So if I factored in all the variables, I would round up to 4 stars here (not to be confused with the actual hotel star ratings). One major variable being availability on the key, which is not much. First off the price was right. Especially for being right on the beach on one of the famous Sarasota keys. And not only being on the beach but newly renovated and fully capable to handle a family get a way weekend. With a nice publix right down the street you can easily stock up your suite for a long weekend stay that doesn't break the bank with having to eat out every meal. The suite has a fully functional kitchen with oven, stove, microwave, coffee maker, toaster, full sized refrigerator and freezer, dish washer, and cupboards stocked with some essential items for cooking and eating. This is a huge benefit for people staying for a long weekend or even longer. Not many places to eat on the key, and most of them are up there in price or not much on the menu for little ones. It also is very closely located to a fully involved Publix. So either grab some groceries for the weekend, or some cold cuts from the deli, Chinese food, or any of the many offerings Publix has. You can also bring back some meat to throw on the grill provided in the common area back at the hotel. Even though the outside looks weathered (as most beach locations do), the inside was very clean and brand new renovations made it feel fresh and new. The living room had a dining room table right next to an amazing view from the huge windows. Also a couch with pull out bed, a Murphy pull down bed, and some comfy chair recliners. The outside patio had a table and 2 nice chairs to enjoy the outside. The place even came with a washer and dryer in the unit to keep those towels and swimsuits clean and dry for all the repeat usage over your stay. The hotel also had a little pool to splash around in. Nothing too special but nice to take a quick dip in or let the kids splash around. Tables, umbrellas, and chairs provided. They also give you complimentary beach umbrellas with the sand anchors as well as lounge chairs. You can even take out some bogey boards. And being steps from the beach can't be beat. Another plus they provided complimentary large beach towels for you to use. Definitely taking some extra steps to add to the value. I guess the only knock I really had on the place was the cramped and small parking situation and the noisy conjoined door. It was not insulated well at all to block sound. Could hear the neighbors fairly clearly when they were close to the door. Lucky for us they were nice and quiet people and it didn't actually disturb us, but we are a loud family with 2 loud kids so I can only imagine how it sounded on their side. Or how our enjoyment could've changed if we did have loud people next to us. They definitely need to look to improve the sound proofing around those conjoined doors. And there also isn't a lot of bells and whistles to this place. But you go here for a nice peaceful and easy beach weekend getaway, not if you are looking for hustle and bustle. Overall it was a great little vacation, and a big part of that was staying at this suite. I feel fully confident in choosing this place again when we return, as well as recommending it to family and friends. read more

This is a very nice place to stay on Longboat Key. We reserved late and didn't expect much, so this place was a nice surprise. We reserved a one bedroom, one bathroom apartment and we were assigned 227 (FYI, this room has the best views on the property). The room can sleep 6 if needed with a murphy bed and sleeper sofa included, so the three of us fit just fine. The kitchen includes a full-size refrigerator, oven, stove, microwave, and dishwasher, plus most needed dishes and utensils. This unit is on an open end of the property and includes nice views of the beach and the park next door. The only knock against this property is - like most beach-side properties on this island - Gulf Drive is close by and it is usually pretty quiet, except the motor cycles passing by could wake the dead. Addendum: we left an item behind that was mistakenly sent to the offsite laundry. The management happily recovered the item and shipped it to us. Great service! read more

A beachfront beauty! This place is clean and well kept and the rooms and kitchen have all modern updates. We have stayed here three times over the years and have been happy EVERY time. Well maintained and the staff always goes out of their way to help. The pool is well maintained and clean and the beach access is easy and, well, the beach is the best (hey, this is Longboat Key!). They even have a foot/body spray off area and several chaise lounges on the beach for guest use. The only ding I would give is for the parking, as some rooms have more cars there and this can potentially take away from the people that have rooms paid for and assigned, thus, I would suggest designated parking. We stayed here two nights. Room was small wall bed was very uncomfortable. Pull-out couch was worse. The toilet paper roller was next to the bathtub instead of the toilet. The location was excellent. The room we stayed in was a studio size. Everything in the room squeaked. The pool wall bed squeak every time you rolled over or moved. You could not use the ceiling fan do being so noisy. The rate versus the room very overpriced. Rate should be cut in half especially during the off season. read more

It's a great location and I do like the stepping back in time feel to the place but a few things could be done. First it's an older location which is fine to some degree but each room has the old school connecting metal door to the other unit next to you. This provides a huge burden to sound and smells from your neighboring room. For example one of our evenings the unit next to us cooked fish and we smeled fish for the rest of the night! Also no sound barriers at all! The unit we stayedin is small which is OK but glad we brought a small fan with us to help push air conditioning into the bedroom from living/kitchen. This unit when air conditioning is running sounds Ike someone is tapping on the wall behind the headboard of bed which is annoying. Parking is tight so be prepared, 4 door trucks are going to have issues. So a few things to deal with but like I said the location is great, low key and small groups which I like. All that being said I would give it a second try in a different unit maybe a end unit to reduce the noise and smells by half. read more

We stayed here for one week. Room was studio with wall bed. Bed was horribly uncomfortable and squeaked and groaned every move made. The screen door was inoperable and torn. The lounge chairs were broken. The appliances were all full size(strange for such a small space) and worked and the beach was amazing and steps away. For the price that we paid the accommodations were seriously lacking. Will not return. read more

Would never come back here. I reserved what I thought was a one bedroom suite. On the phone i was told we had a queen bed in one room then the sleeper sofa as well in the common area. I guess on the phone they weren't very clear that there actually was no bedroom at all. We got a studio and we had 4 adults in one tiny room. No way to change or get a refund since we didn't know till we got there. The Murphy bed and the pull out couch BARELY even fit in the room that when you open them both to sleep they actually hit eachother and had a hard time even fitting both open. The pictures on their website must be their biggest unit..doesn't apply to anything else. For what we paid we were extremely disappointed as there were much nicer places for the same money. The beach was awful & I love longboat key (have been coming for years). There was construction with huge trucks constantly coming back and forth moving sand which made the beach COMPLETLY unusable. The only sand on the beach was basically the road for these trucks. We paid to stay on the beach for the weekend and all we could do was use the pool. We had a horrible experience and I will never return here. read more
