I also had…read moreheadaches that had been part of my life for years - they as "regular" headaches/migraines and had slowly upgraded themselves to a 24/7 subscription service I absolutely did not sign up for. I was taking all kinds of over the counter and prescription meds for these headaches with little relief. I've been to several chiropractors in my life so I thought I knew what to expect. Enter Dr. Jacques "Jox" Allmand -- chiropractor, healer, and possibly a wizard. On my first visit, I explained my symptoms, and while describing the neck and back pain Doc asked "how about headaches?" Without hesitation I said "all the time, every minute". He finished his assessment and said we'd get me feeling better, and "We can definitely fix those headaches." I remember thinking, "Bold claim, sir." But guess what? I have not had a single headache since my first treatment. Not one. It's been three months. I did go back for a few more treatments for my neck and back pain, as I'd been "stuck" for quite a while. I feel better than I have in years. I will be scheduling regular appointments (tune-up Tuesday!) to keep feeling this good. Dr. Jacques uses a mix of conventional and innovative techniques. He's very efficient but when you tell him about a new pain or aren't feeling quite right at the end of the session he takes the time to investigate. You and your pain will be heard. I was in rough shape from old injuries. My mobility became limited as I settled into a cycle of…read morechronic pain and being too sedentary. After falling half a dozen times, my hips were rigidly locked up for well over a year. I ached while sitting, standing, or lying down. That means all of the time. :-) I needed help. I headed to Palm Springs where I made regular massage and chiropractic appointments over a few months with the Palm Springs Healing Center, (kind of desperately) hoping for change. The short story: I left Palm Springs three months later in much, much better shape than when I arrived! The Center has an easygoing professional style. There is no hard sell to use the myriad of services they offer. (Acupuncture, herbal medicine, chiropractic, massage therapy, colon hydrotherapy, and more.) The front-end folks are friendly and helpful. Stunning photography, lots of interesting reading and a nice beverage set-up make for a pleasant short wait. My massage therapist, Susanne Arnold, used myofascial release (intense, very deep work to break up long-term rigid muscle spasm) as it's one of her special interests. We worked to stretch and release spasm I had for decades, such as the bulging cherry-sized knots under my jaw and ears from extensive cervical neck damage after being rear-ended by a semi-truck. They are nearly unnoticeable now. I have had a lot of massages, but this work was different in that it went past giving me instant relief into changing my actual structure for the better over time. She is a massage powerhouse. She has other massage talents, but the myofascial release was integral for the changes I needed. Those hips that hurt so much I couldn't handle an afternoon at the Palm Springs Art Museum? They got miraculously better thanks to Dr. Scott Redfern. I diligently pushed myself to walk (it hurt) for miles in the Palm Springs sunshine and went for regular chiropractic adjustments with Dr. Scott. You immediately feel his sincere interest in helping you feel better! But, it's more than the chiropractic adjustments... His style promotes calmness and healing. His patient rooms have pacific blue walls with relaxing music playing--he pays attention to the details. He starts his treatment with electric muscle stimulation and heat to relax the back muscles. (We don't have those with chiropractic in Washington state.) My neck and arm discomfort markedly lessened with his adjustments. Yet, for many weeks my hips and sacroiliac joint stubbornly didn't budge and I secretly wondered if they still would. You can sense where this is going... With carefully targeted adjustments Dr. Scott got my hips to unlock! That is a really, really big event for me. I would have done a cartwheel if I could! I invested in massage and chiropractic treatments over a few months hoping to feel better and it worked. My time in Palm Springs and at the Palm Springs Healing Center was totally worth it. My mobility and chronic pain are so improved that I am able to do activities I had to skip before. My attitude improved a whole lot, too. I head home feeling a lot more healthy and happy. Would I go back to the Palm Springs Healing Center for health tune-ups? Absolutely!

Where did I turn? Yelp! So a gigantic thank you to Yelp for this and many other helpful recommendations. Through it I found Desert on Call Chiropractic. I phoned at 9 am, they were able to see me at 2 and by 3:30 I had found relief. There was a small wait upon arrival, but once in they examined me quickly, determined the cause of my pain, placed heat and tens on me, gave me the best massage of my life and then utilized the Soft Wave treatment on me. Dr Rahn is the amazing Doctor that helped me and directed my care while I was there. I returned the next day for a follow up and went throught the same treatment and had an equally awesome massage on my back to loosen the tight muscles. Doctor Rahn has been through his own pain and musculature issues and is kind, accurate with his assesments and his adjustments and happy to share his vast knowledge with each patient.
