We've seen this place numerous times as they're on the main drag (Hwy 59) that comes down from I-10 all the way into Gulf Shores ending right at the beach. Anyway today on our way back from running errands we noticed all these great looking palms trees out front so we popped in. We've been thinking that we'd like to add something that pops near our front door. The guy comes right out and offers his assistance. We gave him our specifics and he was very thorough in asking all the questions about location, amount of sun, etc and we ended up looking at these really pretty and healthy looking Sago Palms. Turns out they are perfect for what we want since they grow pretty slow. We got a medium sized palm that we're going to put in an oversized pot (yet to be found) and will be able to care for it and watch it grow for 5-7 years in said pot. Then we will remove it from Playa Sea Zen & bring it to our cottage down the road (Casa Sea Zen) to transplant it in the perfect spot by our front deck that we've talked about needing something exactly like a sago palm. How's that for having a vision and for running sentences LOL Anyway, the gentleman at Davis Nursery is extremely knowledgable, friendly & professional and walked us through the potting, care and future transplanting of our palm. He bagged the thing and placed in in our vehicle and we couldn't be happier with our decision to stop by & buy from him. They have an excellent selection of perennial, annuals, indoor & outdoor plants, vines & trees with a nice selection of fruit trees as well. From seedlings to 30' monster palm trees that have got it and everything looks well cared for. I highly recommend these folks! read more

First time stopping in this nursery. The staff was friendly and helpful finding the plants I was interested in. More varieties of Hoyas than I had seen in my local nurseries (I'm an out of towner). Would stop again! read more

This place has a wonderful selection of plants and trees...we have bought a few interesting plants some lived a season some I still have one being a gorgeous Japanese red maple..the owner is very helpful and knowledgeable..this is our go to place for help as most big box stores don't have help available a lot of the time..he also has plants planted in unusual planters like tires which are cool..I really trust the small local nurseries and the plants from these places are lots healthier.. read more

I used to drive about an hour to this nursery until I realized that they use styrofoam instead of perlite in their soil. I would expect that from a big box store but not a small nursery . read more
