This was the most absolute worst hotel experience ever. I was driving my family from Ohio back down to Florida. It was was midnight, and starting to rain, so I exited 75 and looked for a place to stay. At first, I pulled into Super 8, but decided to go with Days Inn instead, pay a little more for a cleaner room and better breakfast. I rang the bell and waited for an Indian man to come unlock the door (later found out his name was "Daygis"- not sure about the spelling). I asked him what kind of hot breakfast they had, and he said "waffles". I checked in and we went to the room. It was just after midnight, so we planned on just crashing. Momma bear freaked out because she saw a German cockroach (I'm in the pest control business). I reassured her that most motels are infested, and one was fine. Then she saw five more, so we immediately brought our bags to the car for the night. We slept uneventfully. The next morning, we went to breakfast about halfway through- around 8:30. I looked at the waffle maker- it was crusty and gross. But even worse- nothing to make the waffles that he had reassured me about the night before. I went to the front desk and told the Indian man that they were out of waffle mix. He told me that there was no more, that there was a large unexpected number of guests and that there was nothing he could do about it. I asked to confirm- in the previous two hours there were so many people that enjoyed waffles that the hotel couldn't keep up? We were the only guests in the lobby at that time. I looked around the breakfast setup- some cereal, funky smelling milk, and a couple of egg patties. I asked him if the would comp us for Waffle House next door. He said no. I asked if they had any other breakfast options- nope. We left and got ready to go, but not before I grabbed their last container of coffee from under the cabinet. I went back to the front desk to turn in the key. I asked the Indian man his name. "Oh, um, it's Mike". I looked at his Indian self up and down. "Mike?" "Yeah". I asked him what the manager's name was. He responded that he didn't know. I asked, "you don't know your own boss' name???" He said, "Oh, he's Mike too". I said, "Mike too? You're Mike One and he's Mike Two??" He said, "Um, yes". I asked what the owner's information was. He told me that there were five owners, but nothing else. Then he gave me a comment card. I went out to the car and told Momma Bear about what had happened. She jumped out of the car and went over to some housekeepers outside, and asked if the man behind the front desk was named "Mike". The one man laughed and said "No, he's Indian". The woman said that his name is "Daygis" (I'm unsure how to spell that). I went back to the front lobby and said "Hey Daygis". He looked at me, and then looked down to see if he was wearing a name tag. I pointed at him and said "You lied to me!" He waved his hands in front of him and said "No, no, no!" I walked out. We drove about twenty minutes south, to a much, much nicer Days Inn, parked in back, went in through the broken unlocked back door, and had a wonderful breakfast. I had biscuits and gravy. The lady tending the breakfast bar was wonderful. The kids enjoyed it. So ultimately, DO NOT STAY HERE. The service is crap, the breakfast is crap, and the building that the lobby is in is infested with German cockroaches, which are damn near impossible to get rid of, whether in your vehicle or home. I've stayed in hundreds of hotels, and this is the absolute worst hotel stay I've ever had, tied with a Knights Inn in Seattle when I stepped in human poop in the hallway. I'm not stopping at this review. I'm going to post this on every damn travel site I can find, and write a letter to corporate. read more
