She took time to show me where my tooth was cracked and explained that even with a root canal, due to the crack it will always be a problem and get infected. Although I hate the thought of losing my tooth, I so appreciate the truth. Dr. Tessaro is not only awesome, she's honest! She put the person before the dollar!!! (When does that ever happen?) I switched to this practice due to a change in my insurance coverage, having recently had a dental exam and X-rays just six months prior. These images were provided to UHD. At my initial visit, before even receiving an exam, I was told I would need 18 bitewing X-rays to create a full-mouth panorama. As a medical physician, I questioned the necessity of this, especially given that recent X-rays were already available. When I asked whether I could opt for the standard molar bitewings instead, the hygienist became visibly frustrated. It seemed clear he was accustomed to patients questioning this practice and annoyed by it. An associate dentist then came in to explain that the full set of X-rays was necessary so she could assess my bone structure and check for oral cancer. I explained that I am a physician and that this is not the standard method for oral cancer screening. She then claimed that this was the "standard of care." When I asked her to show me the ADA guidelines to support this, she brought back a chart that applied to patients with periodontal disease or dentofacial abnormalities--neither of which apply to me. After reviewing the actual ADA guidelines myself (see screenshot from this article: https://jada.ada.org/article/S0002-8177(23)00734-1/fulltext), it's clear that requiring 18 X-rays in this context is not evidence-based. I shared this with her, and she then suggested we "dissolve the relationship" and that I seek dental care elsewhere. If you are looking for evidence-based care, compassionate professionals, and a practice that respects patient autonomy while avoiding unnecessary costs, I strongly recommend seeking care elsewhere.

PLEASE READ IN ENTIRETY!!! I almost never leave reviews but…read moreI have to speak up for myself with hopes that what happened to me does not happen to anyone else. No one deserves to be treated like I did. No patient should ever be lied to or called a liar. I called in to Dentkos to verify that my insurance was accepted and I was told yes. I needed two root canals so I scheduled my appt and came in on 6/24/25. I was in excruciating pain. I asked if my procedures were 100% covered by my insurance and I was told with complete certainty, yes. So, I signed all of the paperwork and Dr. Dentkos began my first root canal. For unclear reasons, he didn't complete the root canal and I was scheduled to come back in on 7/7/25 to have it finished and to start on the second one. I came back in on that date and Michelle, the office manager at the front desk, told me someone in their office made a mistake and they found out that they were not in network with my insurance. Of course I was taken aback and completely confused. I told her that my root canal was not even finished so what would happen regarding it's completion. She said "Don't worry we are going to complete it, we have to. But we won't be able to do your second one. You'll have to go somewhere else that accepts your insurance for that one". I was a bit upset due to me having to find a different entodontist, but I was also content with finally getting my first root canal finished. So, I got the first root canal finished that day. On 7/18/25, I receive a bill for a total of $1,219 that stated I was responsible for. I figured it was just a mistake or an automatic correspondence that was sent out. But I wanted to make sure. So, I called Dentkos and Michelle answered the phone. I explained to her that I got the bill and automatically she became defensive and extremely rude to me. She told me that she doesn't know who told me that they accepted my insurance and that "Dr. Dentkos doesn't work for free". I explained "It's not my fault that YOU gave me incorrect information and I remember exactly who I spoke with and it was you Michelle". She basically called me a liar and said no one ever told me that. After briefly going back and forth and me trying to explain why this is so unfair and how I shouldn't be held financially responsible, she blatantly stated "Well you signed paperwork that said whatever your insurance doesn't cover, you'd be responsible for. So, you'll just have to pay the bill". Needless to say, I've contacted my insurance company and filed a grievance and an appeal. I am also going to file complaints with whatever departments necessary to get some answers and a resolution. There was never an apology or accountability. Just blaming the patient and accusing me of being untruthful. I WILL NEVER SUGGEST ANYONE TO GO TO THIS ENTODONTIST. Please save yourself the headache and find an honest and professional endodontist office who genuinely cares about their patients.
