Here is what set Lee's apart from other paint contractors we have used: 1. They were meticulous, methodical, and thorough in performing each step in their process. 2. The effort they invested up-front in prep surpassed that of every previous contractor we have worked with, and it paid out in a perfect end-result. Before painting, they securely shielded our brick patio, walkways, plants and patio furniture, tied back shrubs and tree branches. They power-washed the wood and stucco, filled all cracks and holes, masked non-painted surfaces, and sanded and primed where needed. 3. They completely and consistently covered every surface with two coats of the premium quality paint that we chose. 4. Although their crew superintendent, Tino, was highly skilled and wonderful to work with, Lee's Painting also sent their project manager and customer service rep to the job site several times to monitor quality and progress and make sure that we were satisfied with the work. 5. They started and completed the job on time and on budget.

I later hired a professional deep cleaner who confirmed that the paint was everywhere and said she could not get it off. When I asked the painter to return and clean up what his crew had left behind, he refused, blamed the problem on the condo being dirty before they arrived, and handed me a razor blade so I could scrape it off myself and quickly left--not even an apology. The crew initially had my permission to use the air conditioner. However, once my HOA notified me that it was leaking into my downstairs neighbor's unit, she asked the crew to turn it off. They reportedly refused to listen to her and would not help her contact me, potentially allowing further water damage to occur. Mistakes can happen, but the lack of cleanup and accountability afterward was unacceptable. I was left with the distinct impression that because my condo was only 830 square feet--and therefore not one of their larger, more profitable jobs--my concerns were not worth their time once they had been paid. After spending $5,300, I should not have been left hiring another professional to clean up their paint or scraping my own floors and countertops with a razor blade. I would not hire this company again.

The quality, as promised, was lacking where the high gloss paint was used, and not done to our satisfaction. Yes, there was a problem, but there was also a happy ending! Based on past experiences with other companies, we figured they would push back against our complaints, and move on without rectifying the situation. Luckily, that was not the case. One of the most important qualities in any company's owners, is integrity. The owner here stood behind his work, and had a very experienced painter come back to completely redo the high gloss areas that were done incorrectly. It looks beautiful now! He also explained that since this job, they have taken steps to change some of their practices to improve in the future. Every company should take advantage of learning experiences, take accountability for mistakes, and put the customer first. Stubbins Painting is one of those companies. This sort of real integrity is rare, and is what makes me comfortable in recommending them!

When his team was "complete" I could tell they did not do the job I expected. I asked them to come back out and place one more coat on....which they did but didn't make much difference. I have since refinished myself after spending over $2k for their crappy work. It looks great now.....after a real complete strip and 4 coats of the finish I originally asked for.
