Not a bad seat in the house. Concession lines are fast. Plenty of parking. Lacks a great game day atmosphere you would get from the rest of the SEC stadiums. Overall a quality place to visit and watch a game.

$100M in football construction projects and this place is not very nice. The facilities are 1930s era, antiquated at best. Most concessions consist of a folding table under a tent. The mens restrooms feature urinals that are a giant disgusting trough in the floor. The stalls lack locking doors, and on one recent visit the stall walls caved in on a patron. Most of the stadium still features bleacher seating. The highest top rows are so steep that you feel as if you'll fall over if you have any misstep. All the negatives aside, the fans really make up for it. It's an amazing football atmosphere, and they really write the book on how to tail gate. I wouldn't otherwise be so negative on the facilities if this wasn't the SEC with multi-billion TV deals and decades long history of sell outs at State.

What are you looking for in a football stadium? I'm looking for a place with a good atmosphere and good sightlines. Davis Wade has both of these. Despite seeing State lose to LSU, I still had a great time. PROS: -- More Cowbell!!! Nowhere else in the country are you going to find 58,000 fans ringing cowbells. Some of the fans even had cowbell holsters on their belts. -- Great sightlines. Even from the top of the upper deck I had a great view of the game. -- Great tailgating and pre-game. From thousands of maroon tents on the lawns surrounding the stadium to the pre-game band performance as they march in, State does it right. -- HD Big screen. The state of the art video board is ridiculous! It's the 4th biggest college football screen in the country and they show replays of every single play so if you missed something or want to see whether that was a legitimate holding call you can see it in crystal clear HD. CONS: -- MSU really needs to work on concessions. I ordered chicken fingers and fries but they didn't have fries and had to get them from downstairs. They wouldn't let me just pay for chicken fingers. I waited so long I eventually gave up and asked for my money back. -- Other than the cowbells, the MSU crowd is relatively tame. Not a lot of hooting and hollering or singing. They are certainly friendly but lack the intensity of other schools.

The ballpark, known for its legendary hospitality, regularly boo's the opposite team from the "Left Field Lounge" then feeds them with heaping plates of freshly grilled food when the game ends. Both colleges & commentators from around the country enjoy coming to Mississippi State for the electric experience of The Dude, featuring extremely large crowds, cowbells when allowed and smoke wafting from grills creating wonderful food. High rise apartments for baseball weekend rental have balconies looking out on Right Field. Statues of Bulldog legends, such as Will Clark & Rafael Palmeiro, stand outside the entrance The fan base at Mississippi State is legendary for its love of baseball. They drive or fly long distances to follow our Diamond Dawgs. The closest the team has played to me was the 2013 Super Regional at UVA. I spent the weekend in Charlottesville loving the opportunity to watch my Bulldogs sweep the Cavaliers. But there is no post season game location better than The Dude. The many College World Series the team has participated in have drawn large crowds from both Starkville and graduates and fans from across the country. The Bulldogs won the College World Series in 2021 by defeating fellow SEC powerhouse Vanderbilt. The team has sent many players to both the Minors & Major League Baseball. I enjoy following our grads on television, some of whom I have watched in person during their professional career. I've taken my Grandson to the ballpark in Brooklyn to watch and meet one of our Bulldog legends Jake Magnum, who now play for Pittsburgh. Jordan Westburg played for the Norfolk Tides before reaching our Baltimore Orioles. I'm sorry to report that The Dude wasn't built until after I graduated. My roommates & I watched the game from a much smaller ballpark. I especially enjoyed cheering on a group of starters that I tutored through Music Appreciation in 1967. What fun it was! Regardless of your college affiliation you will enjoy tuning your television to watch a game at The Dude. You won't regret it.

This stadium has seen some great players during it's history--Will Clark, Rafael Palmeiro, Jeff Brantley, and Bobby Thigpen just to name a few. It is the epicenter of a baseball school that consistently sends players into Major League Baseball. In addition to the high caliber baseball played at the stadium, Dudy Noble holds most of the all-time attendance records for the college game. With a capacity for 15,000 fans to attend, DNF creates a unique chance for a college ballplayer to experience a big crowd. The history and tradition are second to none. John Grisham has written about the uniqueness of DNF. One of my favorite experiences is seeing a player from another school step on to the field and get chills from the noise of the fans. In the tradition of good sportsmanship, the Bulldog supporters will feed the players after the game is over. Tailgating in the "Lounge" is another tradition that defines Dudy Noble. Fans will bring in grills and cookout all game long. At times, the smoke can wander onto the field and create a bit of a fog. The players do not typically mind as it is a reminder of the food waiting to greet them later. If you ever have the opportunity to visit Starkville in the spring, please go to a baseball game. Dudy Noble Field is full of passionate fans who really know the game and will overwhelm you with hospitality. The baseball is quite good too!

While touring the campus I noticed that almost everyone was extremely hospitable. I've never met such enjoyable people before in my life. The campus is very outdated as we toured two different dorms, one was TINY and old while the other was newer and spacious, Some buildings were painted while others were older and more rustic (orange looking). I think this campus really needs an update (maybe some white wash on the brick buildings) but other than that it's a pretty campus with tons of different opportunities! When we went, there were little tents set up where you could meet students and join clubs. I feel like they really have a sense of community at MSU! Also, there is a Chick-fil-A on campus that has super quick service so that was a plus! (Go Dogs!)
