**DO NOT USE DAVIS FUNERAL HOME IF YOU ARE A VETERAN. THEY WILL DISGRACE YOUR MEMORY AND HONOR BY NOT PROVIDING SERVICES THAT THEY PROMISE***
Our family has used Davis Funeral Home for years and for many family members. I thought that I could count on them to handle my precious father's funeral and burial as well. Unfortunately, I was completely wrong. So many things have gone wrong.
Davis Funeral Home lost my daddy's glasses and he had to be buried without them. He wore glasses almost his full life, which was a part of who he was. I know for a fact that I gave the glasses to the man that picked up my father from the nursing home after he was deceased. However, when I came to Davis Funeral Home for daddy's viewing they did not have them and said that they might have been left at the nursing home. The nursing home did not have them. We even checked the lost and found.
On the day of the service, Davis Funeral Home wasn't even ready for the receiving of friends. They had not created the memorial picture slide show, the memorial pamplet or prepared the music, all of which we had planned a few days prior. Instead of me being present and greeting guests and hearing stories about my father, I was stuck in a side room helping prepare the songs and memorial picture show for my father's services.
My father has been deceased and buried for 2 years now and he still doesn't have a grave marker/headstone. It was supposed to be ordered through the VA and Davis "supposedly" placed the order at the time of his burial. I've called multiple times and have only received 1 call back in the past 2 years. The representative that I spoke with explained that it takes time with the VA to get the marker. I honestly think that they never even ordered it.
Davis Funeral Home has disgraced my father with this treatment, as well as our family. If I could give 0 stars, I would. Davis Funeral Home clearly doesn't know how to honor a Disabled Veteran like my father, with their lack of concern and regard for him and our family.
I would strongly advise not using Davis Funeral Home to anyone reading this review, especially if you are burying a Veteran.
Edited to add:
After calling again today, I finally received a call back from Jeremiah Davis. He was very apologetic and said that Davis Funeral Home did not have any reasons or excuses for why my father's plot has been left without a marker placed on it for 2 years. He said that he would resubmit to the VA for the marker again. (I don't think it was ever submitted in the first place from 2 years ago.) He said that I would not have to pay a "setting fee" of $50 to place the marker once it comes in. However it may not come in until the end of summer all the way up to the end of the year. He said that he would call me after he hears from the VA about the marker and also again when it has come in and when it is placed on Daddy's plot.
While I appreciate Jeremiah's call and apology, I still feel like I cannot trust Davis Funeral Home due to the past mistreatment. I sincerely hope this is actually taken care of this time. To me, I would think that if I were a business and had hurt a customer's trust to the extent that they did to our family, I would offer to buy the stone for the family and have it placed, while waiting on the VA's stone. That would have helped reconcile the situation in a more timely manner. read more
