My son went to this daycare for about a year in 2023. Our experience was a mixed bag…read more The good - It's my son's first daycare and he had a relatively smooth start here. Michelle and her crew are experienced, and they did create a cheerful environment for the kids. The bad - Sloppy day-to-day operations, or so we suspect at least. We could only speculate because the daycare was never open-door to parent visits (aside from the after-hour tour before we enrolled), but there were clear signs: (1) after the final checkout we found our son's steel mug missing, and it sounded like the crew didn't even remember seeing it - makes us wonder how they manage each kid's personal items. (2) Apparently, kids get to watch TV the last hour-ish before pickup every day. When we asked about this, Ms Michelle was 100% unapologetic. ("If you have concerns with that, I can totally arrange for your kid to stay in another room before pickup.") The ugly - The tuition uses a monthly rate without any adjustments for days off, and in December 2023, they're open for a whopping total of FOUR days - which isn't great, but nothing unethical I think, as they did share the calendar beforehand. We happen to be traveling the entire December, so we gave the 30-day notice for an end-of-November checkout. To our surprise, this was considered by Michelle an unfair (?) attempt to circumvent the December rip-off, and she insisted that we receive 5 fewer days of care in November. She would also go out of her way and type a "holiday notice" customized just for us. For context, the schedule has a 5-day off for Thanksgiving that's moved to December instead, and the daycare's open for the week of Thanksgiving. We were given a customized fake schedule that says they're closed during that week. We happened to be traveling, too, so it wasn't a huge issue, but the shady practice and bad attitude by Michelle did leave a bad taste. No, Ms Michelle, you can't claim people are "taking unfair advantages" when all they do is try to stick to YOUR established schedule. The care provided during Thanksgiving week was part of your schedule, simply as that and not a "benefit" that you selectively bestow only to those paying $2,000 for 4 days of care in the next month.

I was lucky enough to keep my child at home until they were over a year old, but I had to return to the office and it was no longer possible to maintain. The opportunity to send my child to Little Pearls suddenly arrived. My husband and I toured the house, and our child met Sumi for the first time. Sumi asked if it was okay to wipe our child's nose and give them hug. My child being held by a completely new person seemed to be at ease in Sumi's arms. While most parents primarily interact with Sumi, her husband Tarun, is also a licensed child care provider. Sumi encouraged us to look up her license number prior to enrolling and to review the parent handbook throughly, and I would expect she still suggests the same. She is willing to discuss any questions you might have about what's there. It took weeks for my child to adjust to being in daycare. Sumi gave us tips on how we could help at home and sent us regular updates on our child's progress. It was very stressful at the time, but now my child runs into Sumi's house every morning excited to start their day together. I really appreciate the home cooked meals and no TV time. My child eats a wide variety of foods and it's so helpful for me to have my child's meals taken care of during a busy work week. My child has a daily schedule and it's helped us maintain regular bedtimes. My child is treated like a person, and Sumi knows all her kids so well. Sumi loves her kids and we've recommended Little Pearls to other new parents and will continue to recommend them. I am so thankful that Sumi has helped us develop such a kind and curious child during our time at Little Pearls. I'm sure we will miss her very much when my child goes to school.

Updating review for Older Infants classroom…read more My son started in the infant classroom at 7 months and transitioned to the older infants class at 12 months. Older infants is for children 12-18 months. The transition was so smooth! He slowly visited the older infants class and was able to get to know the teachers and the classroom before he formally started. This classroom is all about routine vs the infant class where everything is done off baby's cues and their personal/parent routine. Our son quickly adapted and thrived off having a set routine. The other big change is being able to go outside to the toddler playground which is separate from the older children. When our son transitioned he was unable to walk yet but quickly picked it up soon after moving classes. It's amazing how the teachers are able to do so much with such young toddlers. From sitting all together for circle time, to the endless art projects, to gross motor activities. We are constantly kept up to date via the app and the teachers always tell us about his day at pickup. Our son loves his teachers and is always happy to see Ms. Chua at drop off, who welcome him with open loving arms. Ms. Iris always gives such great updates at pick up. And Ms. Yali has been such a great addition to the class. Overall, we'd one thousand percent recommend Primrose!
