This is a really sad mall. There are probably only 4/5 decent stores left inside. The mall is usual pretty dead. It looks clean, but run down. I don't really come here to shop anymore as we are not too far from The Greene, Liberty Township, or a bunch of the shopping plazas in Mason. Well it's winter and I don't like walking in the cold but wanted to get a few steps in. Safe warm place to walk in the winter. Sad how deserted it is and smelled of pot. The shoe repair shop is still there and has been open forever but never see customers. On a weekend this place used to be busy with shoppers and popular place to meet up. Saw as many mall walkers as shoppers. Most shops had no one but a an employee. How do they stay open. Speaking of that alot of places have moved out and been replaced by something ridiculous like ball cap store or cats. Most all the stores I used to go to are gone. Jcpenny and Macy's are still there but very few shopping. In Penny's only saw 1 employee in the whole place and they were at the downstairs register. Only 1 open in 3 levels. How are people not robbing them blind. At Macy's they had a few ladies covering the perfume area but no customers. Sadly everything is going to online shopping and that makes buying fragrance a gamble. But from what we saw I'd say the mall is at risk of closing. read more

Typical mall these days- not a lot of stores open. I will say that those stores that ARE open are quite nice and it's not a bad place to walk around and look at things. I came here for food and the food court has a few places- Chinese, Japanese, steak hoagies, and a pizza place. They also have a cookie store, Cinnabon and a really interesting Turkish coffee shop which was delicious. read more

Really nice spot! Large open, 2 floors. Food/Drink: Food court and plenty of snack places. Dinning Area: Large. Prices: Relatively inexpensive, minus the big ticket items. Parking: Plenty of space, side and back outside lots. Bathrooms: Bathrooms were clean and decent in size. Stock: Plenty of items, all stocked well. Clearly priced, and placed in correct areas. Atmosphere: During the summer, pretty slow. I did not wait long at the cashier, but it was a holiday. Staff/Attendants: Staff was Great, Lady at the front cashier was nice, and respectful. This used to be a vibrant mall alive with people everywhere. Not so much today. My SO was in Macys so I wondered the mall. Here's my impressions: There is no place to just relax. Sure there's some chairs but I'm talking about a place to grab a brew or possibly a cigar, to watch a game or even a show. Maybe grab an appetizer... Why would a guy come here? OK, there is a Dicks here but I don't need anything from them right now. And that's it for the guys. It's about 2/3 full. Lots of empty spaces. Suggestion- put in a pub! We like having the Dayton Mall so close, but we wish there were more stores in there. Most of the stores are well kept but most are understaffed so expect to have to wait for a while. I stood at the checkout counter at JCPenny for 10 minutes before walking to another counter only to be told by that lady that she was going on break and I needed to walk all the way across the store to where I was originally. The parking is good, but make sure to lock your car doors as there are always breakins happening there. read more

It seems that the mall at one point might have been up and vibrant. It is very nice looking inside. Has a decent amount of good stores. We went on a Saturday afternoon and it was like a vacant city. There was absolutely no foot traffic. There was about one place open in the food court. When you walked into a store not a single employee welcomed you in or awknowledged you. Wow, how depressing!! I know that a lot of malls in the region are "dying," but Dayton's one time "hot spot" is definitely nearing DNR stage. Went over there on a Saturday late afternoon/early evening, just a week or two before Christmas, and half of the stores that were still there were already CLOSED by 6 or 7pm!! Sad... I'm sure it's a combination of changing shopping habits/Covid, but WOW!! Semi empty (we even got a really PRIMO parking space right by the entrance... Unheard of during X-mas season!!) and just generally had a run down/past its prime feel to it. Restrooms were a mess, half the stores that WERE still there were already closed for the evening, and it just felt SAD... I was torn between wanting to get out of there and wanting to help out the relatively few remaining "die hards" that are still attempting to make a go of it here... I've never been a huge "mall rat," but it's sad to see what was once a thriving regional shopping area (semi) slowly fade into oblivion!! read more

