Purchased a large custom built home in Murrells Inlet in 2019 from Dawol Homes. There really was nothing exceptional about the house when it was new other than it looked decently priced for the size. Since 2019, we have had several problems with the home, and the warranty and repair service that Dawol uses is problematic. There is a guy Roger who tried hard - but he had a ton of customers, he wasn't really a custom house guy, and the work he did was terrible average. The quality complaints on the house are really from a couple of areas. The quality of the drywall finish is just simply subpar for million plus dollar homes now. There are tons of defects that were present at close. They were never adequately improved, and now as the house ages there are more and more quality defects. Secondly - the quality of paint these guys used is trash. Touch it with a finger and it leaves a mark. It was so lightly sprayed on the walls that any touch up leaves such a poor contrasting texture - even when it was Dawol's team doing the 1 year touch up. Lastly there is a consistent problem with mold and mildew on the front and back porches. We went out and hired a professional to use mold resistant paint when the house was less than a year old as it would accumulate in only a few weeks between pressure washings. The porch ceilings are not built of hardwood - but sheetrock - that was my mistake for not looking carefully at the build details of the porch - but what it really is was a builder cutting corners. read more

I bought my house a year ago and there's a leak in my ceiling. I had water pouring out of my AC vent in the same place. I contacted my realtor who gave me Mike Elliot's number. I called him and he said he'd send someone over immediately. I waited for 6 hours and wasted my entire day off and no one came. I called him almost every other day since and it was always "I'll get back to you, I'll get back to you." Needless to say they don't want to take responsibility for the poor quality home they built, it's basically brand new. It's been 3 weeks and no one has came by, which is interesting because they're building 2 new houses right on the street. I'll make sure if I see anyone looking at either of those houses that I'll tell them they don't want to waste their money, it's just going to fall apart in a year. Get your house built from somebody else, you'll regret choosing Dawol. read more

I have had all three exterior doors leak since I moved in. One of the doors had termites because the house was not treated while they were building. They did a sorry patch job on that door. Now I have to replace flooring from the leaks They don't stand behind their work, there are plenty of better builders. Take my advice stay away. The information below is an update to the issues I have had with this builder. I contacted Dawol Homes about all of my doors leaking several times since I moved into my house. I ended up replacing 2 of the doors due to wood rot and one that was damaged due to termites right after I moved in. The house was never treated until after I moved in. I now have bait traps in the yard. The doors were not properly sealed with silicone causing them to leak from the bottom. I received damage to the baseboards and to my flooring downstairs. I paid $1331.84 to have these doors replaced. I asked Dave to cover the doors and I would cover the labor. While Dave could have gotten the doors at a lower price he did not have to pay the labor to have them installed. He has refused to cover any part of the cost of the doors.The flooring downstairs was damaged due to the back door leaking on and off depending on how often it rained and how heavy. Dave agreed to replace the flooring when we met on June 2nd 2017 but would not cover the doors. As part of the agreement he wanted me to take down this review which it will be a cold day before that happens at this point. This should not be part of an agreement. The flooring cost me $4111.74. Plus they will charge to take up the old flooring. I also had several pieces of siding crack that I attempted to repair and repaint the front of the house and the one side. Dawol Homes did come out and replace the siding. The HOA is now requiring me to repaint the exterior which has now been done at a cost of $3500.. The painter is charging me $3500. I told Dave I would handle the painter even though the damage was from the siding being installed too tight. His own siding guys told me this. If we are unable to resolve these issues I have already contacted the court and received the proper paperwork to go to court. I feel I am being extremely reasonable by paying for the painters and the labor on the doors. Dave needs to take responsibility for the people that did the work on my house. If I end up paying for new flooring that puts me spending nearly $10000 out of pocket for improper installations. This guy should be out of business. Its your money if you want to waste it with this builder. Take my advise do your research before hiring any builder. read more
