I wish I had read the reviews before working with Dawson because it would have saved me so much time and frustration. I was contacted by the agency after applying for a job on ZipRecruiter. The recruiter told me the job I'd applied for had been filled but he had some other opportunities I'd be perfect for. He made lots of big promises about higher pay and told me because of the strength of my resume he wouldn't put me in a temp position. He promised that every interview he sent me on would be for a permanent job. I interviewed with a company I was very excited about and got the position. On my first day they told me it was a temp job with the possibility that I may be hired further down the road. I heard horror stories from others in my position who had been placed by Dawson that they had waited for months to be given a permanent job and were forced to schedule interviews for their prospective replacements in the mean time. Dawson knew that this position was temporary and lied to me right up until my first day (and I know this was on Dawson and not the company because I was being paid through Dawson payroll). There were several other issues with the placement that I believe were equally the fault of Dawson and the company I was working for. I eventually left the temp job and continued to work with Dawson to try to find permanent work. I felt like they never listened to what I was looking for in a job and sent me on interviews for jobs that didn't suit me at all. I eventually found a my dream job on my own. I think going through an agency can be helpful, but make sure you're working with somebody who is realistic about your options. Dawson will promise the moon and they can't deliver. read more

Pros: Friendly staff. Professional & courteous, offering water and snacks to candidates both before and after interview. Cons: Building is a little difficult to find the first time. Also, drug testing is done on site immediately following the interview. Drug testing is standard and no surprise; it was more the fact that it was performed on site by my sales rep (?) that I found strange. read more

I do not recommend Dawson. I worked with Lindsey Taylor with Dawson, and I the experience quite. Taylor, a jovial and wonderful person, did not seem to hear me in what I hoped for in a position. She sent me lists of positions not part of what we had discussed the very same day. Eventually, I did take up a post with one of their clients. From what Taylor described, the position would be something I could do well. In the first few hours, I discovered it was not what Taylor promised making me uncomfortable and breaking the trust I had developed for her. I wrote her supervisor, Emily Mason, asking to be switched. After several days, Mason responded that it was a "waste of time." Waste of time or not, this experience has now left me unemployed and struggling to find another position without resources. read more

I wish I could give this place zero stars. This place is a joke....a very bad joke. Here is my experience with this place..... Five years ago, while looking for a new opportunity, I contacted Dawson in response to a job posting. I spoke with Phil Freeman. He assured me that I was "perfect" for the position and that I wouldn't have any trouble getting the job. At the end of my meeting with him, he said that I had to create a "video resume." Once he explained it, I told him that I am not comfortable doing it since the job was an administrative position and not a position that would require me to be the "face" of the company. He said he understood and would still present my resume. After that meeting, he never returned my calls. The one email he did respond to simply said, "They went with a candidate who had a video." A few months ago, after having my position eliminated, I contacted Dawson yet again for a position I saw listed (I had forgotten about the video thing.) Phil Freeman was the recruiter handling the listing and he contacted me to discuss my resume. Once again, he said I was perfect for the position and he could almost guarantee I would get the job. That's when he brought up the video and I once again politely declined. And just as before, he stopped responding to my phone calls and emails. Do not use this agency unless you enjoy being given the runaround. I would suggest calling Angela or Mary Beth at Nesco in Dublin. They are great to work with. read more

I would not recommend Dawson at all, I got a job with them and my experience was terrible, and when I left the job they got mad at me and my recruiter was very very rude over the phone. I won't say her name due to respect towards her, something that she clearly doesn't have for people who she thinks are "below" her or when things don't go her way. When talking on the phone with her, all her cheery enthusiasm that she had at the interview was gone, and I was just baffled on the phone, couldn't even articulate a word out of my disbelief on the situation that was taking place at that time. I have never had someone speak to me like that, and never will allow it again. I should have said something but I was honestly shocked. It won't happen again, that's for sure. Despite the low professionalism of my recruiter due to that event, I think the problem is with the company itself, regardless of the luck that you may have with your recruiter. Most jobs that they have are from high traffic places that need to hire regardless of your agency status. Overall 0/10, would NOT recommend. read more

I honestly would not waste your time with them. I've been assigned to jobs 2 weeks in advance, only to have it be cancelled a few days before I start. They seem to lack office jobs in general, except outbound call centers selling sketchy loans and data entry in warehouse locations that are scheduled until 11pm.... Not worth it. read more

I applied to a position on a job board that matched my skill set and experience and advertised higher pay than I currently make. After submitting the application I was contacted by Dawson, as they had placed the ad. They asked me to come into their office for an interview. I arrived at the office and they needed Driver's License, Social Security Card, and a few forms filled out. Okay, still not too bad...I guess... Then it was my turn to interview. Immediately after greeting I was asked "Do you want to take your drug test now, or wait until after the interview?" Okay. I understand I will need to drug test for most professional positions, to drug test for an interview? That's a bit strange. Turns out the 'interview' wasn't for the job to which I had applied, but was to create my profile with Dawson. The job I thought I was applying to apparently didn't even exist. During this information session the recruiter asked me why I was looking for temporary work. I said I'm not, I'm looking for a permanent position. She said "Okay. Sometimes we fill those as well" Then she asked me my salary, which I answered honestly, and she said "usually we only recruit for entry level positions. Sometimes we find positions around $X.00 per hour, which is about where you're looking." (Her $X.00 per hour number was actually $10,000 per year less than my current salary, but arithmetic isn't too commonplace these days). Then she told me to make a video "for recruiting purposes." I old her that I'm in HR, and that there is not an HR person or resume professional around that will instruct someone to include a head shot, as it opens to many doors to hiring decisions based on the wrong reasons. I didn't want to make a video, so she said that's okay, and that many people don't, but many companies demand them. Then she told me I would have to take a drug test with Dawson. I told her that I would take a drug test pending an offer from a company with whom I want to work in a medical setting, and why would I need to take one now? She told me "The same reason we do the video: some companies need someone right away. The video is their interview and the drug test makes you eligible for immediate hire." I told her I already have a job and would not be able to do immediate hire, as I will give proper notice to my current employer as it is professional. She responded "Oh, these companies will wait for a notice." So, you're telling me, that IF you found a company willing to pay me what I want, that they would be willing to do so without an interview and without ever meeting me beforehand, and I'm supposed to like that and agree to working with a company without interviewing them as well? That's not how professionals do business. I guess if you ARE looking for entry level or temp work their system can find something for you, but once you have a certain level of experience they are a waste of your time. read more