Dayton Mall is pretty okay. In this area of the city there's not another mall. They have most of the popular national stores. It also has a food court. The prices here aren't terrible. Even though it's not the shiniest mall, this is still good for finding some gifts. It has many of the usual stores you find in a mall. The anchors include Elder-Beerman, Macy's, and Sears. A lot of other popular stores are here. You can find Hollister, Hot Topic, and others. It has some good stores, but the best thing might be the food court. They have a Chinese eatery, Pita Grill, Subway, cookies, and pizza. It wasn't that dangerous the last time here. Sure there may be a few weird people. There seemed to be good security. read more

I mostly visit here if the weather is bad and I need a place for my little boy to run off some energy. They've got a little play area near Macy's on the first floor. There are also the the little cars that you can ride for a few quarters, gumball machines and vending. This mall actually has some decent stores. The service at the Dayton Mall Footlocker is disrespectful. I am writing this on November 30 2023. It was around 5:30pm and I went to Footlocker to look for some new shoes. While I am trying on some shoes the employees went to the back a couple of times to get the right color of the shoe I wanted and size. Later my mom was like "ok we will take this shoe", one of the employees mocked her on saying that to another employee. Mind you my mom has an accent while she speaks. I find that disrespectful and unprofessional. It was this one girl that looked around 20 with black hair. She was a African American woman. The Dayton Mall is in my opinion the best more in Ohio. The inside is nicely designed in the mall has improved a lot since I was a kid in the 2000s. They have all the stores that I shop at and it is a quick and convenient mall. Sure it might not be the safest mall sometimes, but it is pretty safe most days and The staff here are friendly and they'll help you if you need it. Went to JCPenney salon to get my hair bleached while a friend went to get their hair dyed grey. Absolutely trashed our hair. My hair was orange and fried. My friends was yellow with splotches of grey. I was very nice about the whole thing but the stylist decided to walk away mid doing my hair and have a mental break down because she was tired. Worst experience getting my hair done, ever. Was there for 6 hours for HIGHLIGHTS. Didn't get refunded. Was told to come back so the same girl could fix it. Couldn't have someone else do it. It is showing some age. Needs a little botox and a good facial. The mall was once a crown jewel is caught between Amazon and changing taste. Posted not to shock but as a cry for help the restrooms are not so kind, neglected in too many ways. The unisex sign says women. Kind of confusion in an area of life where some think that sooo describes me. Worse is the door to the hall won't close. It's like hanging open all the time. The womans room is closed. Has the yellow crime scene tape blocking it. Don't ask. The men's where I went ever so reluctantly, well look at my profile pic and you will understand. It is ever so dull and dusty, grimy even. Two of the hand soap containers are busted, the lighting is dull, the grout is forever brown, the tiles look like they have had better days. Some one needs to go to Lowes and start a redo project. Nasty restrooms are so unattractive. This is a cry for help. Oh don't say contact the health department. I remember the days when it was fun to come to the mall. They do what they can to keep it nice by having the policy that at certain times anyone under 16 must be accompanied by an adult, but unfortunately it's the adults that are the problem. I was there yesterday and every other person smelled like weed and I got to see two groups of guys shouting curse words, ripping off their shirts and squaring up. Lovely. Grow up. I'm concerned that it's going to get worse now that several of the anchor stores are going under :-( read more

When I was growing up in Centerville, Ohio this was THE mall. I mean THE coolest place to hang circa 2003. This mall has 4 anchor stores; JC Penny's, Macys, Sears & Elder Beerman. There are some other fun stores peppered in the mall like Forever 21, Hot Topic, Claires, Hollister, Abercrombie & Fitch, Yankee Candle, etc. However, this mall pales in comparison to the Mall at Fairfield Commons (North) or the Kenwood Mall. While the area around the Dayton Mall offers many restaurants and retail stores, the mall itself seems a bit rundown. With the addition of the Dicks Sporting Goods and Saxby's Coffee, it looks like things are going up...but as of now it's still one of my least favorite malls. Also, it's worth noting that the food court here is terrible. It has that one Chinese restaurant with the samples and a steak and baked potatoe place but it's still pretty lacking. read more

