    Riverhouse Banquets & Weddings

We held our rehearsal dinner at the Riverhouse for my son and daughter-in-law's wedding the next…read moreday. About 30 guests were in attendance. We chose this venue because of it's location in proximity to the wedding (Baker's Ranch), the price, the menu, and mostly because of the room itself and the views of the sunset over the Manatee River. When we first met with Cindi many months ago, she already knew the time of sunset on March 9. That speaks for itself. We set the end of cocktail hour to coincide with that time, and worked everything backwards from there for the rehearsal. The sun cooperated on the day of the event and everything was magical. We choose an open bar, appetizers, and a menu of about five entrees. The food was all very good, but I wouldn't call it excellent. The mahi-mahi was a tad too done. The brisket was close to excellent. I didn't have the island tacos, but heard they were a hit. The coconut shrimp was perfect. So a mix. Appetizers were generous. We selected "premium level" beer and wine and liquor for the bar. Mostly I was happy with that choice - good beer and liquor, except I felt that the Chardonnay options brought it down a notch. We asked for a slightly better Chardonnay, and the best we could get was still not so great. Wine lovers need a little more value in an event like this, and a better white would help to improve the overall value of the premium selection. The venue and the staff are the reason the rating is high. Cindi was very helpful and accommodating from the time we first met in the fall, but really showed her professionalism on the night of the event. She and her team were friendly and helpful, paying attention to detail and flexible in meeting our needs. Big kudos to the staff!

I had so little time and flexibility, but Cindi and the team at the Riverhouse consistently went above and beyond to make everything so easy and perfect with me. I cannot imagine what my wedding would have been like without them. They are FANTASTIC and I whole-heartedly recommend this venue to all my friends and family. The venue is beautiful, food is delicious, and the people are amazing.

Food was pretty good, but the service was absolutely horrific…read more First off, we waited at the table for over 10 mins without any service. I had to go remind the hostess that we were there and waiting. No apologies. When the server, Michael, came over he said "I'll go get you waters since you guys just got here." No. Actually we got here 15 mins ago and you know that because you walked past us twice. Then he dropped a water glass on the table lol. Ok, fine. Took forever to get a water and we had to ask for a drink menu and ask for a kids menu. I guess they didn't see the stroller or remember that they brought over a high chair. Whatever, we can move past it. What I really can't get past is that EVERY SINGLE thing we ordered was MISSING something from the plate. Cornbread appetizer was cold when it arrived. Can't say that I ever received food in a cast iron skillet that was served below room temp. Ordered the house salad... had to send it back because it was missing the cheese and nuts. Ordered a bowl of soup... they brought out a cup. Ordered the kids French toast... they forgot the side of bacon. Ordered the tacos with fries.... They forgot the fries. Ordered the eggs Benedict.... They forgot the side of potatoes. They had to be doing it on purpose, right?! You can't be a wanna be classy restaurant on the water and be open on holidays and be THAT incompetent, can you?? Oh well. Their loss. Won't be back and would not recommend The Riverhouse to anyone.

They seem to pay attention to the details and keep a close eye on the guests to ensure everyone is comfortable and satisfied. I loved the chandelier and the fact that it was able to be lowered for the perfect first dance photos. The lawn was well manicured and I fell in love with the large oak tree with the climbing giant golden pothos. Since I was a guest, not sure how cost effective this location is but from my experience, I enjoyed myself.

The detail and effort the put into planning my wedding, you would think I was family, and that's exactly how they make you feel. They made sure we had everything covered to have the most perfect day possible. They abide by a very well-organized timeline and send you reminders on things you may need to get done. The décor meeting and walk through are so much fun! They are very quick to respond to phone calls and emails during operating hours. I cannot thank the Baker's Ranch day- of team, Jeremy, Jac, and especially Melissa enough. Of course, Mother Nature couldn't help but to rain on my parade (yes, I know its apparently good luck). Melissa and the team were so quick on their feet with absolutely everything, they had plan B, C, and a plan D lined up for whatever was thrown our way. Everything was executed flawlessly, and the best part is they made sure that I did not stress out about it. They were always onboard and honest with my ideas, and really made my dream wedding, come to life, even with the rain. I really do need to give a special shout out to Melissa, she was at my side when I didn't even know I needed her. She was attentive, graceful, and just a god sent on my special day. If you are reading this, book Bakers Ranch! The alleviate so many stressful factors that go into planning a wedding, they work with AMAZING vendors, and the venue is absolutely breath taking. THANK YOU SO MUCH BAKER'S RANCH!

Our story started with finding a gem of a reception venue, Worthington in Ellenton, FL. It was…read moreperfect for our daughter's wedding reception in October. It is a great location and a fun, old Florida lodge. We had everything planned, and then we had two hurricanes. This review is being done because of the unprofessional way we have been treated and how Worthington Management has handled this situation. It is now seven weeks from the day of my daughter's wedding and there is still no follow-up from Management. Imagine having your daughter's dream day become the biggest nightmare. As we waited for the hurricane to move through the area, we had no idea what would happen with the wedding plans that were made. The second hurricane affected Worthington, there was no electricity as many local businesses had to deal with. We were in communication with the wedding planner after the storm passed, this is when things were not handled the right way. The wedding planner's text communication was not timely, she finally told us the second day after the hurricane, that "there was no way it would be cleaned up by tomorrow". This was Friday and our wedding was on Saturday. The venue cancellation for the reception was devastating. We were at a loss for what to do. We received no help from Management with finding an alternative plan for where to have the reception. We had 120 family members traveling, still coming to FL for the wedding. There was a major communication problem with the wedding planner; she was not very good at handling this unexpected situation. The Worthington Management didn't reach out to us to help our family with this situation. We had to call to ask for our money back a week after they canceled the reception, as no services were rendered by Worthington. We did speak to Worthington Management and she agreed to give us a partial refund and the money my daughter gave for the bar/alcohol fees. We have yet to receive a follow-up in writing as we requested or the money that we are owed ~$6381. This isn't a small amount of money, and it is unethical to keep money for services that were not provided. We are in a situation where we don't know what to do, as we have been "ghosted" by Worthington Management and have not been paid back money that is rightfully ours.

After 9 months of planning our reception with Worthington, we could not have our reception there.   There was a hurricane coming our way the same week of my wedding. Once the hurricane passed, we had to call to see how bad Worthington was hit. The wedding planner said that they had no power, and they could not host our reception. They suggested we change the date for our wedding; however, this wasn't an option. Most of our family still made the trip to Florida and our ceremony at a church nearby was able to have the mass for us. In a crisis such as a hurricane, which was very traumatic for us, they did not help us at all to have our reception with them on the day of our wedding.   From the beginning, we always had to reach out to them for questions. They did not reach out to us to apologize and have been ghosting us throughout trying to get this resolved.   We called and spoke to management and she stated we would get our money back for the alcohol and the payments made for the venue. Still, almost two months later now, we have not heard back from management and they have not reached out to follow up on this. They are literally holding our money at this time. This is not a business you want to work with to have your dream wedding. They need better management to be able to handle when a catastrophic weather situation occurs, and it will again during hurricane season.