I agree with other reviews...the office is over the top lovely. The issue for me with an employment agency is not how nice the people are or how nice the office is, it is whether or not the company helps me to find a great job! New to Columbus and seeking a new challenge, I went to Dawson for one of their open houses. I was randomly assigned to a recruiter. One thing you must know that I did not know about Dawson is that You ARE NOT signed up with the agency as a whole, and being considered for every job that comes in that is a match with your skill set. You are ONLY signed up with the person that you met with, and whatever jobs they have. They do not work as a team. This was explained to me when I saw a job posted from Dawson that was a perfect fit for my skill set, and called wondering why I had not been contacted about it. I was told that because the recruiter who had this job was not my recruiter, I would not have been considered for it. So it's just a crap shoot, really. If you happen to meet with one of the recruiters that has the good, well paying jobs, you are lucky. If you meet with a recruiter and "click", and they get you and think you are a great candidate, you will probably do well. I have extensive work experience in executive assisting, administration, sales and marketing, and event coordination. I am proud of my life and work experience. I have lived and worked all over the country and internationally. I have excellent references. My recruiter, who told me that she has never been outside of Columbus, saw the fact that I have lived and worked in so many places as a major "negative" and basically told me that my lack of "stability" would be a major road block to finding employment. I left Dawson confused and disheartened, wondering if all employers in Columbus are only looking for people that have done the same job with the same company for years, with no ambition to move up or experience new things. Needless to say, I have not heard from her regarding employment opportunities. Oh and be prepared for the fact that they force you to make a video of yourself on the spot! And on the spot drug testing with a urine sample. No wonder they give you free water lol! But, hey, thanks for the cookie on the way out. read more

What a joke! I had an appointment with Jessica Bloom. Couldn't make it because of an extended interview on the other side of town. Emailed her to let her know I was not going to be able to make it and asked if we could reschedule. NO REPLY AT ALL! Is this good customer service? I don't think so! So in the meantime I was emailing another Dawson employee (Jessica Vargas), not knowing I could not talk to both and she told me to deal with Jessica Bloom, because they staff for the same positions. Which wasn't a problem at the time. So after Jessica Bloom did not reply to my email, I emailed Jessica Vargas back and told her the situation. That I could not make the interview with Jessica Bloom and she did not reply to my email, and asked I could set up an interview with her. Obviously she does not know how to read because she emailed me back, and I quote "That's great! - We staff for the same positions so we don't have to schedule another appointment." ?? WHAT?? So I emailed her back that I didn't interview and guess what? NO REPLY!!! Looks like a pattern there with Dawson employees! They need to take come customer service seminars!!! read more

Dawson is HORRIBLE,if you see this place,RUN!.While the office and FRONT DESK staff are very nice,the recruiters are LIARS!!!.So,a true story:Placed on assignment by dawson at a well known call center,was sent an email that I had been terminated THIRTY MINUTES AFTER my scheduled shift was supposed to begin!.Prior to this day,NO COACHING,just a suggestion given by a supervisor to not do a certain "thing"-did it(because I was fairly NEW and HUMAN,made the mistake) again!.No questioning,reasoning,nothing!,just like that -terminated for a MISTAKE that I was NEVER COACHED on but like i stated before,just a suggestion,NO BIG DEAL!.After this was told BECAUSE I DID NOTHING WRONG(???),they could work with me again...a few weeks later,was offered a position that required an interview.Recruiter called to tell me that she set up the interview but a few minutes preceding the call,my husband told me that he had just gotten a new position and that he was going to be working a new job with hours that left me no choice other than staying at home with the children.Emails and calls to the recruiter went unanswered for a period of two weeks!.Finally,I placed a call to the agency and the operator asked what kind of position I had been looking for,I told her, and she asked the basic information(name,experience ect).Before she connected me with a recruiter,I ASKED HER if I was eligible to work for the company(I had a gut feeling that I had been removed from their "list",she says "NO",When I asked her "why?"her reply was "COMPETITOR"-what does that even mean?? read more

Received an email from a recruiter about a specific job. Was asked to bring two copies of my resume and two forms of government ID. When I arrived I present my two forms of ID and was told that I needed either a birth certificate, social security card or passport. I had two forms of government issued ID as requested- the receptionist had an attitude and made me feel as though I had made an error. As I was waiting for my interview (who as late-- RUDE!!) another candidate came in and was told the same thing about her two forms of ID (she had a military ID and that wasn't good enough for them). When I tried to discuss the job that I had applied for, she told me that the position already had a candidate who had completed two interviews. She didn't even want to discuss that position, which is why I was there. She was wearing jeans and was not the most professional. I was very disappointed with this company and wish I had my afternoon back! What a waste of time. read more