My first mall. Ever! I grew up in the fine town of Miamisburg, and this was the only mall around. Back then Macy's was Lazarus and there were much different stores inside the mall. Every time I visit my family I still stop by for nostalgia's sake, even though I now live in the shopping Mecca aka Chicago. There was definitely a period of time when the mall was "ghetto" and I guess compared to some of the other new malls, it still is. However, I feel that the crowd is appropriate for the area. It's diverse just like the surrounding residents. The mall seems very quiet since it is undergoing much needed renovations. I'm excited to see Forever 21 being expanded and the arrival of H&M. I think it will bring more traffic to the mall. The surrounding restaurants are really great. I hope that Dayton Mall continues to progress and remains a mall that locals will continue to support. read more

I used to love the Dayton Mall. I still want to love the Dayton Mall, but it is very sad to see all the emptiness. With the recent closing of Sears and Elder Beerman the atmosphere has changed. JC Penney and Macys still remain as anchor stores. The Macys here is huge and is one of my favorites in Cincy/Dayton area. B&B Works and VS here also seem to be nicer than other locations (selection wise). The mall is trying so hard to keep clientele with fun events for kids and adults. On this day they were setting up an entire home show in the mall! I also noticed a little bar outside the lower Macys entrance! The place is always clean and bright with ample parking. I am not on the lets get rid of all indoor malls bandwagon, especially in a state that experiences Winter and endless rain, so hopefully they can keep it going! read more

I live about 5 miles from the Dayton Mall, so it has always been my first choice in stores simply for its location. This place is nothing special, but it has all that a mall needs to be productive. It has the major players (Macy's, Beermans, Sears, Penny's), a food court with some really good food, and all of the smaller favorites like Old Navy and Foot Locker. I personally love Cardboard Heroes, DSW, and Torrid. These three stores are the most common causes for my visits to the mall. Steak Escape is a great place to eat, although neither the owner nor his son know the term "customer service". They charge $0.50 for a beverage refill!! But that's for another review. FYI: Sbarro's refills are free. I must admit that the mall is less than par in the patronage element. Many young hooligan-type clientele make this place their routine hangout. The mall has counter acted the problem by enforcing rules to curb poor behavior. For example, the mall requires teens to be accompanied by an adult after a certain hour. I appreciate the effort of management to make the mall safer and more enjoyable for people like me. read more

I don't want to say that this mall is lousy but getting to the mall is lousy because the area is so congested. It's a small-ish mall that's been there for something like 40 years now. Rike's has shifted to ShillitoRike's, Lazarus, and now Macy's, but at least it's in the same location. The cinema seems to be gone and J.C. Penney is there instead. Tough to see a movie there. There is also the typical craptacular food court and Chick-Fil-A elsewhere hasn't moved since the mall opened. It's better to go away from the mall to eat. They also have the teen stores like American Eagle and the Hollister Tomato Picking Company and loads of shoes. They are apparently doing construction to move Dick's Sporting Goods from across 741 and 725 into the mall, which is a bonus. All in all, it's a mall. read more

Went into Aerie for last Christmas gifts. We were ridiculed by Mariah the manage when I tried on a sweatshirt over my shirt. To make matter worse she called 3 other employees over to talk about me and my mom which was completely unprofessional. When we went to talk to the lead manager, she was unsympathetic and did not acknowledge the behavior of her employees. We will not be shopping at either stores in Dayton. read more

Nice mall to check out since my hotel was across the parking lot. I stopped in after dinner to walk around and do some light shopping. The mall was nice, great selection of stores, clean and parking was plentiful. It reminds me of an indoor strip mall. It wasn't very big but it was nice and convenient to restaurants and shops in the surrounding area. read more

