Once we talked with Matt, we said "He's our guy." It took us 2 years to find the right "forever home" property. Matt was with us every step of the way as we plotted the site, worked with the excavator and designed our new home. He was exceptionally helpful when I wanted to modify the floor plan extensively. On top of every detail. Did everything go according to plan? Of course not. Building projects always have their glitches. We were disappointed with some of the finishing work that was not done by the subcontractors. But Matt was with us every step of the way. He responded to the problems immediately. Offered us acceptable alternatives. Cared enough to make us happy. And listened. Our home was completed in late 2017 and we have been there since early 2018. We love it! Especially the additions that we incorporated like the coffered ceilings, exterior extensions, large pantry, walk-in shower, pocket doors and undercounter (giggle) lights in the kitchen. Matt's ability to listen and solve problems with a minimum of muss and fuss is worthy of my highest level of respect. He has integrity. Not planning on building any other homes, but, if we did, Matt would be our guy. No question.

I could not be there to "supervise" the work, and they did all work precisely as I had requested. (They even cleaned up very well). I feel that they charged a fair price for the work they performed, and my interaction with the owner of the company was pleasant and professional. He was very detailed oriented, took pictures of specific work areas so he could explain what was required to his crew, and was patient as we discussed options. He also followed up with me regarding the specific amperage of an appliance we plan to install to ensure they sized the wire appropriately. I would use this company again at any time.

Since we were not local, there were a million small decisions that he had to make along the way, but he always reached out to discuss anything he needed our input on. His attention to detail was amazing. Basically - he sweats the small stuff. He would have very detailed conversations with the finish carpenter, for example, on exactly how to finish out the stairs and banisters to give the best look. It shows. There is truly nothing left to chance. Considerations: We did go quite a bit over the original quoted amount, but very rarely was it due to something that we did not request. For example, we did end up having to get footing drains because they encountered clay instead of just sand. That was an unexpected (minor) increase. But all the other overages were because Kevin made a good-faith estimate on the materials and labor for each line item, and then we chose more expensive materials, or more complex selections. We added a bathroom, added under-deck ceilings, upgraded the banisters, etc. None of these were decided at the point of the original estimate, so they weren't considered at that time. We did also go considerably over the original estimated time. Ours was a considerably larger home than his usual project, so I do think he struggled a bit to estimate the time to complete - even once we were under construction. Part of the delay was due to waiting for his preferred sub-contractors to be available. He has specific subs that he knows and trusts will do the best work. So, if his preferred painter was busy on another job, we had a delay. There were some cases where he brought in additional subs (such as for our drywall), to make progress more quickly. But for finish carpentry, painting, etc, he would only use the best. And we agreed. The results are fantastic, and worth the wait. We plan to use him again, and would highly recommend him to anyone considering a custom built home.

New home build on a $1.1 million home…read more The good: Excellent quality, at least when we were under construction. Most of the subs were excellent. The bad: Construction that was supposed to take 10 months took 22. We spoke to others who have been under construction for over 2 years. We still have things that need to be fixed or done right but cannot get a response. The construction went almost 50% over budget. This was a formerly excellent builder who is overbooked and way behind. I'd find someone else unless you are willing to invest years of your life waiting.

They worked great together and we connected on things like mountain biking and kids. At the end they both said the previous person had inflated the estimate and that they will talk with management to make a lowering adjustment to the bill. Called a couple times with no call backs then sent a detailed message explaining. Management said they were willing to take a look at the bill and talk with the guys. Was notified today that the guys who performed the work said the conversation never took place and that's not how they do things. I honestly don't have the time and imagination to make some bogus claim. I was initially grateful at the honesty and didn't really think my bill would be lowered. If they did really talk with the guys, it's just my word against theirs and I was labeled a liar. Therefore I will never do business again with advance electric and as a small business owner I would not recommend them either. I hope they enjoyed the chocolate chip cookies and rice crispy treats.

Despite one small set back with scheduling which was dealt with and fixed within hours, these people who work for this company did what they said and did it with pride and honor. Calls were returned when they said they would call, texts were answered on Saturday and Sunday. We have done enough work on 3 houses to know the difference with a company that cares and a company that cares less. Brava Brava.
