I'm new to shelters, and I always wonder looking from the outside in people that are homeless why don't they just go to a shelter. Now I know why. My first time going to a shelter is very uncomfortable. The shelter have security, and let me tell you about their security, very ghetto looking. I work security for over 10 years, and one thing for sure your grooming should be perfect, your hair is not supposed to be looking a hot mess, your shirt is not supposed to be un-tuck, nor should your pants be sagging. Securitas security should be ashamed of their self, and I've also worked for them in the past, as well as other security companies. Male security officers looks like perverts. So here are some of the rules at this location, no outside food or drinks, curfew is at 8 PM, and you have to get out between 5 AM and 9 AM daily, and then you have to come back before 8 PM. if your child is hungry, they will have to starve. You're not allowed to leave the building, if you do you're basically saying I don't need a bed for tonight, even though you just going to your car to let your child eat. I left to go to my car so that I can feed my child, and one of the staff members with a shaved head on the side and braids or locks on the other side told me that I was not allowed to leave, and I told her that my child is hungry and we're not allowed to bring food in so I'm going to go out to my car and feed my child, and she was going back-and-forth me saying that you're not allowed to leave, so then I said how am I supposed to feed my child do you have any food, she said no and I don't know what else to tell you I just know that you can't leave. That made no sense to me, they have all these rules set in place, but no solution. I did leave to go to my car and feed my child, and we end up sleeping in the car since we was not allowed to come back inside. I love you condition at this location is horrible. I'd rather buy a tent, and sleep inside of it, only if they help you get housing quick which it doesn't. The bathrooms on the first floor are horrible, there is some type of fume that's inside the women's bathroom, and I can't explain what kind of fume it is, but if you know what pure acetone smell like, just imagine a 10 pound bucket of acetone open, that is what the women's bathroom on the first floor smells like. Every staff member is unprofessional, except the ones that have their own office. Growing up I used to see people homeless sleeping on the streets, in the park, or on park benches, and now I know why they rather sleep outside than inside of a place like this. How this shelter and other shelters rules should be: you are allowed to bring in food, but no food is allowed inside of the rooms, and if you do decide to eat you need to go to the cafeteria where all food must be eaten. If you need to leave the building, you need to sign your first and last name signature time that you left, and upon returning to the building you need to sign back in. We are not children we are grown, and every time you are offered help by anyone they feel that they have to control you. Cleaning staff, but the shelter is still dirty. We have two major problems in the US, and that's homeless, and food. I will be back to take over every shelter in Ohio, and make sure that whose in charge of the current shelter remove. I can go on and on about this shelter, but I am not the one to just write a review about it, in order for things to get better not just for myself before others we need to take action!!! read more