The Dayton mall is doing a lot to continue to be a destination for shopping, restaurants and entertainment. It's exciting to see what is coming with the Miami Crossing hub. It was the Saturday before Father's Day. The weather was rainy and gloomy. I was staying in Dayton with my daughter, two grandchildren and son-in-law who had to work most of the weekend. My daughter and I had hoped for a nice day so my soon to be 3 year old grandson could play outside at a park somewhere but that was not to be. That is when my daughter suggested the Dayton Mall play area. We chose to enter the mall thru one of the major anchor stores. I think it was Macy's. The children's play area is near Lids, GNC, Foot Locker and Auntie Anne's. It was just a short walk away after we entered the main mall. The restroom facilities are nearby. When we got near the enclosed play area my grandson seemed to recognize it as he ran in and took off his shoes. There were quite a few other families already there that had the same idea. It has kid friendly carpeting and very colorful structures including a rocket ship and many other insect and small animal themed ones to climb on, under, thru and slide down. It was just what we needed on a rainy day. My grandson ran around climbing up onto and then jumping off them. With comfortable seating all the way around the enclosed area it is easy to keep an eye on your kids. Outside the play area entrance there is the Supergirl phone charging station that is courtesy of The Dayton CW station. Next to the play area are children's pay to play rides including a small carousal. There are also big gumball and candy machines and a soda machine. I will take a nice outdoor park on a warm sunny day anytime time I can get there with my grandson but this indoor play area is a great service for indoor shoppers at the Dayton Mall. I use to go to this mall to go to Forever 21 and I like their Macy's. Unfortunetly it was the only close mall with those stores. :) I've had many experiences at this mall. Here's one story.... my cousin and I were shopping in the juniors department in Macy's (Lazarus at the time) and we left, went to another store, then went to the food court to get something to eat. When we got to the food court people were freaking out. We then heard that some man went into Lazarus and pointed a gun a two woman, then killed himself. I'm terrified walking to my car. I'm scared to look at someone the wrong way, and have them wanna "beat my ass" cause they're cool like that. Oh, and someone I know almost got jumped walking to her car! BEWARE!! I went there again last week for the first time in probably 15 years or so. I immediately got heartburn from the memories of shopping at Chess King and eating at the Great Steak Escape. Ok. yes the Great American Cookie Company is awesome and has Double Doozie cookies, however if it wasn't for that I would say that I would never ever step in there again. Fortunately for the Mall they added some open air stores and restaurants which save it from needing a bomb dropped on it. Oh and one really great thing about the Dayton Mall is that there is a bus station really close, so as the other review states, there is always that added possibility and excitement of getting shot. read more

This mall has seen better days. Four years ago Dayton mall was the premier shopping destination in the metro area, their were no empty stores and dozens on kiosk in the isle ways. Now their are empty spaces in every wing and the upstairs is almost vacant excpet the food court. The Greene really took a bit out of this malls traffic, and some of the higher end stores have left. However, during the winter this mall still has potential when it's to cold to go to the Greene. read more

This place is strange. It seems huge and sprawling with some stores on the outside having an entrance to the mall and others just being 'separate'. Not being familiar with this area, the entire mall road that the Dayton Mall sits on is overstimulating and slightly overwhelming. So many stores, restaurants, some houses, where to go? We ended up hoping to visit the DSW, but it wasn't open yet, so we ventured into the mall (by going outside and walking a quarter mile) hoping to salvage the stop. There are a few big stores in Gap, Macy's, and a few others, but overall the impression is of second string stores with calico, country, Spencer's like themes. It reminded me of the craptastic mall that I grew up near in a small town of 30,000. I know that Dayton isn't huge, and malls really aren't overly impressive to me in general, but this one felt cheap and full of filler. There were, as is so common anymore, wings of the mall with pretty much nothing going on. Open store fronts don't bother me, but they don't contribute to a better atmosphere. There was an attempt to put a kids train (think the zoo sans tracks) in one of these areas, but it was also really strange. The horn did not salvage my experience and seemed like a shot in the dark to make a buck. God bless America? The food court wasn't much different than any other, the layout was as confusing as any other mall if you're a newbie, but my real complaint is the cheapness of the stores that seemed to far outnumber other mall stores I'm familiar with. Maybe I'm judgmental in that respect, but I don't love the mall as it is, so a particularly bad one seems to really rub me the wrong way. I grew up going to this mall so i have been here a lot!, they have pretty much every store you need, I really enjoy the outdoor malls now a days so i tend to visit those more frequently, but when i need some frozen yogurt i like to go to Tutti Frutti located in back by JC Penny entrance to mall. the workers in the mall vary since there are so many from store to store but i always get what i need and have never had a problem at this mall. the food court is a decent size with about 7 options from Chinese to pizza to a pita place. always changing with how frequent i visit now. lots of cool stores here, if its a rainy day or miserable out take a walk through the Dayton mall :) read more
