Take good care of our city and each other." Sweet. [Review 12091 overall, 1874 of 2019.]
