Happily, in this context, public transport or my own two feet are usually my preferred means of arrival. On Sunday evening, however, my companion and I needed to park here. We took a long while to chance upon this sweet little car park, by the river, heading towards Teddington. It was a bargain, at just £1 for the whole evening, and worked efficiently in terms of access and obtaining the relevant ticket. Recommended for a great view, too!

This multi-storey car park is attached to the Ashley Centre but also serves as evening parking for the adjacent Epsom Playhouse and restaurants on South Street. It only costs £1 to park here all evening after 6.30pm - I wished all councils (I'm looking at you, Wimbledon and Morden!) would reduce their car park charges, which is creating lots of empty car parks and irate council taxpayers. The car park itself has enough space in the evenings when I use it. The spaces are a reasonable size unless you drive a large vehicle. The pay machines generally work OK. A good solid choice for car parking in Epsom!

Every tourist traveling by car seems to want to arrive in Brighton via the coast road. This is the first real carpark they will encounter. Because of its location it takes cars away from driving into the centre. This enables the city roads to be less jammed. I once heard that all the squares off this main coastal route wished to have such underground carparks. The Regency square turned out to be the only one that didn't have an ancient river below it or any other problems stopping such a project.

Trawling the net I came across Lomax Parking. What a find that was. For £15 a day (cheaper than most airports) we booked a place. A bonus was that if parking for 3 days or more, there is a courtesy taxi to the station and pick up on return. PERFECT. Everything went so smoothly, thanks to those guys at Lomax.

Only a short wait for a bus on our 3 am arrival, another helpful driver, and the car was waiting for us to leave with a minimum of fuss. Only downside is that the site is a fair distance form the actual airport, but that's the price you pay for economy, and hardly their fault. As good as one would hope for and a good deal better than most. Will definitely use APH again.
