My dog loves Dawg Day. She always comes home happy and tired. Everyone there is super friendly!

First, I will say much of the support staff tries to take care of the dogs, but given the lack of training and support from the management, it's difficult. A recent conversations with the owner (Barbara), she told us: 1. Barbara (owner) says she doesn't trust the staff and has a camera on the desk to watch them, but does not have cameras to watch the dog or situations with the dogs. 2. There are two sizes, little and big-sized dogs. If your dog is roughly 50lbs, they will be put up with dogs well over 100lbs. 3. There are no procedure guides for the staff on how to deal with different situations. They have an initial evaluation, but there is no guide to this - it's a gut check. 4. In the situation described below, they have no problems keeping the dogs together. 5. She was not sorry dogs were hurt under their protection, dogs are dogs. I called several dog daycares and asked them their practice for the above items and all of the other businesses have cameras, hire staff they trust, provide routine training, and have procedures. *** The situation -- Recently we had an incident where we were called by the owner, Barbara, saying that our dog and another dog had been playing rough and our dog had a bite mark under is front leg and she wanted to take him to the vet. (I saved the voice mail) We pick up our dog in the afternoon and he has 15 staples covering two parts in his leg, and the vet wrote on the invoice that they had to do a reconstructive procedure to repair the damage. I calmly called the daycare and we hear a ghostly story that our dog didn't want to play with a bigger dog and was attacked. I am not mad because like kids, dogs will be dogs, but request that Barbara call me the next day so I can better understand the situation and the plan moving forward. No calls come. However the next day, the others dog owner calls me and feels horrible. It did irritate me that the daycare gave out my personal information without my permission. It is at this point I find out that this other dog is a rottweiler and over 100+ pounds. My dog is 55 pounds hound/lab mix. The other owner and I have a great call and neither are mad, but we both here different stories and now we are both concerned because it feels like a cover-up. She is told that our dog was the aggressor. I truly appreciate the other owner calling me - it means the world to me. Both me and the other dog owner want to understand what the plan is for the dog daycare to reintroduce the dogs to daycare. We both want the same outcome - no dogs getting injured but to have a safe, fun time. After two days, the daycare owner, Barbara calls me. What surprises me is she doesn't even say she feels bad that our dog is injured, instead says, "I'm apologize that you feel upset that your dog was hurt." This is when Barbara explains the above points to me, and says the only plan to reintroduce our dog back to the daycare is to give him another evaluation. By this time I have talked with another daycare and they explain that anytime that there is a wound, that dog cannot come back till they are healed for their own protection. Then they make sure that those two dogs are not in the same room again for their own protection. Next, they have a written plan to reintroduce the wounded dog back into daycare which can take several visits but with constant supervision and care. I called Barbara back and asked for a refund of the unused days and to cover the vet bills and she is not interested and will not respond as she promised she would. I'm saddened by this whole situation because we trust and like the staff, but they do not have the support that they need. read more

I have used this place for years, our energetic puppers get lots of supervised play with these lovely dog people! We have always been satisfied with the communication from them when a major issue has ocurred. read more

I had read that this place had won a Best of Chester County award so I figured this would be a great place to send our pup. Wrong. They have a lot of customers so that must say something, but I will tell you that the women who run and operate this place are downright rude and have no sense of customer service whatsoever. Every time I would walk in no one would say hello- it was just handing over my pup on her leash and that was it. Anytime I had a question it was like a bother to them for me to ask. If they treat the people who pay that way- how do they treat our dogs while we aren't there?? Our pup was not big on eating first thing in the morning before we left the house so I gave them food for my dog to eat for the late morning/early afternoon when she was often hungry. All too often they would have the same container of dog food still full or mostly all of it still left by the end of the week. They clearly weren't giving our baby any of the food I had requested them too. She would come home ravaging and would gobble up her dinner within 5 mins. The final straw was when I went to pick up our baby after work and Michelle told me it would be a good idea to have her put down!! WHAT?!? They claimed that she had tried to bite at one of the helper girls while they tried to get her leash off. That place has new girls helping out there all the time and our dog was not an aggressive girl. The girl who tried to take her leash off probably startled her a bit or did something to make our pup feel uncomfy but by no means is that a cause to tell someone to put their dog down. Our dog has never hurt a soul. Needless to say I was shocked and began to cry. Rather than giving me a hug or saying something to try to make me feel better, Michelle stayed stone cold and just said that I could always get another. EXCUSE ME?!? The worst part was that she didn't even take me into a back office or make our conversation private- instead she said it right at the front door in front of everyone. How professional is that?? That is when I took my pup and ran and never returned. There is not a chance in hell that I'd ever recommend this place to anyone who truly loves their dog. These owners need lessons in manners, customer care and professionalism. Awful and disgraceful. read more

Great place! Our dogs love it. They are very accommodating and it's easy to get an appointment!

They lie when they have a sick dog was told kennel cough was going around I asked if any dogs had it n was told no my dog got sick that night and went to vet next day and guess what she had I called them to tell them and I was told didn't think she was going to get it as she was away from dog that had it . I talked to owner a week later about it and they said I wish they didn't tell anyone what's going on I couldn't believe it really so my dog no longer gos there read more

I cant say enough about this place! I have been coming here since the opened. The care from the employees is excellent. They love your dogs and spoil them to death. They are very professional! I am soooo thankful to have such a wonderful place to take my dogs !!! read more

The staff is friendly, professional, and caring! Not to mention, my dog loves going here! They have the dogs separated by large and small. My dog is exhausted and sleeps on the car ride home. read more

My 7 month old lab loves it here! When we pick him up at the end of the day he's always exhausted and happy. After a bad experience at another doggy daycare in the area, I would never send my dog anywhere else but here! The employees are also very friendly and care about the dogs. read more

My puppy started going to Dawg Day when he was about 8 months old. He is now 7 and still goes to "school" on a regular basis. There was a short period of time when some of the staff were a bit unfriendly; and I was relieved that the management took action and hired some new people who truly care about dogs. I love that all of the dogs get personal attention and the staff shares funny stories and pictures. He considers the people at Dawg Day his extended family and they feel them same way about him. It's such a great feeling to know that when I drop him off in the morning, he is going be in a safe place with room to run and play and staff who pay close attention, gently correct bad behaviors, and do their best to make sure he has a good time. I truly believe that his Dawg Day experiences helped him to become the fantastic dog that he is. read more

I could no say one bad thing about this place. I am a nurse who works 12 hour shifts. This place has gone over and beyond to come in a little earlier so I can drop my dog off and still make it to work on time. My dog seriously loves it there and I can even consider them family. I know my dog is safe and enjoying himself. In the summer they let them play in the water & in the winter they can still play outside. They constantly have activities planed for the dogs. They provide training classes with an amazingly attentive trainer by the name of Michelle. You will not go wrong with her services. Another major plus is you can even see what your dog has been doing all day if you just add yourself to there Facebook page. I also could not be more thankful for a wonderful, dedicated, loving and devoted employee that's works there by the name of Holly she has become Aunt Holly to my Sinatra. My family and I couldn't be more thankful for her. If you bring your dog here I promise you would not be disappointed oh and they provide grooming there as well so my dog can play all day and get a bath and nails cut by the end of the day.
