I hope the owner sees and responds to me. My boyfriend has been using this attorney to go through a quick and easy no contest divorce. He started the process in the fall of 2023. Here we are, beginning of 2024, being told the attorney died and someone else will proceed with the divorce so long as we just pay for the final step. However, I haven't read about this attorney dying? No one answers the phone. No answering machine/voicemail.. something isn't right here. We also haven't received any further paperwork. So i started the divorce process with this firm and in the beginning they seemed quick to respond and sent the paper work out quickly.I filled out the forms and sent money in to get the process going. He charged my debit card sent a receipt and also sent me the next form i filled it out sent the money he sent a receipt and sent me the next form where i had to pay more than the first two times but this was my choice on the payment plans .This was the end of march.I have not gotten anything back for the next step.I have called so many times and no one ever answers! I did not hire this law firm, my ex-husband did. That being said, AFTER the divorce was finalized, this law firm then sent ME a letter with a list of fees if I wanted a copy of the certified divorce decree or to change back to my maiden name. Even if I was dumb enough to fall for what they were selling, what kind of law firm only accepts money orders or credit cards and refuses to accept checks?? Let's not even talk about the underlined and all caps statement throughout the letter. The last bit at the end about how sorry he is to charge these fees but that he's only ever raised his rates $10 since 1980 and that if he'd answer calls he'd be on the phone all day is also rather unprofessional, IMO, not to mention a certified copy of the divorce decree only costs $5 and takes a week to receive. All in all, now that I know my ex only paid $219 for this divorce, I am not surprised at all that I got a letter from the attorney begging for more money. P.S. I hired this law firm 14 years ago to handle my divorce which was painful enough to go through. There are four words to describe Michael Davis Law Firm- rude, crude, and socially unacceptable. Don't expect any kind of empathy from this law firm, rather very explicit rude directions on how to spend more money to get your divore decree! BTW, he files all of his divorces with the Potter County Court House in Coudersport, PA. It costs a whole $5.00 to get a copy of your decree! If you don't mind being treated like an imbecile and given only a few options to contact him without being charged a ridiculous amount of money, then by all means hire this law firm! The process is simple and there are no court appearances. All you need to do is read carefully and follow instructions. The only thing that delayed my results from being done in a month was getting my ex husband to meet me to have the signature notarized. He travels for work and it took him 7 months to sign the paper. I called to get information about a divorce and the person on the phone, instead of "Hello", asked if I want to be sent information about what they do. I said I'd like to ask a few questions on the phone. She told me she won't give me any information on the phone and I could get some info online. I told her my address is in PA but I don't currently live there, was hoping to get some information to proceed with this quickly, and asked if she could help me. She told me no. She said she gets thousands of calls every day and wouldn't get any work done if they helped people via phone. WTF. Divorce is a sensitive enough thing. The lady on the line was cold and impersonal, made me wait for the mail to get help (so I just hung up), and customer service was just a joke. I don't care how great their prices are... I like to be treated like I'm a real person who matters, not a piece of cattle. If they get so many calls, they should hire operators. That is just preposterous. read more

The worst ever!!!!! I was attracted to the cheap price but they will nickel and dime you over and over and over again. I am so glad to be done. They are way behind in times and only work through the mail. Whoever writes those annoying letters, you can tell is a very controlling and unhappy person. I ended up paying way more than what they advertise and the threats they give in their notices are very disturbing. I will say the divorce is finally final and they did it but I do not like rude, controlling bullies even if they get the job done. It was a one star but because it ended up finalizing, I gave 2 stars. Make no mistake the bad reviews are true, they are very rude and highly defensive people. I'm very pleased with the divorce. It was quick and as painless as it could possibly get. If you get the information package and read it thoroughly and follow the directions then there are no extra fees and no hidden fees. I did however have to send an additional $45.00 for the retaking of my maiden name. That fee was disclosed to me upfront prior to my payments. In total i paid $219.00 for the divorce and then the $45.00 for my retaking of my maiden name. And never once had to even see or speak to my ex. I definately recommend Davis Law firm. read more

