No idea what the rules are, but a bunch of feisty women skating is reason enough to come out and cheer. You go grrrls!

Making friends in the DC area isn't easy - I'll admit it, I've been here for more than 20 years and…read moreit sometimes seems like a revolving door of folks who mostly keep to themselves. Playing softball with DC Fray has been tremendously valuable as a source of both social interaction and team sports that are the right balance between fun and competitive. The dedication and thoughtfulness of Cameron, Quinn, and Jacob have - in particular - turned me from a "Virginia-only / once a week" player into someone who will play anywhere, anytime. I'm very pleased with DC Fray and look forward to another fun year.

I signed up for the tennis league, which DC Fray said would have less than 30 players and use 5-6…read morecourts. Unfortunately, that just wasn't true. I went twice and found around 50 players squeezed onto just four courts. I stayed a total of 5-10 minutes because what I found both times was a scene that was overcrowded, chaotic, and unenjoyable. The drills in particular were a problem. On the two courts that ran drills, there were more than 20 players at a time. With so many people, you most of the time was spent waiting in line. This isn't what I signed up for, and it was incredibly frustrating to realize that the league organizers either oversold the program or didn't plan properly for the number of participants. Worse than being unfun, though, the setup felt genuinely unsafe. Within the first five minutes of my first visit, I accidentally hit someone with a forehand because the instructor had people retrieving balls on the opposite side of the net while others were still hitting. That was literally the second ball I hit, and I left after that. Given court space and safety space issues, I unfortunately can't recommend this program in its current state.

They also sponsor a lot of social activities. It's a great way to meet new people while getting some fresh air. I have played in all the kickball leagues in DC and this is by far the best. The cost is reasonable and I get more for my money. Additionally, NAKID is supportive of the local community. I am a filmmaker working on a feature film "Arrange to Settle" http://arrangetosettle.com. NAKID sponsored my film by providing t-shirts, extras, and bought us beer for the flip cup scene. It's good to see an organization that supports the local arts.

First, it's an ADULT KICKBALL league that focuses more on the social aspects than the actual sport. Sure, most of the players are in their mid to late 20's but there are older players as well (like me). I am in the military as well and Dan has been nothing but wonderful when it came to dealing with military issues. Hell, he donated kickball gear that we are sending downrange for the troops to play to have a little fun. How awesome is that?!? You can't go wrong with this group. It is a ton of fun and the people are all great. The parties are a blast and it's a really fun way to meet new people in a neutral environment. I have yet to meet someone I did not like. Give it a try...after all, you're never lonely when you're NAKID! ;-)

STILL THE BEST SOCIAL DECISION I MADE SINCE MOVING TO DC. Really is 50% kickball and 50% happy hour...very few people from DC, so this is an excellent way to meet some new life long friends. I love looking up at the Washington Monument on a Thursday evening as the sun is going down from first base thinking "I wonder what all my friends are doing back home right now?" Whether you already have a team of players, a group of 3-9 friends you want to play with, or just joining by yourself, their awesome staff will take care of you and get you all set up during registration. There are a couple other leagues in DC (think some of them are even more expensive), and I have more people coming from those leagues because they really werent very "fun",

I'm going to go ahead and say it, there were dudes on other teams that just made it so unpleasant to be on field. I think we get into this hoping it will not be like our kickball experiences in middle school, and usually during every game, there was a moment where I felt like "really? I thought we were adults." DC Kickball, unlike some other city teams, does not hire refs, which I think is fine. Refs are volunteers from teams that are not playing. What upset me the most was that dudes from some of the teams argued every call, not letting it go, ganging up on the volunteer refs. I certainly won't be playing next season.
