Maybe they got a new menu and a new cook because I have had nothing but good experiences with both food and beverages here! I've had the Jäger schnitzle most recently which is a popular German dish of fried pork cutlet with a brown mushroom and onion gravy. The onions were super sweet - almost too sweet, but that didn't make me not like the dish. To drink I discovered they had Delirium Red on tap! On tap! That is one of my favorite beers and as an American in the US it's hard to find and when you do it's super expensive! So I was stoked to get that here on tap, one after the other. My husband ordered the chicken wings, and he did wish they were crispier and had more flavors to choose. He loves wings so because of the lack of crisp and flavor he won't be ordering those again. He also had the "Pizza" schnitzle which is another fried pork cutlet with a bunch of toppings and then covered in cheese. It was delicious! This is a beer place so I can't complain about having limited tequila options, but I do wish it had more than Jose Cuervo Gold (Public Service Announcement to De Belgium Bistro: most expats hate Cuervo). The staff is friendly and accommodating and one thing for Americans to remember is that in EU if you want service you have to ask for it - don't be offended just take control of your own experience. Think small bar with big food. Cozy atmosphere and can't wait to go back. Huge beer selection with great atmosphere. Burger was spicy with the sauce on it, spaghetti was also a little spicy for my daughter however the other pasta was kinda of blame... The way she likes it. read more

This place is quite impressive. It is nice looking from the street. When you walk in, you see the decor, which is very welcoming. The menu is not huge(which is a plus in my opinion). A lot of people come here after work and hangout. The place is small and gets packed quickly for dinner. I would advise reservations if you want to secure a table. They offer over 200 different kinds of beer and the menu selection is huge. I wanted to try a cheese burger and it was massive! It was a little too saucy for me and I only ate half of it. I am a little confused why this place has such high reviews. We went here over the weekend on the recommendation of a friend's. I was excited for some Belgian food and a Belgian beer, but only received one of those things. The menu wasn't posted on Yelp or on the website, so I had no way of knowing that there would be no authentic Belgian food. I'll clarify my review. Beer: Five stars! If I hadn't eaten here, I would have walked away perfectly happy with the beer selection, and even the prices for the beer. We had two Karmeliet Tripels on draft and they were so much more delicious than any you can get in the states. We also received some tart Schnapps on the house at the end of our meal. Food: The menu consists of mainly hamburgers and a couple other random-seeming dishes. We split the special burger. The bread was already soggy when we relieved it. It had a gray fried egg, some gray bacon, lettuce, cucumbers, 2 slices of plastic cheese, and a very overly-cooked patty. At least it was beef! The fries were just OK- nothing like pommes frite in Belgium. My husband also ordered some soup and it was inedible-straight out of the can and only lukewarm. Another interesting thing for me is that we were greeted in English and there were absolutely no Germans in the restaurant. The place obviously caters to Americans. When this place opened a couple of years ago it was awesome! It has slowly gone hill since then. The only reason that this place gets good reviews is because it has a large selection of beers and a lot of americans go there for this reason. The last time we went there a couple of weeks ago, the food was awful, the staff was not friendly at all and it was one of the worst dining experiences ever! My wife and i ordered a couple of beers and selected a shrimp appetizer while we waited for our dinner to arrive. The shrimp came in a large pepper drenched in some kind of salad dressing. When we tried the shrimp, it had a fishy "not fish taste" to it. When we talked to the waiter about it tasting funny, he acted like it was our fault. His reply was that no-one else complained about the dish. Told them that it tasted bad and that we did not want to get sick. He told us that "they don't normally take things off the bill, but they would this time." We waited a very long time for our meals and even longer for a second beer. After we ate our meal and got the check, the shrimp was still on the bill. I reminded the waiter that he agreed earlier to take it off the bill. Again with a snotty attitude, he said "ok this time we will take it off the bill." Are you kidding me? Unfortunately we will never go there again! Beer or no beer.......................there are plenty places to go. The only reason why they are still in business is because of the beer selection that attracts US service members. The food and beer is way to over priced for the local germans and was ok to overlook for a while. Not only no but hell no! Never again. It's all about the beer! This is a bar with bar food. Their special burger is eclectic. A quality beef patty with ham, eggs, cheese, tomatoes, cucumber, and some interesting sauce. They should toast the bun, but that's my only complaint. If you get this burger, just eat it with a fork and knife. It's unmanageable by hand. Lots of Belgian beer on the menu. Over 200 beers available. The food was great. We went on a Monday night and enjoyed all you can eat chicken wings. They are not buffalo wings like I expected but they were great tasting wings. Two stars are really only for the great beer and decent service. The food was DISGUSTING! one watery soup and another bland tasting soup. Husband's chicken wings were bland and he reached for salt which he never usually does. My veggie burger was served in a cold hard bun. The "veggie" burger was just a block of cheese. The burger was sloppy and not in a good way. bits of loose corn and kidney beans feel from the burger along with random sauces. With a weird salad with more corn and kidney beans. The wait wasn't worth it. the great reviews have to be due to the beer. Servers were very knowledgeable about the beer. And the female waitress was very apologetic about the soup and overall, kind. Really good food, I was bragging to family in town how we've never had a negative experience here. Until tonight. Food was good always, service was good, atmosphere was good. Until we left. I had gotten up to use the restroom and left my purse at the table with my family. They had paid as I was gone and when I came back everyone was up preparing to leave and the server was standing there chatting with my family. We had left. Walked across the street and came back and as we got to the car our server was standing off near the restaurant yelling at us asking if we took a glass. Then once we all replied no. No one had a glass she very replied in a VERY snippy rude tone "I guess I'll just pay for it out of my tips!!" I would've gladly emptied my purse because all that would've been found is a bunch of receipts, some general garbage because what woman doesn't have that, a protein bar a bunch of lipsticks, a wallet and some pens. Having been a server myself I know how bad it sucks to pay for something out of pocket. But also having been a server i wouldn't have just stolen a glass, I also have never followed someone confronting them about something such as a missing glass. This kind of thing makes me not want to return, let alone have someone that will be this rude as my server, what's next I'm followed about a missing plate that was picked up and not remembered? read more