I don't know what the issue is with the reviews below. Simply request the information. READ ALL OF IT, and you will have a clear understanding of whether this practice is the right fit for you. Bottom line, if either party is contending or blaming you have to go elsewhere and of course it will cost you. However, if you are both cordial and in agreement, this MAY be a good fit for you. Everything, EVERYTHING, is clearly spelled out in all of the correspondence, follow it and you too will save yourself tons of aggravation and money. Don't give a bad review because this practice doesn't fit your needs, that's not fair. What they offer is clearly spelled out, cost are straight forward, and if you have a question you can write and they will respond. Yes there is practically no customer service. No they don't want you to call and ask a zillion questions. This is a quick, easy, cheap divorce. Do you want divorced with no arguments? Just go your own way and it's done? Then give them a call. If you plan on being more complicated, find someone else. I was totally happy with everything. I have to admit, this firm is cut & dry. They send you the paperwork & info, you fill it out and send it back with payment. Period. No BS, No phone calls, No Questions, etc. You are given an account # which you must keep at all times. Loss of this # will result in an extra fee being charged. Phone calls will result in extra fees. All business is done via mail. Customer service is definitely lacking; however, this firm handles 1000s of divorces. In order to keep it cheap ($219 is outstandingly cheap), you get no extra added benefits. If you need to discuss things, have a ton of questions, or are not ready to file your divorce, this is NOT the firm for you. On the other hand, if you're ready to go, you won't be disappointed. I used this firm and was very happy with the outcome. I've never divorced before, so it was a new experience for me. i used them for my divorce. i was out of state, and my ex was still residing in philadelphia. if you just read carefully and follow all of the instructions given, you WILL get the result you seek. i got my divorce AND a court order to retake my maiden name VERY quickly. matter of fact, i sent in the request for the name change on december 19 and had a signed court order in hand on december 27. i was thrilled. if your divorce is uncontested (i.e., no kids, no property disputes, etc.), *i* would definitely recommend these guys. read more

These other reviews are from people who clearly can't follow directions. They tell you up front if you call there will be a charge to talk to the lawyer or paralegal. What do you expect for $219? If you can read and follow simple directions your divorce will cost $219. If you are a person who is impatient and wants to call every week be expected to pay those legal fees. read more

Horrible! Yes the price is low because the process everything thru potter county court system where a divorce runs about $70 for anyone who desires to process it! This place has zero customer service they will not speak to you on the phone. And everything questions included has a fee! If you have a question you have to leave a message and then call back after one business day if they dean it was a unessceary question you will be billed extra if the question could be handled thru the mail you guessed it you will be billed. read more

Reisman and Davis is excellent! You call and they send a packet of info....no discussions over the phone, the packet tells you everything. Very easy to follow. I paid in full and had a complete divorce in 6 months! Every time I had to send paperwork, I got the next set of papers immediately. Soooo extremely quick! Forget these guys- they charged my credit card more than they said and when I called to complain they said they were going to charge me $20 -$40 for calling and said to never call again. I'm unable to get my refund and wish I would've just paid a real attorney his/her fees. It would've been worth it. This is the most aggravating company I have ever dealt with- never again!! My personal experience was very good. If you're looking for a lawyer where your situation may have complications that you would actually need to speak to someone and ask several questions, than this may not be the route to go. For me, my ex and I had already been separated for 2 years, and he lived in another state. We had no property to split up or custody stuff to work out. It was a plain and simple divorce. I didn't want to spend a fortune, and was able to do this process for under $500 all said and done. That also included my last name being changed back to my maiden name. The instructions / forms sent via mail were clear, and they thought of pretty much any question I would have, so I had absolutely no need to contact them with additional questions. It honestly was pretty cut and dry. I read the instructions thoroughly, sent the forms in with payment, they proceeded with the additional work. I provided them with my ex's address and they sent the forms to him. I didn't have to have any contact with my ex outside of just asking what his address was since he lived out of state. I believe they can track an address if it is unknown, but it may be an additional fee? If you have that situation, I would recommend contacting them to find out prior to going through the process, just to be sure. Within a couple months of contacting them, my divorce was finalized. I received my certified divorce decree stamped with the seal from potter county. I have since been remarried and had absolutely no problems with the decree at the courthouse I filed my marriage license with. Everything went very, very smoothly- zero issues, and even though I think divorce costs are insane, I was very grateful to have been able to do this for under $500. I would recommend them to anyone who has a simple, no fault divorce, and doesn't want to shovel over a ton of money. read more
